Directv in Apache Junction, Arizona - Another Rip Off By Direct TV

When I had Direct TV installed, I got the basic package with no movie channels. I had no way of ordering movies because I did not have a land line, which is required by them to order movies. After a period of time passed, I got a bill for $405.00. When I called Direct TV to ask what this charge was for, I was informed it was for ordering several "Adult" movies. I told them I had not ordered the movies, nor did I have a way to order them. After further investigation from Direct TV they took the $405.00 charge off my account and said they had charged it to the wrong account and my number was just one number different. In essence saying it was a clerical error. Another period of time passed and I got another bill, this time for $815.00. Needless to say, I called to discuss the matter, refreshing their memory as to what had happened prior to this bill for $815.00. This time they were extremely rude and I was told I needed to pay these charges before the due date. When I tried to explain the previous charges had been charged to the wrong account, which was off by one number, I was told that, in fact, I had ordered the previous movies and they were adding that charge back on my account along with the current charge of $410.00 for the "Adult" movies I had ordered in the past month. When I refused to pay for movies I had not ordered, they turned me over to a collection agency and this is now being reported on all 3 major credit reporting agencies, which has caused me all kinds of problems when trying to buy a car, qualify for a home loan and countless other things. I believe the person that installed my system, wrote down the equipment number and was using my equipment number to order movies for themselves. I am trying to get this negative experience resolved with Direct TV, to no avail, and get this removed from my credit report. Has anyone else had a similar problem with direct TV? Angry in Arizona, JDHorse

Need to call directv back and ask for the phone numbers to identity theft and fraud. One of those two departments will be able to straighten it out!

I think your theory is probably correct - it's identity theft and the only way to remedy that is to make noise, noise, noise. I'd contact anyone and everyone who would stand still long enough to listen.

Think the BBB, Direct TV (executives' email, don't bother with the call center people), local news stations that may have a consumer protection program, and most especially, each of the three credit reporting companies to dispute the charges on your credit. Next, I'd head to my local law enforecment agency and see about filing a formal criminal complaint, and get the local detectives on it. If they won't help, contact the FBI. Heck, contact them anyway.

Everyone. Very loud.

Often. Good luck, and keep your voice up!!

Directv in Washington, District Of Columbia - Direct TV loss of picture again

It's happened again. Everytime it snows I loose my TV reception with "The Dish". Last time I called Customer Service, the lady told me to climb up on the roof and clean out the snow from the dish! Two storeys up - not on your life. I am tired of losing reception everytime it snows. When my contract is up I will be switching to Verizon Fios. So, it's snowing tonight in Washington DC, and I would like to get a forecast on any channel, but because I have the dish, I am totally out of touch. This is the time when one needs to have TV reception.

Directv in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania - Direct TV Lies

My wife and I contacted Direct TV to compare to Cable. After a full break down of pricing we told the rep no thank you because we didn't want to pay an additional $200 for 2 more HD boxes. After speaking to a supervisor, she gave us 4 HD boxes for free. When the installer came he informed us that we were to be charged $200 for these boxes. After calling, and waiting on hold for 57 minutes, a supervisor picked up. She denied the conversation I had with the rep. I told her to play the recording of the call. She said she didn't have access. She then said the call would be fowarded to a different dept. The rep. will be coached better, (for lying) and that I will have to pay full price regardless. She said it is against policy and no one could discount these HD boxes. After I told her to cancell my service, she offered me a 50% discount on 1 box. I asked her how all of a sudden she could do this? I told her no thank you, unless you honor the original proposal to cancell my service. She said no, that a 50% discount was more then generous. (admission of guilt?--why discount at all if the rep. never lied?) I'm sticking with Cable. Direct TV needs to get their act together and refrain from lying!

DTV's practice before you were hooked into a contract for 2 years. This is only a tip of the iceberg when it comes to DTV's lies and deceit.Be wise and stay away!

Directv in Richardson, Texas - Direct TV installed a dish outside I do have the service.

Direct Tv installation company in Grand Prairie, Texas, installed a dish outside my bedroom window of my apartment, for an apartment on the front of the building, upstairs. I live on the back of the building downstairs. I want it moved. Upstair apartmens do not have outside space and especially not on the other side of the building. I want it moved! I have been to the office of the apartment several times and was told that noone came into the office for approval and Direct TV knows the installation procedure. The tenant who have the service were told that they have to make an appointment to have it moved.

It never ceases to amaze me as to what length DTV will go! The installers knew the dish was not supposed to be put there but did it anyway. Now the customer who has this DirectTV service will be stuck paying a monthly service fee till their contract is over. As a rule DTV does not take down their dishes, they leave these eyesores up for someone else to take down and free advertisement for them.

Directv in Mullica Hill, New Jersey - Double charged me for offers that YOU suggest

Why am I paying DOUBLE for promitions that you offer and conventely run out in the midddle of the month. If this is your way to make money than this is wrong!!!! I have been a loyal customer for longer than 6 years. I left cable for this reason and now your doing the same exact thing. First I had to change my package because You no longer have the one I had.(at a higher charge) I will go back to cable even though I hate that company. At least they listen and fix all over billing. Fix This Practice!!!!!

Directv in Phoenix, Arizona - Direct TV promised Free HD, now wants $10

I signed up my 86 year old father for Direct TV. When I called I asked about the special and part of it was Free HD. They came out and installed it. Dad did not have an HD TV that day but got one a month later. When I hooked it up it did not get HD through his HD box. They then told me he had to pay $10 a month to have it. They said because he did not have an HD television the day they installed it he now had to pay. They hung up on me and were very rude. I guess I should have known I would not get HDTV through my HD box? Now we are stuck with them for 2 years, but, it won't be one day longer than that!! I recently went to stay with him and got Internet through another service due to my experience. Evidently they don't care about customer service and what is right.

File an online complaint with the BBB,Attorney General, and FTC.there is no guarantee they will help you but your complaint needs to be filed. Also if you have a local "troubleshooter" with a local TV station or newspaper, get in touch with them they may be able to help you and you can google Directtv/complaints and read what others have to say and pick up some pointers this way. Good Luck..

Directv in Cold Spring, Minnesota - Direct TV - horrible service!!!

My husband & I ordered bundled services through Direct TV yesterday (1/23/11). We have spent hours on the phone & were told that Qwest phone service is not offered in our area. They were fast with taking money out of our account. Today we were transferred 9 times to different people before we found a supervisor who could cancel our order. No one there knows the entire story & you have to share your story with each person you are transferred to. I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life. I would not subscribe to Direct TV if my life depended on it!!!!

BEWARE of those great package deals for new customers. They draw you in, then they *** with outrageous fees. When my contract is up, I am going to cable!

Direct TV customer service is horrible! They do not appreciate their customers.....believe me.

Directv in San Luis Obispo, California - Request for L.A. news in our area

I am pleased with Direct TV however I was very disappointed that we do not have a Los Angeles news available in our area of San Luis Obispo. When I had direct TV several years ago in the San Joaquin Valley we had several L.A. news stations and I got use to watching them and enjoy them very much. I was recently told by a Dish TV user that they now have Channel 5 KTLA from Los Angeles and it seems like Direct TV could also provide some sort of L.A. news???? Kathleen Keller San Luis Obispo, CA.
