Directv in Gainesville, Florida - Direct TV - buyer beware

I'm stuck in a 24 month contract with DTV! They do have great reception for hi-def, but I specifically wanted On-Demand. To me, on demand is when I want it not wait for it to record then watch it. Well, if you don't have hi-speed and are not hardwired directly connected to the DVR, forget waiting for your on-demand program. I've had the same problem with them for the last 5 months, it takes almost 3 days. 24 hours a day of recording to watch a hi-def show! That is way beyond what I want. I've done everything on my end they've asked for, short of ME paying an arm and a leg to be directly connected to the router, which is about +/- 200 feet away. After calling again, because I lose the connection and spending over 2 hours on the phone with their techs, it gets repaired for about 15 minutes, then shuts off again. Wanting out of the contract I was told. Sorry, we can't guarantee your speed or length of time to record something. We guaranteed you a TV connection, everything else is just extra. You will have to pay a $20 per month early cancellation fee totaling about 380 bucks!! All for a service I could not even test out before signing for it. The 30 days you get for a trial I couldn't even count because the other equipment hadn't been hooked up and then when the equipment came in, it never worked to my satisfaction. So, I'm stuck. Don't let it happen to you...Keep Murphy's Law in mind..If it can go wrong, it will and Direct TV's lies will have you paying for it!

It seems Mr. Buttes is on retainer for Direct Tv.I have requested a copy of our signed agreement but they have informed me they do not need a signed contract to charge me for service and charge me over $400 to cancel a service I never signed for.I signed a receipt for the equipment to be installed and never saw or signed a contract or agreement.

For starters nobody specifically wants On Demand but, I'll cut you some slack because most people don't understand it.

When you have hi-speed internet service you can watch On-Demand almost like video streaming in real time. This is true of all On-Demand services. It is not like the actual signal from the TV service that is delivering a real time signal (even this can experience a delay). So, if you have dial-up you should just forget On-Demand. You will just be frustrated like this poor soul.

Now, DTV is not an Internet Service provider and has no control over the speed or quality of your Internet connection. The fact that they have tried to help you get a better experience is testimony to the reason they are #1 in customer satisfaction for 9 years runnning. In this particular instance they have gone out of their way to help a customer who simply doesn't have the correct technology to get the proper service.

DTV is under no obligation legally or morally to let you out of your agreement. They have lived up to their end of the agreement by providing you with TV service at the price they promised. And you said the High Definition signal is great. DTV only guarantees that they can provide you with service, they do not have a 30 day trial period. Once you have your equipment installed and servuce activated your 24 month agreement begins. AUp to that point you can change your service or your mind without obligation. You were made aware of this when you subscribed. So, don't try to weasel out of your agreement by crying foul when you have not been wronged.

Directv in Bronx, New York - DIRECT TV IS A RIPP OFF

People are at the mercy of your bureaucratic policies, hidden costs and encouraging your staff to say no, before they say yes, so the average person will just go away and you reap the financial benefit at our expense. As a result of the way you have chosen to handle my complaints, which is to ignore them until I tell you I'm canceling my service, I will tell everyone I know not to get your service. I will make an extra effort to share my story on line wherever I can get visibility to do so to large groups.

Mr.Seymour Buttes, I reckon you must be one of the *** E ' S of Satellite Direct. You can go on and on defending your un-holy *** and the big-unholy of your boss, but people are not really that *** to not understand what the truth is.

So i suggest you stop wasting your time and my precious time, that i had to waste because i just couldn't resist not replying to your bulls*** comments.

You are only making a B U T T of yourself.

Glenysla...I am with you if I can stop one person from making the mistake of getting DirecttV then all will be worth it! That is exactly what DirectTV does..ignores your complaints hoping you will cancel service and then slap you with a hefty early cancellation fee!If you have a complaint file with the BBB online don't let them get away with yet another scam.Hopefully one day we can put them out of business!

There is no reason to be rude to anyone EVER!

Agron has a valid complaint and it does make a difference how long he has been a customer and never missed a payment. That states a lot about a customer. At least with a decent company it does.

it doesnt matter if you have been a customer with them since the dawn of time, common practice is the same way anywhere. get over yourself. it doesnt matter how long you have been a customer, that doesnt mean your something special to them!

I'm sure your receiver is just fine.DirectTV wants a 2 yr contract from you for the upgrade and at the end of the year if not before they will raise your rates. You will pay for that"FREE" DVR many times over. DirectTV's rating is an "F" with the BBB and they got this by the many thousands of complaints from their customers that was scammed in one way or another by DirectTV.If you are no longer under contract with Direct I'd look for another service asap.

This is to Niagara.

You CAN NOT remove channels from a lineup, what you see is what you get. They're all apart of a lineup that cannot be removed, if you don't like them then DON'T watch them, it's as simple as that. This is not some customizing to your preference services where you can choose which channels you want and pay for them, it doesn't work like that and I guarantee you don't want it like that either cuz instead of your bill being a max $120/month without additional services your bill would be SEVERAL hundred dollars a month.

C n ms...Don't bother tallking to DirectTV.They will not help you! Do call your bank and ask to dispute the charges(some banks will do this)and if the money is returned to your account you will need to close the bank acc to avoid having this run through your account again.

Do file a complaint with the FTC and the BBB(this can be done online) keep a record of all correspondence and calls and who you talked to for later use.You may want to file for arbitration with the BBB if you don't get your money back from the bank. You can get your money back!

I know I did It! Just don't give up.

Looks like we have another victim here. I'm sure that you have never done anything wrong or made an error. Now I don't know what happened in this particular incident but here is my best guess.

Your daughter did not qualify for the refer-a-freind offer. She was required to pay an equipment fee indicating she had bad credit or no credit. Or, she failed to provide the information required to get the offer. Or, the agent at DTV failed to process the offer, which is possible. The first one nothing can be done about. If you don't qualify, you don't qualify. The other two can be rectified if they are legit.

Good luck with your law suit and thanks for increasing the cost of goods and services for us all.

Directv in Bronx, New York - Direct tv sucks and so does allied interstate

We originally had verizon cable,I sued verizon and won. From there I went to direct TV which was the biggest mistake of all. We had them less then 2 weeks and were miss led about service....So we cancelled and returned boxes etc....they then charged $450.00 dollars for service fee that we were never told that we would be charged. And then when then didn't receive the money they hired allied interstate collections and ruined our credit just when we were buying a new home.....They both need to be sued for harassment, and miss leading......

When a Advertisement comes on the volume goes up to the point that it very disruptive Think about it when a baby is sleeping and the sound level goes up and disturbed the child Why cant the sound stay the same? I find that I am ajusting the volume control therought out the day and it must be hard on the equipment too. How about ajusting the sound leavel and leaving it so that viewers won't go through this problem all the time? I don't know if other TV signal providers have this problem but I don't like it

i also have the same problem with direct tv. one of the biggest issues is when we are watching sporting events.

We can barely hear the commentators on air. We usually have to raise the volume to an incredible high and keep a close watch before it goes to commercial otherwise we risk blasting our eardrums.

Funny how we were just on the phone with Direct TV while reading this forum. We have called and called regarding this problem and all they can say is its the equipment (TV) but you can use another and another TV and get the same result oh but they want their money when the service is horrible!

I have the same problem with Direct TV. When I complained about they claimed it was the content providers doing it. Accept it was mostly happening during commercials sponsored by or for Direct tv.
