Direct Tv is now coontract only even if you own the eq.

I used to be A installer so I have some old eq. So I decided I would just call up and activate a receiver for my father. Had no problems doing this in the past.

But Now I am told that DTV will not activate old eq you own unless you are an existing customer.

But in order to be a customer now you have to sign up for a lease and sign a contract.

They flat out refused to let me activate the equipment I owned as a new customer. Thats sorry service. It cost them nothing to activate this equipment that I will install. All they have to do is take the money. Thats bad business. Bow have they changed since the owners changed. They are now a contract only service. That might make sence when the do the install and provide the eq.

I am never going to be a DTV customer until they change owners.

I have also noticed that all dealers have gone out of business and they only sell direct.

how do you expect them to make any money i have had directv since 2000 and i have never been more pleased with a communications comp.it beats the *** out of comcast and dish network
