Looks like we have another victim here. I'm sure that you have never done anything wrong or made an error. Now I don't know what happened in this particular incident but here is my best guess.

Your daughter did not qualify for the refer-a-freind offer. She was required to pay an equipment fee indicating she had bad credit or no credit. Or, she failed to provide the information required to get the offer. Or, the agent at DTV failed to process the offer, which is possible. The first one nothing can be done about. If you don't qualify, you don't qualify. The other two can be rectified if they are legit.

Good luck with your law suit and thanks for increasing the cost of goods and services for us all.

Bless the Beast and the Children. Whiners and Idiots drop dead.

Directv in Bronx, New York - Direct tv sucks and so does allied interstate

We originally had verizon cable,I sued verizon and won. From there I went to direct TV which was the biggest mistake of all. We had them less then 2 weeks and were miss led about service....So we cancelled and returned boxes etc....they then charged $450.00 dollars for service fee that we were never told that we would be charged. And then when then didn't receive the money they hired allied interstate collections and ruined our credit just when we were buying a new home.....They both need to be sued for harassment, and miss leading......

Directv in Tucson, Arizona - Direct TV volume (sound)

When a Advertisement comes on the volume goes up to the point that it very disruptive Think about it when a baby is sleeping and the sound level goes up and disturbed the child Why cant the sound stay the same? I find that I am ajusting the volume control therought out the day and it must be hard on the equipment too. How about ajusting the sound leavel and leaving it so that viewers won't go through this problem all the time? I don't know if other TV signal providers have this problem but I don't like it

a gadget called tv volume regulator is available in the US. Audiovox TV Volume Regulator is one; you may google to get more brands.

i also have the same problem with direct tv. one of the biggest issues is when we are watching sporting events.

We can barely hear the commentators on air. We usually have to raise the volume to an incredible high and keep a close watch before it goes to commercial otherwise we risk blasting our eardrums.

Funny how we were just on the phone with Direct TV while reading this forum. We have called and called regarding this problem and all they can say is its the equipment (TV) but you can use another and another TV and get the same result oh but they want their money when the service is horrible!

I have the same problem with Direct TV. When I complained about they claimed it was the content providers doing it. Accept it was mostly happening during commercials sponsored by or for Direct tv.

Directv in Yuba City, California - Direct TV early termination fee.

I understand that some companies must re-coupe costs from customers that leave without notice some how, but this is ridiculous. $420 for early termination. My cell phone doesn't charge that. I liked Direct Tv while I had it, but I have fallen on financial hard times, and Direct Tv wants to hit me with a fee to cancel. If I can't afford the service, how can I afford the cancellation fee. Do use direct TV if you can have the service without a contract (great)! If not don't do it, unless you are sure you would like the service for 24 months, and that you will be able to afford it.

Verizon in itself is a nightmare. I've had 4 solid years of incorrect billing and internet and phone problems.

Especially when FIOS came into existence.

I logged over 100 hrs on phone waiting for someone from Verizon to help. DTV prices keep going up so I call Direct TV and they tell me I have a 2 yr contract with them with one year left. Verizon assures me changes in DTV won't affect my Verizon non-contract program. LIARS!!

DTY wants me to pay $150 early temination fee if I drop internet that might as well be dial-up.

DTV has no jurisdiction over Verizon but want to charge me fee. Hate Verizon and starting to really hate DTV.

Directv in Phoenix, Arizona - Blocking March madness games on channels I already pay for

Direct TV found it necessary to block the basketball games I was most interested in on CCBS. However my friends that have Comcast and Dish all got the games. When I called to complain to DTV the service representative insisted it was not DTV's fault but if I wished I could purchase the channel. I explained I already paid for the channel and should be recieviing the game. She said no because it was blocked by the league. As I found out later that was an absolute lie! I will be switching my tv provider ASAP! This was merely a consumer rip off for money...

My wife called to cancel our Direct T.V. service on Jan. 12, 2010. She was advised that she would need to pay for the remaining 2 months. She said fine. The representative then stated that she could get 3 free months free if she stayed with the company. My wife asked...

@ Vickie P. I once had a problem with DTV and left them for about 4 months as I emailed their then CEO and he forwarded my email to their retention department in Idaho and they called me and made me an offer a mafiosi couldn't even refuse & ever since then if I call them with any problems/issues or discrepancies - I'll ask to be transferred immediately to their retention department....'and please hurry up!'

p.s.

One such as this would call, write and email the FTC.gov site/office and your States Attorney General, if one feels that -- they've been violated & taken advantage of as a customer. Remember my saying; If you don't ask, you don't get! No, ma'am.

No, ma'am. :x

Directv in Dallas, Texas - Direct TV Bill

I was charged $69 dollars for NCAA March Madness...which I did not order. I called Customer Service, they didn't care. They told me they automatically keep it on their if you have ordered it in the past. I have never heard of a Company doing that. Anyway, they said I was notified about having it and that i had to cancel. Of course, it was in the "small print" Long story short I am mad and would like it taken off. Your employees (one person and a supervisor) said, very rudely, there is nothing I can do. They were extremely rude, blunt and seemed amused that I was questioning what type of business "automatically" charges you for something I did not order. Anyway, I will be doing whatever it takes to cancel my service. Even if I have to pay a cancellation fee, it is worth not giving my business to DirectTV. Great customer service skills you all have. What a Joke!

Directv in Houston, Texas - Charged account without authorization

I signed up online to get almost everything DirectTV had to offer...all channels, sports package, MLB package, NFL Sunday Ticket, etc. EVERYTHING I have in writing states that there was nothing due upon installation. However, 3 days before my scheduled installation date, I received a $25 charge from Direct TV directly to my bank account. They explained that this was a "hold" for equipment because I wasn't being charged for equipment and installation and this would be refunded within 10 days of my installation. SCAM! I did not authorize them to randomly charge my account for "holds" when there was absolutely NOTHING in the agreement that included this charge. I spoke to a "supervisor" named Yanita who had no authorization to do anything including refund my money. I understand that it is only $25, but it is the principal of it that made me cancel my order completely. Yanita apologized that this was not explained when I signed up, but this is normal policy. If this is normal policy, why not just put it in the agreement? Why? Because it's a scam! If this is the way they do business BEFORE installation, I don't want to have anything to do with them and their 2 year contract. I will NEVER be a Direct TV customer and I will inform anyone who will listen that this company uses very BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!

Directv in San Jose, California - DTV Fraud - Don't deal with this company!

Likewise, I am so pissed with Direct TV, that my blood pressure is off the wall! 5 months ago DTV offered a promotion - "NFL Tickets" with free game channels plus HBO Starz etc. I'm not a foot ball fan but thought it would be good to watch some movies. Before the end of 5 months we called to cancel the package - Also to suspend our service for 6 weeks while we were on the road. Imagine our surprise when we were billed $64.99 even though our service was suspended. Two weeks of persistent calls where we were passed from rep to rep and even supervisors and we are finally told we have to pay for the "FREE" service now that the 5 months have elapsed! And no they will not give a refund even though my service is in suspension! To charge for something you can't even receive seems to me is pure FRAUD! No one ever told us there were conditions attached to the "free" offer. I sure wish there was some way to really get to this organization.
