Poor Customer Service from Directv

Absolutely horrible customer service. Directv has regressed and after being on hold over 40 minutes, manager comes on, unprofessional, and will not remove fee for charge of delviery and handling which I was told would be taken care of on order date. Extremely poor customer service and hold times were worst I have ever seen. How can it be this company continues to elevate fees and charges and hides behind them by offering up little or no customer service? What gives to providing substandard customer service Directv?? I am sure that this as well as my conversation with the unprofessional service provider will go on deaf ears.

CenruryLink/DirecTV ***

This is one of the largest cons ever. To get rid of high, constantly increasing Internet service providers, CenturyLink advertises you get their high-speed Internet, free call waiting, free caller ID, free long distance anywhere in the U.S. and DirectTV for a minimum monthly fee. What they don't tell you is there are numerous hidden costs and the high-speed they offer is their lowest high speed bandwidth; but for $10.00 more a month you can get the higher bandwidth. I went from $27.00 monthly telephone bill is now $91.00; but I didn't have to sign a contract… The real kicker is DirectTV; biggest crooks on the planet. First mistake was allowing CenturyLink to sign me up for DirectTV; there was no discussion on DirectTV's terms and policies. It costs me $75.00 to put the satellite disk on a pole beside my house rather than letting them nail it to my roof. The technician informed me that I had to fill out an online rebate request to get the CenturyLink discount, and there is a 2 year contract that will cost $480.00 to terminate; even though CenturyLink advertises no contract. I had to keep the channels in the promotion packet and could only cancel them before the end of the trial period; they refused to take them off even though I didn't want them. Then we get hit by lightening. One of the receivers goes bad and guess what: I rent their receiver and they want me to pay them a $50.00 service charge to have a technician look at it, this is after spending 1 ½ hours on the phone troubleshoot the system with an ignorant help desk clerk that is reading a troubleshooting manual and has no idea what he's talking about. Another thing to beware of with DirectTV is their termination policy. Regardless of your reason, you will be charged a penalty if you terminate the contract early; this includes moving into an apartment complex that provides cable and does not allow disk. This company is sweet and loving when you are setting up but as mean and dishonest as a snake when you try to terminate their service… Another big slap in the face is you do not have to sign a contract to get locked into this mess, just making a payment means you agree to the terms and conditions that you are totally unaware of. The first payment was the fee I paid to CerturyLink when initially setting up the account. As a matter of fact I am going to pay the penalty just to get away from DirectTV, and as soon as I get the local Internet service provider hooked back up, CenturyLink is out. This packet is nothing more than a rip off and no one in their right mind should ever consider DirectTV; unless they enjoy being punished.

You're an absolute ***. First off, it's a dish,not a disk.

Secondly the contract is there for the company to recoup their costs incurred when they installed THEIR equipment in your home, it's a common practice used by all television providers, which goes for your gripe about leased equipment as well. The last remarkably *** comment of yours that I'll address is that apartment complexs cannot, by law, prohibit a person from installing a dish. They can limit the customers' options however tjey cannot ouright prohibit it.

Lastly I'll leave you with this gem.

It is better to let people think you are an *** than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Directv in Denver, Colorado - Charged for services never received

Do not go with this company! Direct TV is a horrible company and their customer service is lousy to say the least. Do not go with them, they will rip you off. If you go to their website you could ultimately go with one of their "retailers" who will charge you upfront for shipping,installation and equipment charges. We realized this and called the real Direct TV and were told that we had to go back to the "retailer" to get our money refuned. The we were told that if we cancelled that the money we paid upfront would go for a restocking fee. Come on Direct TV get you sh.. together! If you are using a retailer and they are not doing as you do and taking money upfront they should at least gelp get the situation rectified.

I very recently became a Direct TV customer and I am very disapointed in the way I was not properly informed about the cost of this service. I have talked to two supervisors without satisfaction and it is my intention to contact the lawyers at AARP for recourse. Unless Direct TV chooses to rectify the 'bate & switch' tactic used to get me buy this service I will definitely file a law suit. I have been threatened with a $463 cancelation fee to cancel this service and told I 'have' to keep this arrangement for 24 months..; I don't know your policy in dealing with senior citizens but it appears to be that of "easy pickens"..... Directv in Ames, Iowa - Direct TV = Rip off

Signed up and they promised me free HD for life as long as I had auto pay. Paid two months that way then all of a sudden they send me a bill and it has $10 charge for HD. I called and said what is up it is auto pay. They said it was cancelled .. Not by me but they don't know how it got cancelled. they reinstated the auto pay but no free HD anymore. I argued with them for three months about it and they said sorry they don't really know what happened but the offer is off the table now. They make all kinds of promises to get you to sign up then yank them away.

If you contact their customer service tell them that you want to cancel your service. That particular department has more power to be able to make the customer happy as far as being able to change contracts and fee's.

Like you I was duped into DirectTV by the myth of their "whole home DVR" which is a 1 room DVR with POTENTIAL to access in other rooms.

What isn't mentioned is the fact that those other rooms require HD recievers which will cost you an additonal $100 per reciever. thank you directv marketing!

Directv in Santa Fe, New Mexico - 90 days free movie channels, 91th day $121 bill!!!

direct tv offered us 3 mos free movie channels but after 90 days they started to charge us extra $45 for those free movie channels because we just forgot to call and cancel it. These blood suckers money hungry devils know VERY WELL millions of clients forget to call to cancel free movie channels after 90 days and they make billions of dollars EXTRA because of that! I tried to talked to them over 2 hours on the phone and they were so rude to me. she told me that i should read the fine print on my bill! i told her that we r very busy people and dont even have time to get enough sleep and we just cant read all that fine print every bill every credit card and every tricky game play like this but she said every time she gets a bill like this she always reads all the fine prints!! can you believe how rude her answer? i told her that this problem is not about her but us. We have 2 jobs, work 14 hours a day, 4 kids and we even work weekend! just because we did not read their fine print, they make killing on us! I hope they go to ***, i hope they file bankrupcy, i hope they all suffer for every penny they steal!

directv has many services from internet to cell phone.. to have control of your services..

i've been customer since 2003 and never had any problems such as these.. how many have a cell phone and 5 minutes.. thats all it takes ..

never paid of such thing.. register directv account and still have control of your account with a click..

Umm....it clearly states free for first 3 months. After that you have to pay for it.

I don't see how this is there fault? Take responsibility for your lack of action and just cancel it going forward.

Directv in Richmond, Virginia - DirectTV Rebate never paid

The package that I purchased from DirectTV included a $21/month rebate for 1 yr that they never paid. I called several times and was told it was a system "glitch," was promised resolution each time and return calls that never came. I eventually received $11/month (which wasn't the full amount according to the contract) and continued calling to no avail. I finally tired of being lied to and cancelled the service 6 months before my contract ended. Knew I owed a small cancellation fee ($32) but had no intention of paying it. They sent it to a collections agency, etc. etc. Finally 4 months after I cancelled service, they admitted that I should have been paid the full rebate, but since I no longer had active service they say that they "cannot" pay it. If I come back to them they will credit it to my account. Ha! Like that will ever happen. I liked the TV service I got from DirectTV but the way they treated me was terrible -- I would never go back.

Directv in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas - Commercials, Commercials, Commercials

I am sick and tired of paying to watch commercials over and over and over.... There are more commercials than shows. It is rediculos to pay to watch more commercials than the show that is suppose to be on. The same commercials come on over and over during the same dam show. Do they think that everone has short term memory loss? There is now a movement going across the country to put a stop to this. I am already paying you to watch tv, this along with millions of other costomers $$$ should be plenty enough. Greed is what this is, well think of it this way, if this commercial *** dose not stop you could be out of a JOB. I know you dont give a dam right now, but you will when your paycheck stops comming! I have blocked out all of these channels that have more commercials than show. This means that the companies are wasting time and $$$ when no one is watching them, and yes I, we are the ones paying for the dam commercials at the register every time one buys something. I myself try not to buy anything that has commercials on TV. I have acctually changed my insurance companys to ones that dont constantly have commercial on my dam TV. If this *** continues I will drop your service like a piece of lead. Its pretty *** to show me commercials of DIRECT TV when I already have it! Are you people just plain *** or ignorant? DTV dose not have to carry stations that constantly have these rediculos commercials. I, We pay you good $$$ each month for good service.

I, We donot pay you for 75 percent commercials and 25 percent show! If you must carry these stations, just show a blank screen during commercial time like in the old days. This will stop these companies from making the dam connercials in the first place. If no one is watching them, then no more commercials, no more commercials, equal savings at the register.

AND DTV dose recieve $$$ from the stations that they broadcast! GREED GREED GREED I think that DTV along with many other companies need someone with an IQ higher than a peanut to run them.

Direct TV is not responsible for how many commercials are played on any channel they offer. Direct TV only retransmits what the networks send them. So if you have such a problem is the commercials on a specific network contact that network to complain.
