Keep an eye on your bank account or credit card if they have one on file for you because they will be charging you an early termination fee which is usually hundreds of dollars and when you send their equipment back be sure to get a tracing # to prove they get it.

Directv in Washington, District Of Columbia - Direct TV Fraudulant Customer Service and Billing Tactics

I was told I had an option to not be billed for a installation until the technician made a decision on whether or not I would have to pay a fee or if would be free. I opted to not be billed until the technician came out and I would pay him (if needed) on the spot. The moving department assured me they would set it up as I requested, which they did not. They billed me for the moving charge immediately. I called and explained to them that their had been a mistake and again was assured my problem would be fixed. It was not, in fact that representative did not even put any notes in my account at all. I was called for the payment four days later by a person who sounded like they were calling me from prison and could not speak proper English or handle a conversation in any way or form. He transferred me to the billing department who also could not speak English simply based on the fact she was not in or from the United States. She continued to speak over me and ignore my requests and concerns. She finally got approval from her manager to note my account for credit but told me I would have to call the moving department for that credit, and that she would note the account as such. I called the moving department immediately who started me at square one telling me there would be no credit and they were sorry for all of confusion, they referenced that I opened a email and that created a binding agreement that I would have to pay them the fee. I explained to them that I had been verbally told by customer service, billing and even the technician that I would not have to pay the fee and that I did not appreciate being lied to. She then referenced the notes on the account which happened to reflect nothing I was told from any of the representatives. I asked for them to review the quality assurance recordings so that I could prove (remember I am the customer having to prove things) that I was promised removal of this fee several times. The response was that not all of the calls are actually recorded, they just have to say they are. At this point I am finished with direct tv, they have lost a customer for the fee of $99 minus the wages they paid over 6 people to speak with me for a few hours. Congratulations on that solid business plan! And good luck with your future fraudulent attempts to charge people fees you already agreed not to, I suppose as long as everyone you employee to speak to your customers is already in a prison cell or out of the country you have nothing to worry about legally but I am sure your businesses bottom line will suffer tremendously if this is what you call customer service.

Of all the humdreds of complaints I have read about DirectTv,I have never heard of them producing a taped conversation for play back.I don't believe they record as they say they do.Just another one of their lies. How can opening an Email create a binding agreement?

I recently signed up with Direct TV, first it took the technician 7 hours to hook up my cable in two rooms and 10 minutes after he left, the bedroom signal kept going in and out. I called his supervisor to inform him of the problem (tried to the call the technician on...

After the installation was complete, my local channels would go in and out of service. It kept saying locating signal.

It was only my locals.

So when I called DirecTV, they said they will have to call a service technician and I'd have to pay $50 for it. Wow!

Directv in San Marcos, California - Got ripped off by Satellite Direct Advance!

I totally got ripped off by these people! I can watch whatever shows on Hulu Plus for 7.99 don't need to pay them another $8 a month for a toolbar to go through, which is all you seem to get from Satellite Direct Advance. Then when I was totally broke so the auto pay didn't go through, they shut off service. Ok, that's fair, but then they have continued to bill me for the past 2 months but I haven't gone back and restarted it! And I'm not getting service from them. Rip Off!

Watch your bank account or credit card if they have one on file. They will charge a huge amount for early termination fees as well as non returned equipment fees if they possibly can. Get tracking # if sending back equipment

I can relate to you and your problems,I too had problems with DTV. You can dispute the amount if they have charged your credit card but you may have to close the account to prevent them from recharging.

As far as Time Warner goes call them as ask if they have a "buy back program" some cable compainies do.If so they will give you 3 free months of cable to sign up with no contract. This will give you time to get the mess straightened out with DTV. Do tell everyone you know Not to get DirectTV!

Directv has a policy of not removing satellite dishes from the premises. The installer was updating equipment in my home and decided to change to a newer dish, not requested by me and didn't ask first, either. Then this big piece of trash is left on the ground for...

Find a phone book and have the guy that collects scrap metal take it away. You should not have to pay because you already know they collect per pound on metal.

Directv in Dallas, Texas - Catch 22

I am trying to sign up on line for their "online" deal and it says I don't have a legitimate address? I called and a Direct tv guy in Oklahoma who said I'd have to get the address issue straightened out with the post office? I've lived here for 33 years and had a direct TV account, for 12 year, until two years ago, at this address. So, I called again after visiting the post office, of course the post office shows my street and number as good. How can I fix THEIR problem with THEIR addressing system? I entered other addresses and they ALL showed as a "not legitimate address?" Furthermore I could not get the "online" discount because I called? I have Dish and have had equipment problems, mostly with the remotes, and don't like the "search feature or the channel listing format. I have to say that dis has pretty good customer service. Well, Direct, I tried two times each day for three days to work this out with you but you are very difficult to deal with. They looked at my old account and show the same address. The reason I quit Direct two years ago, was because, after getting my Dad signed up, I'd found out that I had been overcharged for eight years and when I called to talk about the overcharge got one of the most disrespectful and flippant "customer service" reps I could have ever imagined. After several months, Direct finally did the right thing and refunded my overcharges but it was a real chore and I had moved on to Dish. Altho, I have to say the the Direct equipment, two Tivo recievers, worked perfectly. Could all these "customer reps" actually work for Dish or Comcast? I welcome some one from Direct who actually cares to contact me.

Directv in Dallas, Texas - Direct Tv Representative misrepresented and did not provide the assistance they stated they would

On Feb 14 Customer service representative by the name of Chirs was contacted. It was explained to him that my mother was elderly and due to safety and health concerns she would have to relocate to my home. She would no longer need Direct TV as I already had a TV service. After several conversations he agreed to eliminate the $300.00 cancellation fee and even stated that she would be receiving a $10. credit in the mail. On 3/3 she received a bill with a $300.00 early cancellation fee. I called immediately and was given the " unless it is determined that you can not get a satellite signal, she will be charged the early termination fee". She is an elderly lady living on a fixed income and is not trying to scam anyone. She just is not able to live safely on her own.

Directv in Dallas, Texas - Failed to show at appointed time

Direct TV installation in Weatherford TX has the worst reliability I have ever seen. We were supposed to be hooked up between 8am and 10an. Here it is 6:10 pm and we are still waiting. If they knew they were having problems, why not send another installer. I missed two appointments waiting for them to show. Contacted DIRECT TV to complain and got a bunch of sorry's, bit nothing else. They wanted me to connect to the tech department, like there was anything they could do. Told the operator that if I hadn't just made the contract, that DISH TV is also in the area. I may not keep DIRECT TV much longer if this is the kind of service I can expect. Totally disappointed and will not go through this again
