Directv in Kalamazoo, Michigan - Scammed my 81 year old mother

Direct tv called my mother with an offer for free sports package and showtime for three months which she could cancel and her bill would be less than she was paying she told them she didn't want the sports package, but convinced her in the long run it would be better. Then told her she needed new equipment installed so she said forget it. then when her bill came the cost had went from $70.00 to $140.00. The sports package alone is $63.99.when she called them they told her she agreed to this and would be turned over to collections if she did not pay this amount and could not cancel. She is an 81 year old woman on a fixed income and can not afford this.

Ask for refund get lied to.Since July I have called And got Told the same thing We'll have it back in your account. 6 72 hours have passed. NO refund. I Think a 500 million Dollar class action suit will wake them up. And that's what I'm going to do it"s time thwe little man. Get's heard by big corporations,no more lie's put your money where your mouth is. Do what you say or get sued.Take action if you"ve been duped. By switch bait or promised something Sue,Sue, Until the're broke, they bank rupted by account Get On Board SUE.

Directv in Stockton, California - DirTV

DirTV furnishes you with a remote control. I could not remove the batteries from the remote. I thought the remote was defective. They said the warranty expired on the remote. I said it was defective and since batteries do not have to be replaced more than every six months or once a year, there would be no way I would know the remote was defective. The representative said in any case, I would have to pay $15 dollars for a new remote. I asked to speak to the supervisor; I waited 15 minutes and hung up because I decided to call the representative who signed me up for DirTV. He said the remotes have a problem with removing batteries. He told me I could come in and he would show me how to remove the batteries. He also said he and other representatives have told the company to fix the problem with a new design for the remote but received negative response. He also said everybody calls to complain about this problem. I had to have my oil changed today so I took the remote with me and my mechanic tried different ways to get the batteries out and found a solution. Does DirTV know that we have gone to the moon but they cannot make a remote control with simple battery removal.

Directv in Akron, Ohio - Never got referral money

I referred my girlfriend a few months ago, she gave them my information and they said I would be receiving $100 and she would be getting deductions from her bill. Never happened! She called and explained that we didn't get our money or deductions and they said it takes 4-8 weeks for me to get my "visa" card and it takes a couple billing cycles to work on hers. It never happened, she called a couple more times only to get the runaround again until today where they said their is no record of a referral and she cant do anything because she is an established customer. Direct tv is a rip off, this is stealing!!!! is there anywhere I can make a formal complaint and report this activity?

I too am going through the same thing. I have been trying to disconnect my service since the 23rd of June and still not resolved.

I am trying to find this form that they keep saying is on the website for Landlord no permission form. It is not on the website because I've searched the website with a fine-toothed comb and still no form but they do have a Landlord Permission Form.

If you have DTV that was purchased through Smart Circle reps, and you have issues with service, you HAVE TO CALL DTV. You are their customer as soon as the system is installed. We are just a 3rd party rep for the sale and the installation.

My wife and I have been customers of DIRECTV for almost four years, during which time we have never been late with a payment. We recently relocated to a different state and again chose DIRECTV as our service provider. We recently contacted DIRECTV to add another HD DVR to our account. Imagine our frustration when it took five phone calls (the first four calls ended with us being disconnected)to be told we would have to pay $300.00 up front to add the receiver! Apparantly DIRECTV does not value or appreciate loyal customers. We asked that we be billed for the receiver, but DIRECTV representatives said they don't do that. So much for customer appreciation. To make matters worse, they want to charge an installation fee (we are quite capable of plugging in the receiver and connecting the cable to the television set) I think that DIRECTV should look at how they treat customers and they might find that customer loyalty would increase dramatically.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on this company due to their unethical business practices. There is, also, a lawsuit that was filed against this company in another state.

Also, for the price of the equipment, you should ask how much it would cost for you to own the equipment, and then you would not have to worry about losing money, because it'll be yours forever. It is quite a bit, but it's something that struck your interest.

I'm sorry but claiming that the company does not care about you as a customer, because when you canceled your service, then they will charge you the early cancelation fee that you were told about when you signed up, before the order was even processed, is pretty wrong.

Honestly, when you sign up for a cell phone, or cable, or honestly pretty much anything that gives you a discount on equipment (whatever) you will be asked to sign a contract, this is what they ask, they do not force it upon us, we can purchase the items at full retail price and own it without a contract, but come on we love deals, and that's why the contract is there, because it's a business and they would lose money if you could use it because it's free and then jump to another company..to another..to another. While it is very expensive, and I'd be upset too, but it's based on the number of months that you have left on your contract and that's how you are charged, so much per month.

Not only do they charge up front for the receiver,it also extends your contract from 1-2yrs and you are required to send it to DTV when you end your service or they will caharge you another $480.This does not sound like they care for their customers but only the money they can get out of them.

There are no hidden fees. They're on the contract you signed. You inconvenienced yourself.

bought it, was nothing near what they claim. wanted to get local syndicated stations...were not available...they wouldn't refund my money but i did a charge-back with my bank and they returned the charges to me because they couldn't even verify the company...yes, this is a scam unless you want to watch Muslim tv -al jeserea or some other wierd, third-world tv station. and, after wasting a bunch of time trying to get some sort of workable custom station list, i gave up...never could do that...they are a joke...you have been warned...

Directv in Clermont, Florida - DirectTV SCAM

Signed on with Direct TV. Was not told that this was a 2 year agreement. Was not told that, if you want to cancel early that the early termination fee. I called to cancel BECAUSE i was moving back to NY. Very deceptive in their practices. All of this could have and should have been told to the consumer before we signed on the dotted line. It is not right for them to just put this in writing and to not explain to the consumer prior to installation because they know people will be too involved in getting their service going.
