I was planning to move to a new apt in May 2011. The mangager said that it was difficult to get a signal there because of all the trees. If I waited until I moved, then found out I couldn't get a signal, I would have had a service interruption while I waited for Time...

You might want to check with UPS or whoever the carrier was to see if DTV has received the equipment you sent back.DTV will try to charge you for it if at all possible. You did not say how long you were a DTV customer but there is a $20 per month charge for every month left on your contract.also you can sign up for paperless billing to check your statement and go back to paper billing anytime you wish.

Directv is awful. I called a year ago for the bundled package due to incorrect information they gave me we agreed on a 12 month contract at a price i would rather not have paid.

I was told at the end of that 12 month period i could call in and sign up for another promotion which i did in July. The rep i talked to signed me up for the 39.99 a month package, got my first bill and all looked fine. I recieved my second bill and was being billed full price. When i called in i am being told that i am existing customer who signed a 24 month contract and that there is now way possible they could offer me that package.

Doesn't make sense to me, their sales rep gave me the info on this package and verified she switched me. I told them to pll that call to verify what i was saying was true but of course they can't, the calls can only be listned to by their quality team to check quality. Isn't this an issue regarding quality and information i recieved? According to them i am in contract for another 12 months, the only thing i can do is cancel early and pay their fee's or downgrade my service to less than what i have now.

Isn't a contract null and void if you sign under false pretenses? I would never recommend directv to anyone.

Directv in Chicago, Illinois - Mislead until too late

I returned to DirecTv from Dish in March due to their advertising of the "Come Back Now" offer which promises up to $200 back to disconnect from another provider. I was first told I would receive $31 off a month if I provided my email address, which, as any half-brained wit would do, I did. I was also told that to received the $200 rebate for cancelling with Dish, I would need to mail copies of proof of the final payment. I switched in March and did not receive the final bill from Dish until the following month. By June, I collected all paperwork, including proof of payment in April and submitted it all. Not only did I never see the $31 a month off my bill (which only continued to increase), but I called a couple more times when my paperwork was returned along with an automated and very lengthy voicemail about how to obtain the $200 rebate. I finally called and made a representative walk me through the process. By now, I was told, and received an email, that it was past the 90 days to receive the rebate and I would not be granted it. I insisted on speaking with a supervisor. I waited on hold for almost 19 minutes only to be disconnected. I called right back and demanded resolution or I would discontinue service. After almost 9 minutes, a supervisor, James, got on the phone to robotically repeat that they would feel the way I do if they were me, but that they could do nothing for me as it was past the 90 days. Now, here I am...frustrated, out of $324.00 owed me and nowhere to turn.

Directv in Harrisburg, South Dakota - Direct TV is the WORST company !!

Update by user Sep 20, 2011

I did finally received a check for the merchandise that was returned to them. I will NEVER do business with this company again.

Update by user Aug 26, 2011

So they assured me that labels would be mailed out that day. They werent they werent mailed out at all.

Instead in a few weeks later they sent a whole new box. Wasteful. I guess I know now what the fees I paid, pay for now. I did get labels this time in the box.

So get this to get a refund they will credit my account. It took an act of God to get a straight answer about what would be credited. I wanted my credit card credited but oh no they finally told me that they will credit my direct TV account and then once the equipment is received a refund check will be sent to me in about 6-8 weeks. Really!?

You stoled my money and then you will get around to giving it back in 6-8 weeks. I wonder how many more phone calls I will have to make after the 8 weeks to get my money back.

Everything they have said so far was a lie. Truely save yourself the headache and stay far far away from this company!

well they cancelled my account 2 days prior to the end dae so they could bill me a disconnet fee as well as an early cancellation fee. I recently returned 2 receivers back to them but had to wait almost 2 months and numerous calls to get them to send me a box to send their stuff back and they continued to charge my account even though I wanted to return their equipment and couldnt with out their return labels. Now contract is up, thank god !!!!!!!!!!! So they sent me a box this time for the last 2 receivers and guess what, no return label so they took out over $400 out of my account for non return of equipment. So now several calls again still waiting for the return labels. This is the WORST company ever for customer service. oh and just so you all know if it rains or snows dont plan on getting any channels to come in. This was one of the questions I asked when I first signed up & was told so long as it isn't a blizzard or horrible rain it wont be a problem. Well with a sprinkle there will be no service from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You didn't say but... If your contract with them was up and DTV cancelled the contract 2 days prior to the end of the contract and your payments were current, you may have the right to get your money back.I'd file complaints with the BBB,FTC& Attorney General and write the local Troubleshooter at your newspaper or TV station

Directv in Houston, Texas - Took my cord I need for my Wii.

Direct TV came to my home to install DT and in the process took one of my cords from my living room television. This cord connects a little black box to my tv and enables us to watch DVDs and play Wii. I know they have the same cords because they used one to hook their box to my bedroom tv. I called with this complaint and at first was sure they would be returning the cord. After numerous phone calls I now find out they do not plan on returning it, they instead told me where to purchase a new one!!!

Directv in Fayetteville, North Carolina - Direct TV Scam

I am military and moved direct TV claim after offering me a special for 12 Months I was sent an agreement for 24 months which they claim I failed to read. I will never sign a 24month agreement as I moved a lot. Now they are charging me over 300 for 18 months of unused service. This is rediculous! I do my reserch I had Direct TV as a special for 19.99 per month I did refer a friend along with the special. I don't make alot and this is why I'm careful when chosing these luxury items. I am so angry, and fustrated. I paid every bill on time directly comming from my checking account and now its about $380 that they now want to charge me. Then I had the account on hold for the last 6 months which was advised by another service agent and when my 12 mark is reached I can be released it was a lie. The lady claimed I had a 12 month special with a 24 month obligation it makes now sense. I am so angry!!!! and broke!
