Directv in Richardson, Texas - Direct TV- Unsigned Contract
I transferred to direct TV in April 2009 through AT&T who stated I would pay 49.99 per month and my phone and TV services would be bundled. After the first month of service I recieved a bill for over $90.00 the services were not bundled and the because I failed to send in rebate that I was not advised of I did not recieve any discount. I tried to cancel the services and was locked into a twelve month contract for the rebate I did not receive. In addition, I continued to pay the outrageous monthly fees for the lease of the equipment that I was told were free. Therefore I decided to wait it out. This morning I called thinking my contract was over to find out an additional contract was made when we bought our new TV and received an HD box. Now we currently have sixteen additional months left on our contract. The cancellation fee is currently $20 dollars per month for 16 months a total of $320.00 to cancel. The service is poor quality the HD pictures are not always accessible and the is scrambled if the wind blows. I think it is unjust to be locked into a unsigned contract when the service is inadequate. So now I will wait another 16 months and ensure not further adjustments are made by the provider without my consent.
Directv in Washington, District Of Columbia - Ripping off nursing home, dropped channels.
Can't get satisfaction for the poor service Direct TV is giving our nursing home, we have 5 year contract and are stuck with it, have lost 3 channels from our list, one which is USA network, it has just a floating Direct TV icon. I am about to get on Face book and spread the bad news if something isn't done soon, we are tired of getting ripped off! I had to leave my Dish Network at home, no comparison, Dish Network is by far the best choice. Sad you have to rip old people off like this.
Directv in Munford, Tennessee - Terminated DTV
I terminated my DTV service 21 May 2010 due to the fact I have been told several times that I would not be charged for a replacement HD/DVR Receiver due to the May 01 Flooding that occured in Millington, TN (Natural Disaster). I suspended my account in early May till I was ready to move into a new home. I called 21 May 2010 to reconfirm my Installation date of 22 MAY 2010; I was told that I would have to pay for a replacement receiver ($220) and that the Natural Disaster Policy only waived the non-return of your old receiver. I thought i was being taken cared of but today I was not. I have been displaced from my home for 3wks, have a family of 4 which includes a newborn; I thought this was going to be the least of my worries. I was assured initially by Tim, work ID # U4246, that I would not have to pay anything and that anything paid would be credited to my acct (relocation fee, installation fee, etc). Then recently, Joe work ID# 100447329, was going to put a credit to my acct for the receiver (I initially provided my credit card so that I could get the receiver and then be credited). When I called today, 21 May, and after being on the phone for over an hour I was told that there was nothing they can do and I would have to pay for the HD/DVR receiver. I found it odd that more than 3 people said I could get a replacement receiver free of charge due to the Natural disaster policy. Although DTV offers great satelite service; I feel that they didn't do all they could to keep me as a customer. So I terminated my service today.
Directv in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Direct TV suckered me with new customer deal, then took me at cancellation
I was looking for cable and rested on the new customer deal provided by Direct TV. Apparently the deal came with a two year contract - my fault for not reading the entire contract prior to accepting service. The problem is that I moved only four months later into a place that probably would have accepted the Direct TV service, but I was moving to upgrade my life and didn't want *** in my wall or a ghetto dish on my roof like I was willing to accept in the old place. Anyhow, the contract was cancelled and my debit card was charged for the final bill. Needless to say, I was not expecting that much money to be pulled out of my checking account only 10 days after cancellation so, it created a massive financial hardship that they cared nothing about. "It's in the contract". I didn't even get the option of saving up for such an enormous bill, they just took it.
We have had direct TV for over 13 years and they have gone totally down hill. They Lie and steel if they didn't have the monopoly on so many sports I GUERENTEE you they would not have very many customers, now they are tricking people into contracts they don't...

Directv in Augusta, Georgia - Completely mislead me and will not make it right.
In November of 2009 I was told that I could cancel at any time. Well my satellite just went out and they told me that I would have to pay $50 to move my dish. I told them that I didn't want Direct TV anymore because they didn't put my dish in the spot from the beginning and I didn't feel I needed to pay for that. Then I was told that I signed a 2 year commitment. I am about to tell everyone not to use Direct TV because of the customer service and that I was mislead about the 2 year commitment. From the very beginning, I was given all of these promises and now I am finding out that all of these statements and promises are complete lies. Everyone that I know will find out how horrible Direct TV employees are. I am madder than a hornet!!!!!
Directv in Moulton, Alabama - Direct tv scam
I have been a direct TV customer for several years. I've had 3 receivers for several years 1 HD receiver and 2 regular receivers. My problem with Direct began when a regular receiver stopped working. I was no longer under a contract at that time because I had been a customer for well over 2 years. When I called to get a replacement for the broken receiver (not an upgrade), I was told in order to replace the receiver I would be under a 2 year contract. I felt that was unfair to put a contract for replacement and at the time I had no other choice but to get the replacement as my roommate was using the receiver. Next: I decided I would upgrade the other regular receiver to HD, it was old and would problem stop working also, and I didn't want to get stuck again with yet another 2 year agreement. (Are you seeing a scam here?) SO I called and was told it would be a 4 year commitment if I upgraded, but I could go to best buy and purchase a receiver and I would only have the 2 year agreement from the replacement. I go to best buy and I purchase a receiver using a credit card, I sign 1 time for the transaction. I set up everything then call direct to activate my purchased receiver as I was told. Now I'm told it will be a 2 year contract as it was still a lease receiver. Now I made a purchase of a receiver and must have a 2 year commitment when Direct would have given me one without charge and a 2 year commitment... (SEEING SCAM AGAIN?) Now I sold my condo and I'm moving. I have not connected the new HD receiver at this time but I'm still under the 2 year commitment because of the replacement receiver. I question about cancelling because I'm moving and I'm told to cancel it would be 450.00 to cancel the commitment. I cannot afford to pay 450.00 to cancel the commitment caused by the REPLACEMENT OF BROKEN EQUPIMENT. SO I move direct to my new location and set it up. The first installer Dwight I think told me he had to run a line to each TV because I had HD and the picture would not be good if you ran a single line so 3 separate lines would need to be run. Dwight also told me it would be a 3 hour job and he would run the lines inside the wall and now all over the out side of my walls. Well the installers show up and when they leave I have a single line running into my condo and a black box sitting on my bedroom floor with 3ft of wire all over the floor the black box is plugged into an outlet in my room and a glowing green light on at all times. (not exactly what I was told right) Now they set up the new HD receiver for the first time. Now I'm still under the impression I have the 2 year commitment from the replacement receiver Not HD. I'm now told that I'm under a 4 year commitment. When I call and speak to a manager she tells me I'm only under a 2 year commitment for connecting the new hd receiver no commitment for the replacement receiver. If I had been given the correct information I would never have connected the HD receiver. I was tricked into this by incorrect information given reference replacement receiver and I'm now STUCK. I have been a loyal customer not I feel like I'm trapped and can never get away from this company I have be given so much false information by your company I don't trust anything I'm told. Please under these circumstances you can understand the frustration. I do not trust your company I do not wish to do business with your company. I feel like I have been scammed by your company. I do not wish free anything ,no movie channel no free hd for a few months I want away from your company. I cannot trust the information I receive from your company. Why is it only one of your employees has an employee number? I have asked and they only give me first names no id number. It's much easier to ID someone by and ID number first names only don't work. Also placing caller on hold for 1 hour when they ask to speak to a manager is also poor customer service. When I called back I spoke with Regina ID NUMBER 414771 She was very helpful and suggested I write you a letter. PLEASE cancel my contract with direct TV I don't think anyone should be put through this with any company.
DirecTV's customer service has gone south
It is unacceptable to wait a week for a guy to more check my cables before giving me a new *** box. I am not a *** that doesn't know how to check cables. If they expect me to wait for a service rep to come out, they need to add more service reps. I had the exacpt same problem with a receiver in my last home. At that time, they sent me a new receiver and I was a happy cusotmer. Now I would leave if anyother carrier had an MLB package. On top of that, the supervisor hung up on me. They all suck.
Directv in Dallas, Texas - Direct TV is a SCAM!!
Do not give these people a cent!, the product does not live up to what it claims it is (no HD) and 80% of the channels do not work. I set it up on one network and now cant use it on any other. I have unsuccessfuly tried to get them to refund my money and get only an automated response... from a Cathey Gibbons, from the poor sentence construction i would assume that English is not "IT's" first language. Should ahve listend to my instincts, when the deal is too good... Anyways if anyone else out there is thinking about purchasing.. dont!
