Directv in Washington, District Of Columbia - Bad Direct TV

I signed a 2 yr contract to get the channels I am no longer getting. How about letting us out of our contracts if you are not going to keep the channels you were promoting? I'm sick & tired of being tied to contracts with satellite providers who continue to offer less & raise prices. When the consumer breaks a contract, it cost us. Why should Direct TV be allowed to get away with this? Just plain corporate greed on both Dirct TV & Viacom and we, the consumers, are the ones paying the price. We either pay the same for less or more to get what we orginally signed up for.

It is a breach of contract because we signed the contract we agreed to what channels were being provided at the price given...how can they charge for a service they are not providing any longer....we should be able to get out of it.

I am paying more than I was supposed to pay anyway....now all the channels I watched are gone and the rest are infomercials...what's the point in keeping it!!!!!!

On 7/11/12, DirecTV reduced our service with them by approximately 25 channels. I consider this to be a breach of contract by DirecTV, so I decided to cancel my service with them.

I called to cancel on 7/11/12, and they informed me that I would have to pay $220 ($20.00 per month for the remaining 11 months of contract) to cancel. The service representative also stated that I will have to continue to pay for those channels, even though they are no longer available to me.

So it looks like technically if they want to DirecTV can just reduce me to 1 channel and I would still be under contract and have to pay. I love how we pay a set amount (116.00 in my case) and get locked into a 2yr contract for a product that may or may not be available to me.

You cancelled 10+ channels (TRU dropped off our TV a month ago). How much does you CEO make per year? Is that why you refused to pay the pittance asked by Viacom? How about pissed off Direct TV customers filing a class action suit? That will cost them a lot more...

Direct TV is the worst. I switched from COMCAST because I work for Verizon and would get a discount.

Direct TV does not have nearly as many channels as Comcast and the service is awful. We need a class action suit against them.

Directv Is HORRIBLE

I had signed a one year contract with Directv when I first moved into my new apartment. At the end of the year, I was planning to me to a place that would not allow me to have Directv (The apartment complex had a deal with Comcast). I called comcast and let them know, and they proceeded to laugh and tell me that I was signed in for 2 years and they would have to charge me IN FULL the amount for the remaining year PLUS an early cancellation fee. I even explained that when I moved into a place that would let me have them, I was planning on returning. I had the agreement and told them again it said one year. The rep hung up on me. A day later I looked at my bank statement that was tied to my account, THEY REMOVED $400 + withouht even having my permission or even making me AWARE of the ammount. I contact the Better Business Bureau immediately and with 5 days, all of my money was returned plus some. These people are rediculous, they get you with false advertisment, and up the price after a year. Not to metion the HORRIBLE customer service I recieved througout my time with them. I switched to Comcast......THEY ARE A DREAM COMPARED TO DTV. They are very eager to make you happy, They have refunded my account any time i have even the slightest problem with my service. I suggest contacting BBB and then getting the *** away from DTV. :)

Lets see you are hetting 20 dollars total off your bill for missing a few channels for 9 days in the middle of summer.....that is actually a good deal. Even if ypu subscribed to allthe channels lost i bet you didnt watch all of them 24 hours a day....i bet you only watched one or two a couple nights a week.

It is not like you would die...or did die, or became deathly ill without the channels. Get over it and stop being a baby....this had no life changing impact that willl affect you until the day you die

Directv in Phoenix, Arizona - Direct TV and Viacom

I just received a call from my daughter asking me if I was at home. She continued by saying Mom they have taken BET, VH1 etc because they could'nt come up with a agreement with Viacom and lost the contract! The reason I have Direct is for channels such as BET to watch some of the prgramming other channels won't show nor acknowledge. Unbelievable what Direct TV is doing with Viacom!!!!! Isn't it interesting how the channels that have been removed are the channels that are mostly watched by the Minority Community? You don't see ESPN or LIFE channels being dropped......I really hope this is temporary because Cable Networks such as COX and DISH are chumping at the bit.

You are misinformed Viacom stopped Directv from showing them. Viacom wants an outlandish price to let them show them.

When has Nickolodean, Disney and Comedy Central been not watched by minorities.

Don't be ignorant and start playing the "CARD".

Directv in Burke, Virginia - Dropping of My Favorite Channel that I view

I think if DIRECT TV dont resolve this issue. i will be cancelling my contract with them. I will wait about a week. I should also get a discount on my next bill. Due to not avail to view my channels, BET, TV LAND, COMEDY CENTRAL, MTV, SPIKE, CMT, VH1, VH2. I would like to keep DIRECT TV, because of the Sports events that are given each sport season. Let's make a sound decsion to resolve this issue. I think the customer should decide on weather or not if i would pay additional for those viewing channels. thank for your service.

Upset and disappointed. Fewer channels and paying more.

Review your current packaged and come down on your package rates. Not fair.

Big company, little people? Looks like we lose.

I think Direct TV should issue rebates until the matter with viacom is resolved. I signed a 2 year contract to get these channnels and as far as I'm concerned Direct TV is breaking a contract by not providing these channels.

Directv in Houston, Texas - Cancelling channels

Why do you have the right to cancel channels because you do not want to pay more money to Viacom? When the consumer breaks a contract, direct TV files all these law suits against us so why can't we do the same to direct tv? We also signed a contract and all these channels were listed under my package. Direct tv and Viacom make more than enough money to work all this out without affecting the consumer. I have a contract and these are listed channels and I want them back, or I will send all this info to an attorney to see what happens. That is what Direct tv would do if I broke my contract with them. For once Direct tv needs to show the consumer some respect and do what is right by them (the consumer).

If you read your contract, they are not under contract to provide you XYZ channels, regardless of your package or length of commitment to their services. It states that they will provide you with the television services, but they have full authority at any time to change the channel line up. Yes, it's unfair, but at the end of the day - you all agreed to this.

This is the second time Direct TV customers have been thrown into the middle of a conglomerate *** match. Loyal Direct TV customers are paying for it in more ways than one since we are locked into our respective, good faith contracts.

As far as I am concerned, Direct TV is in breech of contract because they are not providing what I signed up for at a mutually agreed upon price.

I contacted Direct TV yesterday, and the only thing they offered was a $15.00 credit on my account, spread over three months, and a free Encore package that doesn't show anything worth watching. Whoopee.

Directv in Ocala, Florida - Direct TV ripping us off

I have had Direct TV for over 10 years and have had srveral problems with them, but on the other hand Dish is no better. They are all a rip off as far as I'm am concerned. Now that Direct TV has dropped some of the channels that I reguarly watch, I am going to cancel and install a digital antenna and watch my local channels for free! I already have netflix, so no big loss to me except the $70 per month that I pay to Direct TV! Shame on all these providers who insist on increasing rates, while lowering their quality of services!

Direct TV can attempt to sway the blame of the lost channels to Viacomm all they want. Direct TV , like all service providers, have to purchase products from other companies to be able to provide their own service. In this instance, Direct TV purchases channels from...
