Just be clear after re-reading my comment below. That 700 was nto generic complaints about companies robbing their accounts without authorization, that was just fir Directv alone for robbing their accounts and issues around unknown early termination fees. ***

Directv in Mineral Wells, Texas - THIS IS BULL$%!&

My name is kabel and direct tv took every penny off my chase debit card. I still had their receivers two months after i discontinued service with them. I received the boxes to send them back two days after they put a hold on my account. I contacted direct tv and they said they did not put peoples accounts on hold that they would draft money from my account but wouldn't place an account on holdthis came from a direct tv supervisor]. They left me with no money for food, gas, rent, or anything else for that matter. If anyone knows what i can do please let me know. I am about to be evicted due to direct tvs lack of humanity. And I strongly discourage anyone using direct tv or any other company that would stoop as low as direct tv

First send their boxes back

second get in touch with your bank and make sure who has a hold on your account if it is directtv ask your bank if you can dispute the charges

if your bank allows you to do this you may have to close the account once the money is replaced in your account to prevent dtv from reapplying the charges later. next

get intouch with a troubleshooter at your local newspaper or tv station sometimes they can help..file complaint (online) with the BBB,FTC and your attorney general explain what has happened and what you want to happen

Directv in Livingston, New Jersey - Direct TV Rip off on refund

I moved from Florida to Virginia on June 1,2010. I cancelled with Direct TV on 15 May,2010. When we rented a place we were told we could not put up a dish on the property. I contacted Direct TV, They deducted $127.00 from my account, without authorization, to complete the contract. I returned their equipment in their boxes immediately. on July 29,2010 they deducted 178.50from my bank, again without prior authorization for non return of equipment. I contacted them and traced the shipment. They received the equipment on July 7,2010 and the information was not communicated to their billing department. When I contacted them again and gave them the information, I was told a refund check would be in the mail in 5-7 business days. 10 days later I phoned again and they could not locate the problem, I started all over again! I was told then 8-10 business days I would receive a check. 20 days later no check, This time I was told it would be six to eight weeks since the final transaction before I would receive a check. They are prompt to get their money but it takes forever for the refund, even when it is their fault!! Oct 7,2010 I received my refund check, what should have been $178.50 was 158.50. I called again, got the run around from India and demamded a supervisor. Mark got on the line and said the $20.00 shortage was a billing adjustment when we discontinued service. That is BS!! I paid the final bill in June,2010. The next step is the TV News Crew and Better Business Bureau.

Directv in Stone Mountain, Georgia - Rude Customer Service

For the last couple of months i've had various reasons reasons behind calling your customer service reps. Everyone that I have gotten on the phone is overly RUDE. They each have a different answer for the questions I have. Maybe they were trained this way but its a really good way to loose customers. I have been a customer with you since 2000 and have recently started having this problem. My 1 account may not be important but if it continues you will loose more and more in this economy I would think that every account should matter. Directv in Burbank, California - Direct TV Rip off

I had Direct TV for about 12 years, in that time we had boxes replaced with a new one. Watch Out! they out source their repairs and they try to get an additional fee when they are at your house saying oh there is an additional instalation fee and please make the check out to the installer. I contacted Direct immediately and they confirmed there were no additonal instalation fees due. Wow! how many people have fallen for that and given the installer that check? Do Not Pay It!! We also had an installer take one of our boxes, we were trading in for a DVR with him when he left; we did not find out that we were still being charged for the old box for three years until we cancelled Direct TV and at that time they informed us that we were supposed to turn the old box in. Another WOW! why didn't they tell us that at the time we were being a good customer and upgrading to a better box what the process was. I tried to get the money back but with no success because I was no longer a Direct TV customer so I had no leverage.

I have only been a customer for 10 months, yet have been ripped off over and over again, but NOT just by contractors!! This company must be stopped.

They are greedy, ruthless and UNWILLING to assist even with a disability issue regarding the LOSS of sound on their service. They are a BAD company! Just saw Undercover Boss with CEO Mike White.

He needs to hear this. RD

On 10/4/2010 i was told that i would have service on the next day.In which hand i had gotten a confirmation e-mail saying that i would have serrvice between 8 - 12 on 10-5-2010.So me and my wife took off work to be here when the install was done so we could be here to learn about the dvr and everything else........ Now it is 1:20 on 10-5-2010 and still no dvr or sattelite tv.so in which hand we are not only out on the watching tv we are also out on 2 days of pay with a figure of 1200 dollars. Who is gonna pay for that??????. I feel sure direct tv wont. I am fitting to cancel this whole thing because some employee does'nt know how do there job........

I am a Direct TV customer and was moving from Maryland to Texas so I called the movers connection and set up to be connected on May the 3rd at 9:00 am. I had called for this appointment 2 months in advance and called to confirm the week before the move.

The day I was to be connected 9:00 came and no Direct TV.....15 minutes later I get a phone call telling me Direct TV was right outside the house. While still on the phone I went outside and looked up and down the street and saw no van. When I asked the technician where he was he gave me the Maryland address where there was NO ONE, not the Texas address where I was waiting.

So, I called and asked what happened and why they screwed up....no answer and I couldn't get hooked up for at least a week. Not very accomodationg considering I had booked 2 months in advance.

Directv in Springfield, Missouri - Billed me for bill that was not due them.

Well here goes, Direct Tv and ATT are both liars. ATT told me that they would bill me for the complete package and that the whole bill would be $95 per month. Now I get bills from Direct Tv saying that they can't bill ATT no reason given. That bill was about $60. Then two weeks later I get another bill for almost $160 and today they cut my cable off when I was supposed to get a bill from ATT only. What a rip off. False advertising and false billing. They lie, lie, lie and take advantage of people.

The Direct TV ads using a Russian mafia dude and a Russian cab driver sucks. This is America, they cannot find an American theme to use for their advertising? I have not and will never subscribe to Direct TV! What else can be said about such absurd advertising. I just hope that the good folks of this great country will consider, if possible, what outlets they use for TV and movie watching. If Direct TV is so big in Russia then use the *** ads there,not here. Has anyone else out there in TV land picked up on this outrage?

Direct TV is awesome! I used the language setup so I can listen to all channels in Russian language.

Oh wow, like I totally get your complaint, like American settlers wasn't from Europe, Africa, Asia and then other countries around the world. Sure, there's no peoples from other countries becoming legal American citizens driving cabs to earn a living and loving the red, white and blue.

I'm sure your ancestors are full-blooded indigenous peoples who were already living on this continent.

Is it that you live under a rock or is it that the school system in IL is so poor they failed to teach you the development of this country, the rich multi-cultural history? Certainly you and Robert aren't bigots, right?

Thank goodness I found your post! I didn't think there was another person in the red, white, and blue that feels the exact same way I do about that.

I remember when this ad came out. It was every other commercial that was broadcast. Total overkill! I think it's a demographical target. I think they had lots of *** european customers right around then & wanted to capitalize on them, not people with brains who wanted an honest service. I remember they did this for other ethnicities to. It's a governmental agenda. They want certain people to consume certain things. They want to keep the idiots walking & kill off people that really understand what's going on.

Thats why your programming is cluttered with *** fools who can hardly speak english saying "opulence..i haze it" ( I think not, Sputnik...back to Russia is where you must go.)Thanks again for picking up on this also. Live long & prosper brother!

Directv in Bay City, Michigan - Direct TV installation..NOT

I ordered Direct TV almost 2 years ago. My original installation time was between 8am and noon on a Saturday. The installer finally decided to arrive at 6:30 pm and was an *** But we got it done and got a $100 credit on our account for the wasted day. Now I've scheduled and HD upgrade. Got 2 emails confirming, telling ME what to do to prepare. All set! Up at 8am and waited. And waited. At 12:20 I called to check the situation and after a lot of sighing from the CS Rep (sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt her day) and several "hold a minute"'s she tells me that she can't find my installation confirmation, that it never was for real. She never looked up the confirmation number I was provided over the phone or on the TWO emails. She just said, well, we can reschedule for Tuesday...NO I'm not taking time off work for this ***. "How about a week from today"? She said. Nope, I have a life and have plans. She says "Oh, sorry" That's it! So today I will spend the rest of my day shopping other plans. Apparently Direct TV doesn't give two $hits about MY time, so I believe it will be my personal mission to spread the word. GRRRR
