DirectTv is well known for using customers credit card or bank accounts without permission because they have it on file and can. I'd suggest you change cc#'s or close the account.Use a prepaid credit card and give them the prepaid #. DTV's contract is usually for 2 yrs with no upgrades in equipment. If they have replaced your equipment for any reason this adds another 2 yrs to your contract.

DirecTV terrible customer relations

I was a loyal customer of DirecTv for 15 years or more. Always paid on time, moved their service with me to new homes twice. last January due to tough business climate I had to cancel my service, I made a mistake and didn't confirm the cancellation so I thought it was done turns out they kept billing me, I just thought that the cancel hadn't caught up to the billing, after 3 months of bills i called and they said I never cancelled, so they billed me those 3 months and would not budge. Even though I had disconnected the Tv's they kept billing me. they just went ahead and just charged a credit card they had on account and still made a negative comment on my credit score. Then today 3 months later I just tried to add Direct TV in one of Century Links bundle plans and DTV said that it is only for new customers and they would surcharge me an additional $99 a month in additon to the bundle, over and above the Century Link charge. So basically 15 years of loyal customer service means nothing to this lousy company, 3 months of billing mistakes which they were paid for keep in mind, they had no loss whatsover, means everything. What a horrible way to treat a long time customer. They told me to come back in two years. Can you believe it? Whenever they lose the Sunday NFL ticket I believe that their customer base will drastically decline as their service and attitude are horrible. I hope they go out of business and someone that actually gives a *** about customer service steps in to replace them.

Directv in Deltona, Florida - Direct TV Greed Personified

Your customer service advocate advised me this morning by phone that the number of complaints and dissatisfied customers was of no concern because it is a small percentage of the 20 million customers that you now have. Keep going the way you are and the numbers will increase to a point that will cause a wave of dissension that will eventually be the downfall of Direct TV. Every time a customer for whatever reason be it financial or service not being available causes an account to be closed before the 2 year contract date has expired Direct TV charges outlandish fees and then TAKES the money from your customers accounts without notification. I found this out when I saw the transaction posted on my bank account. This has caused irreparable damage to me personally and to my family and business. We will overcome this problem of now having a negative $904.00 balance in our Corporate Checking Account due to Direct TV taking $930.00 without warning. Sadly I don't have the resources to recover and the fees will take it to over $1,300.00 before I can generate the funds to cover this Visa Debit Charge by your company. Please remember this message when in a few years time you are looking at decreasing revenues and find your company is in trouble-remember that every dissatisfied customer will on average tell 100 people or more about the experience and advise these potential customers to avoid your company at all costs. This becomes very exponential and will grow rapidly if your don't find a way to fix this problem. I can assure you that I will take every action possible to turn as many people away from Direct TV and will work diligently to provide them with better options. You might want to look at the Comcast business model as how they treat customers who move and transfer around the country. Their system works and I have NEVER been charged a fee for early termination of service by Comcast as a result I would be using their services if it were available and I intend to make sure that happens in the very near future

Before a customer is granted service with DTV,they request that you provide an active bank account or credit card on which DTV will place a small charge to be sure it is active, telling the customeer it is a one time deal and will just be kept on file and also tells the customer that their card has to be kept up to date(in case their account changes)DTV has it all figured out, they have had years and years of experience doing this. You could ask your bank to reverse the charges some banks will do this if you feel you have been wrongly charged. Please do tell everyone you know not to deal with DTV..I do and I have cost them quiet a few would be customers

You should never allow any company to auto debit your account. They can debit any fees they want and once they have your money they do not care.

Its all in the terms once you allow access to your bank account or credit card. I prefer to setup auto pay with my online banking.

Directv in Chicago, Illinois - Direct TV - Scam/False Sign Up Info

Needed cable and didn't want Comcast. Upon getting through Direct TV 888-662-2276 I was greeted by a CONGRATULATIONS: You called during POWER HOUR which entitles to a special offer from Direct TV. To make a long story short and after an hour-and-a-half on the phone transferring me around, putting me hold, the offer went from getting started at $20 to $200. Prior to getting this bad news, I had already started the process by giving them my social security number (this may come back to *** me in the butt so I'll take care of it). I will be contacting the BBB and their corporate offices about this complaint.

If you always read the footnotes on advertisements, then you would understand that all companies will indicate "must meet qualification" or something about a qualification.

Hopefully they did not sign you up.They needed you SS number to check your credit rating and that is where the $20 went to $200

possibly your credit rating is not the highest it could be. DTV wants a high credit rating and signup for auto bill pay in order to qualify for the $20. This is Good news because you did not become another victim of DirectTV.

Directv in Atlanta, Georgia - Direct TV Lying to Consumers About Fees

I called to get Direct Tv and they had free installation. I told them I would be moving in 6 months and wanted to know if there was a charge to move my service. They told me I could get one free move per year and there would be no charge for the move. Here I am six months later calling to move my services and they tell me that I have to pay $99! They will not reverse the charge. I even called the sales line today to act like I wanted new service and told them I would be moving in the next couple months and they again stated I would not have to pay anthing. When I told them about what was happening they disconnected my call. Direct TV will say anything to get your business.....they will lie.....consumer beware even if it is in writing they have the right to change their fees at anytime.

I am on a ltd income,,I called direct tv to tell them to cancel because my bill was 140 a mth. I asked if they could cut me a break and lower the bill,,after paying 140 a mth for three years,, after some,, let me talk to my manager,, b.s., she comes back and says,, ok we will lower it 38 dollars,,, making it,, 102 a mth plus tax,,, which I said ok to,, then they send me a e-mail telling me I am locked in for a year at that rate,,, or I have to pay 180 dollars to cancel,,, They never told me that when talking to them,,, and,, I never signed anything to that agreement !!!!

They initially lied to me when I ordered it, saying my total bill would be 89 dollars a month,, for two years,, the first bill I got was 130 and everyone after that was 130,, I called many times to no avail,, then googled them to see how many law suits are against them for lying ! This company should be regulated by the govt, or consumer protection agency , for all the lies they tell the consumer !!!

Directv in Louisville, Kentucky - Customer Service

I have been trying to contact an actual human being in the customer service department all morning. It is now 1:00 in the afternoon and I have yet to speak with someone. I called every number on the website and on my bill! All I want to do is find out what my balance is and make a payment. Now I am going to pay the balance and disconnect my services with Direct TV. This happens everytime I call. It is so frustrating when you have to talk to a computer and it keeps hanging up on you!!!! It

If you are late on your payment the system will not allow you to speak to a person, at all. It will just keep telling you to pay.

However, there is a work around for this. When you call it will ask if the number you are calling from is the number listed on your account. Say "no". It will then ask you for the number on your account or your actual account number.

Do not say anything. It will then say that it did not understand you and ask you to say a number again. Again, do not say anything. It will do this a couple of times and then finally boot you to the menu and ask why you are calling.

Say "speak to a representative". It will then ask the reason why you are calling.

Say something like "billing problems" or "billing questions". It should then connect you to a representative.

I had a rebate issue w/ dtv, tried to talk with customer service (to no avail). However, I had signed up an account online and there was a corporate e-mail on there that obviously goes to someone important because after I sent the email, my issue was taken care of within a couple of days.

Give it a shot! Never had dish, but my neighbors that have say dtv is way better.

DTV is not really good about refunding money, they usually take if off your bill. for future purposes I would change account #'s so this does not happen again because if you are ever late again, they will again take it from your account. I'd get a pre paid card and give them the number for their files.

DirecTv is TERRIBLE! If you are considering going with them, DON'T DO IT. They tried to bill me for HustlerTv and for 3 pay per view movies. When I called about these charges, they said I had ordered them through my remote. I explained that we did not have a phone...

The thing is, we were never able to order with our remote. We had 2 service calls for this issue alone and DirecTv shows record of the service calls.

The problem was not able to be fixed and the men who came to look at it could not figure out why it wasn't working. And the movies they said we ordered along with the Hustler TV were not movies that we had EVER tried to order. I still had the equipment at the time the charges showed up on my account. I have no problem paying for stuff I order but I don't order from the cable company I use.

It's much cheaper to go to redbox. I have already disputed with the credit reporting agencies. I've provided accurate email documentation stating that my account balance was at zero when the account was closed and that I owe them NOTHING. I will continue to tell everyone I know not to use DirecTv.

I've already convinced several friends and family members to not go to Directv. I am an honest and loyal consumer and to be duped and deceived like this is very frustrating.
