Directv is a RIPPOFF

When we moved we called to get our service moved and they told us it was going to cost $160 to move us. I asked what about your commercials that the move is free? They say we have already moved once and used that, when we moved a month after we got service I had to pay, and did so for that move because we had not had the service for 3 months. I tell the rep that, he then says that they cannot move us with out the fee. I told them if they are going to charge us they can take their service and shove it and hung up on them. A manager calls back my husband and they go through it all again. My husband tells him over and over we are not paying the movers fee. The manager says no we will make it right. My husband again told them that he was not paying for the move, the manager again says no we are going to make it right. Well lesson learned he never put in his notes they were not going to charge and charged us $200. I went round and round with them about this and disconnected the service and then they took over $600 out of our checking account, including the moving fee and then an early termination fee that was for a full two years because they say when we moved we agreed to a new contract, which we did not! We never signed anything when the guy moved us! They are crooks and I will keep telling everyone I know about how they are ripping people off!

Im sure directv is happy to have loser freeloaders like you good and gone. Im sure it is quite expensive to have a tech come out an do a complete install. I moved last year an they gave it to me free and had a genie upgrade at no charge. They do this if you havent had a free move within the year.

Im sure they would love to pay for your free installs whenever the building you live in the for time being evicts you for not paying rent because Im sure you feel that you should get that free as well.

You are too retarded to live on your own I think. Move in with your parents as Im sure theyd love to take care of you like they did for your first 35 years of life.

This is a common practice with DTV. You can dispute the charges with your bank,if the money is returned to your account, you may have to close the account or change#'s to prevent recharging. Also file complaints with the BBB,FTC,and Attorney General

Directv

My receiver broke on Wednesday morning. It is now Saturday and I am still waiting for a new receiver. Directv did not put on a street address when they shipped it. My bills always come promptly and correctly addressed. I spent all day Friday trying to find out why I did not have a receiver delivered. Their customer service representatives either hung up on me, or they couldn't do any thing, or they wouldn't even call FEDEX to find out the problem. So, I am without a TV for at least four days. *** is no TV with teenagers in the house. They need to find a better solution to replacing equipment. Shoulda stuck with Time Warner

I am trying to clear a debt with DTV. Cant speak to a rep w/o paying the debt, wth.? They are ruining my credit and took $640 out of my account without my authorizing it. My first hook up only amounted to the guy hitting a switch, there was already a dish there and the...

Anonymous..You did not say how long you have had DTV...It sounds as though they are charging for early cancellation fees+nonreturned equipment fees. you can dispute the charges with you credit card or bank.It is easier to get the money refunded through your credit card. You also have the right to post a rebuttal on you credit report stating your side.

Directv in Morton, Illinois - Satellite Cable - Direct TV

All satalite cable companies fail to tell you, that if there is overcast or stormy days you will get NO reception just a blue screen. But Direct TV particularly... here's my story: I got permission from my landlord to have the dish put on the roof. no problem. Well, after about 4 months or so, without notifying me, my landlord had men out to re-shingle the roof. Of course they had to move the dish to do this. Was that my fault? No. When the guys were done with the roof, they tried to put the dish back in the same place but couldn't so my reception was bad. I called Direct TV and told them what happened. They said "I'D" have to pay $75.00 for a service call to have the dish reset. Needles to say, I did NOT pay the $75.00 for a call that was out of my hands all together and they wouldn't credit my account when I told them I was canceling their service if they charge me for the fee. They said no matter what, I am responsible for the fee.. when I had no control?? Screw that! They need to stop placing the dish on Rented Property then!! We can't tell our landlords what to do and when they can do work on their property!

Good luck in getting DTV to remove the dish when you move..they won't do it.If you cancel service there is a $20 per month charge for every month left on your contract. Also they often charge nonreturned equipment fees even though you have returned the boxes.Good luck in trying to get your money back from them. As you can see I am not a fan of DTV!!

gotta agree with "Wow" on this one, hun...but your landlord should've covered the fees, he was the one who had it moved in the first place. Let him pay it.

Anonymous
#490133

So Directv should have covered the charge because it was out of your control? Guess what they didn't hire the roofers to come to your house and remove the dish and then attempt to reposition it.

Their fees are valid.

And you are ridiculous. Who you should be mad at is your landlord.

Directv in Boston, Massachusetts - Direct TV

I called direct tv to take advantage of a AAA deal they had advertised. It took three different people before one said they could take care of that. She requested all my info (ss# & credit caad) before she could give me a price or any info. I reluctantly gave her the info and then was told that to get the discount I'd have to talk to customer care. The first gentleman stated that I had to wait until I was billed to find the price. To that I said no way, just cancel. He gave me to a woman in customer care who stated the sales person was the only one authorized to give discounts. I informed her I had spent 3 hours at this point and ws told customer care was the only people who could give discounts. She said that she could cancel and start the whole process over with a person she would connect me with. I went along and got what sounded like the AAA discount and set a time for install. Got auto call and it was for a new time. I called back and got even another time and asked to check the cost. The price given was now without the discount. Frustrated I cancelled. 5 hours wasted!

Directv in San Mateo, California - They will steal your money after you close your account

I closed my account paid direct tv hundreds of dollars to do so, and then they come back threatening to take me to collections over a $54.95 PPV even that happened over a year ago on 2/26/11. Then they tell me I can dispute it, but since I am no longer a customer I am unable to access my account to view orders and payments made. Basically taking away my ability to view 1. If I in fact even ordered this *** thing a year ago, and 2. If a payment was made. Direct tv is a lousy thief!!

Directv in Montgomery, Alabama - Three Statements - Three Disappointments

I was scheduled for installation yesterday morning between 0800 and 1200. Before I got into the discussion of what services I wanted and when I wanted them installed I had mentioned we had an old Direct TV pole that was deep in the ground and could not be dug up. I needed someone to cut it and if Direct TV could do that, I would get the service (I told the phone person it was a deal breaker otherwise). She assured me that there would be no problem and she had noted it on my install request. I then requested an early install and was told that they couldn't guarentee that, but would make a note to see if possible and that on the day of install, I'd get a call to let me know where I was at on the days list. I was also told that, because our phone conversation was beneficial to both parties, I would be receiving the most recent HD/DVR box that was not even available on your web site yet. Yesterday morning, none of the above promises occurred. The installer didn't call me. At 0900, I called to find out when he would be at my house and was told between 0800 and 1200. By 10:15, I was getting anxious and needed to make lunch for my family but was unsure of when to expect an arrival and didn't want to be caught in the middle of cooking. I called to check on the time of install and was told it would be between 10:00 and 12:00. I let the person know it was already after 10:00 so that didn't really give me any new information. I was assured that the the installer would be calling me to let me know where I was on the list. By 10:45, no call had occurred. I complained about that and then they were able to get the installer to call me and he stated he'd be at my house by 11:45. He finally showed up at 12:07. Once he got off the van, I showed him the pole that needed to be removed but he said it wasn't in the notes and he didn't have the tools to remove it. I explained it was my number one requirement and a deal-breaker but he said he could try to get his supervisor to dig it out but it would delay things by an hour or so. He then said he was already behind schedule so he wasn't sure about doing it and that the person on the phone should not have promised that. I then asked him if I was getting the most current technology and he said "no". I was getting one that was two generations old but was still a good box. He said he had no control over what was on the van, as that was what I was to receive. So, I was not properly updated on the time of arrival - then they were technically late (12:07). So much for requesting as early as possible. I was lied to about the post/pole as they were not able to do that or didn't have sufficient time and I was lied to about the "new" box. I want to be a Direct TV subscriber but have serious reservations based on the way their sales people state one thing and the installers state another. My order is currently on "hold" status.

Directv in Rancho Palos Verdes, California - Direct TV didn't give me the free DVR as promised

I ordered Direct TV through the AAA discount, which is also offered to the general public (big discount). It offered a free DVR. I don't watch a lot of TV (I'm in my 80s), so I didn't try to use the DVR until I'd had the equipment for 2 weeks. The recorder wouldn't work. A friend came to look at the equipment and it turned out that I only got a standard receiver, not a DVR. Direct TV said that since I didn't let them know within 5 days, that I can't have the free DVR, I have to pay $170 for it! Talk about a bait and switch! Don't get Direct TV, but if you do, check all your equipment carefully before the installer gets out the door!!

Directv in Washington, District Of Columbia - DIRECT TV CHARGED A HANDLING FEE FOR THEIR REPLACEMENT RECIEVER

My TV would not come on last Friday when I came home. Called DIRECT TV, was given to technical support. The person explained how to diagnois the problem. Still no picture, He said he was sending a new HDDVR out to me. I did recieve it when they said I would, installed it, and now I have TV again. Today I recieved a 19.95 bill from them for shipping which I was never told about. Needless to say this is unacceptable and will be looking for a new company. I spoke to a man that could not communicate English that well, then I spoke to a female Kelly who would do nothing for me either.

DTV adds another 2 yrs to your contract even though it is just a replacement,it is considered an upgrade. DTV does not tell you this unless you try to cancel service.

Anonymous
#490131

JustSaying, this would be true if it was an upgrade, but if it just a replacement receiver all they have to pay is the delivery and handling and it adds nothing onto your contract.

the statute of limitations has run out they cannot win any suit against a person for a bill five years old. DOn't pay and file suit if they tinge your credit score for it.

We were also customers of Direct Tv for years. When we moved, we were charged several hundred dollars for movies they said we didn't pay for several years previously when we turned our boxes in.

#1 -- We have excellent credit and always pay our bills on time --- I have an expectation that any charges I owe are posted in a TIMELY MANNER. #2 Honestly, some of the movies were clearly not material we would have watched yet I had no proof years later that we did/did not order it. #3 I felt completely scammed and not valued as a faithful customer.

This practice is dishonest and not a way to gain or keep customers. Direct TV is no longer what I want as a cable provider as they cannot bill me on time or honestly.

My oldest child in 2007 was five , i tried to order movies thru the remote but was not succesfull and the only way we could do it was to go to there website to order because the boxes where not connected to phone lines or internet. This is BS by Direct TV.

Anonymous
#488585

The older model boxes, had this glitch that allowed people to order movies and never see the charges on their bill if they didn't connect to a phone line. Luckily all of that was recorded on your little access card and when you returned that it was scanned in that the movies were ordered.

Now you may have not been aware, could have been in a kids bedroom or something but those little access cards do not lie. I'm just saying though....they will charge you $20 if you do not turn the card it.

You do the math. Sigh.

Anonymous
#487872

They have done a lot of people this way knowing you cannot prove that you did not order the movies. This is just one of many of their scams
