Directv in Nebo, Kentucky - Direct TV misrepresented their services

Direct sales represenatives tolod me lies like 1. You own the equipment afetr 24 months. Wrong 2. You can operate 2 TV's off 1 receiver. Wrong 3. You do not have a protection plan fee. Wrong 4. You are promised great customer service. Wrong 5. When you report a concern they act as if you made up things, their sales staff are knowledgeable. Wrong In fact, if you don't make yourself aware what you are getting, you are at fault because they don't make mistakes 6. Buyer beware, make your call to Dish Network, cutomer service A+

I completely agree with FACT #5. The rep misinformed me, which has caused me to be charged double than the regular package I downgraded to. I called to let them know about the rep's mistake and was made to feel like their mistakes are mine and I cannot be reimbursed.

Directv in Fort Worth, Texas - DirectTV is a HUGE RIPOFF!!!!!!

My family has decided to switch our service to a bundle package and same a considerable amount of money per month. I called to cancel my DirectTV service and they informed me that I am still under contract! We have been a customer since 2006 and I'm still under contract? I signed a 1 year contract! I was informed that any changes to the account means the contract is renewed . . .there has been not 1 person who ever informed me of this until now! I will NEVER use them again! This company is one of the biggest rip-offs I've ever seen!

I had DirecTV for 2 years. Switched to Dish Network because they were offering promotions for new customers. So I'm like, same thing for half the price for a year? So i call to cancel directv and i get a little run around because the receiver broke and they had to deliver a new one and connect it. Their computer system automatically set me up with a new 2 year contract because of this.

I did get the run around but got a guy there to take it off. I then though had to talk to another guy in the cancelation department trying to get me to not cancel. Offered me free HD for a few months or something, but would not match Dish Networks promotion. Also lied and said i have to pay additional fee's for local channels, which proved to be a lie.

Now I get endless letters from DirecTV begging me to come back and they'll give me the promotion I wanted in the first place.

Seems like they like to play games and lie. Won't ever do business with them again.

Yes they are a pita. We have been with them since 1998 and they pulled the exact same thing with us last month, brought up some contact. :(

Where do I start, Directv has screwed me over every time I have an issue. First, when they came to install it took 8 hours, then they didn't give me 2 DVR boxes as requested but I could have another one for an additional $99 - nice. Then I told them I was buying...

I lost my job back in May or June, so we decidied to cut where ever we could. Directv was one of the first to go.

Once we had completely disconnected They waited a month and then charged my card they had on file, 274 dollars WOTHOUT MY CONSENT. That led to an additional 100 dollars in overdraft fees because I had no idea the charge was coming.

Thank you Directv. I will now make it my personal goal to diesperage you to everyone I ever talk to.

Directv in Anderson, California - Direct TV dishonest service charges.

In January we had a problem with our reception. A service representative came to our house to investigate the problem. He discovered that the eye on the satellite was faulty and replaced it. In Febuary we received our bill with a $49.95 service charge. When I called to dispute the charge I was told that they would apply a $35 credit but we would have to pay the remaining $14.95, and suggested I add their $5.99 monthly protection to avoid this service charge in the future. I emailed Direct TV and they replied that they leased the equiptment and as such the service charge was not their problem and I would have to pay it. This is just a marketing strategy to force customers to pay extra monthly fees for their protection plan and as such is an unethical way for them to avoid taking responsibilty for faulty equiptment provided, delivered and installed for them. Once our contract is over we are hooking up our computer to our TV and watching television shows via the internet for free. We may not be able to record what we watch and we may not have some "perks" but at least we won't be paying an outrageous monthly fee to a company that manipultates their customers in this manner.

I signed up for 18 month contract with Directv and have been extremely unsatisfied ever since. First of all, the installer spent more time talking on his cell phone and smoking cigarettes than actually working. He left cigarette butts and pieces of cable and...

In talking with the salesperson and listening to the pitch... I ultimately asked, "tell me how much I will be paying per month after taxes and fees and surcharges..." well, he tells me a figure in the $30 dollar range for the first 3 months and then in the $60 dollar range from months 4 - 12. Sounded great. He also included the referring a friend $10/month discount. So I signed up. Well, the bill has not been less than $80 dollars and it's been almost a year. I called a few times to get it straightened out because me or my brother (referring customer) never received the $100 credit. Well, the Direct TV guy on the other line (after being transferred a bunch of times) told us WE DID IT WRONG in getting that $100 credit. I explained how I was put in contact with a Direct TV supervisor and then 3-way conversation with my brother who fed Direct TV his account # information. The Direct TV supervisor says, ok, all done. You would think that was the right way.

So, I'm not happy with it and I'm sure it was sensed during my phone conversations with Direct TV. So, what happens? I get apologized to death by several different people I get transferred to on the line with Direct TV. And, when I ask to speak to a supervisor... guess what happens? I get disconnected. this happened twice!!! Great customer service tacticts to deal with or not deal with problems like that.

I'm just waiting for my contract to end so that I can crawl back and apologize to Time Warner.

I was a loyal Direct TV customer for years, primarily because they had the NFL Sunday Ticket. Eventually it got so expensive, nearly $300, I decided to go with cable who was my internet provider for a package deal. When I called to cut off my service I was given the same story about some mysterious upgrade I never received or signed for. I asked them to send me anything showing that I agreed to an upgrade, but they told check out a generic posting on their website about upgrades etc.

I called and complained with numerious people and after getting nothing but a run around I decided not to pay it. Now almost monthly I get collection letters along with seperate offers to come back because I was such a "great customer". I've called and begged them to drop it or at least quit sending me offers to return.

I will never deal with Direct TV again. From my experience they are a heartless company who springs BS charges on you and then is determined to ruin your credit for having been a customer. Don't fall for their new "free NFL Sunday ticket" it is a trap and once your in it seems you can never get out.

Directv in Allentown, Pennsylvania - Screwed over in Cocoa Beach, Florida

Here's a kicker was a customer for over 3 years of Direct tv.I moved and had no issues paid out the ying yang to put in wiring issues.I had fulfilled my contract over 12 months and ended up moving to a place that won't allow satellite tv. So, called them got the boxes sent them back like a good girl. Next thing I know they take out almost 400 hundred dollars from my bank account saying I didn't fulfill my contract but umm they made the mistake and told me it would be 4 to 8 weeks to refund my money but it took them 1 day to withdraw the money. Then because I had an extra receiver they said I had to go an additional 5 months so it cost me another 100 dollars. I did everything right and was never late on my payments and I completed my contract...Not to mention the receiver had so many issues there was a point that I had no service in the bedroom cause of faulty equipment grrrrr....They have lost my business forever!!! You don't treat your customers like that and I own a business and believe me when new people come to my area, I won't be telling them to go to Direct Tv!!!!! They are a complete scam!!!!!!!!!

I had simialr experiences, doesn't matter to them what their reps that they trained tell you, this business is all about the fees. I paid the fees, then I went and bought a 1 time fee hd box for my tv so I get the local channels because I'm sick of being scammed by satelite companies.

TV isn't the only form of entertainment! :eek

Directv in Portland, Oregon - Music Channel changes

Just today you changed all of the music channels. Do we get advance notice of such? Can we be told what channels might be similar in music to the old channel. For example you used to have channel 820 Escape and now it is gone. The same as 808 and 811 for country channels. We have been a Direct TV customers for many years and all I am asking is for advance notice or if a channel is being replaced or deleted are their alternatives. Trust me, I want to stay with our present TV provider but am asking for a response.

You have changed the music channel ESCAPE to Contemporary Instrumental. We want ESCAPE back!

It was beautiful, relaxing, enjoyable music. Many of our friends listen to it also.

They are not happy. Please return ESCAPE.
