direct tv is the worst company to deal with. they offer service for 39.99 a month through what they say is a rebate. after such is submitted they have some reason not to give the rebate then charge 89.00, on top of that when payment is not made they go in your account and take money and charge a fee for disconnect. breaking contract, and non return of equipt. when they ended the contract and did not pick up eguipt. 1/15/10 thy went in my account and took over 700.00 that was not there giving my an overdraft charge and no money to pay rent. i called this company to pickup stuff several times as I am home bound and can not take it to them or go to the post office

I asked Direct TV to cancel service prior to my move date of Sept 21, they are now trying to make me pay for a month and a half of sevice when I didn't even live at the house. I refuse to pay. They will move you promptly but ask to discontinue service and you will get screwed. They have sent me to a collection agency but I just throw the letters in the trash. I am not paying for service that I did not use for month and a half. I called and emailed them but of course they didn't have record of a call and they don't acknowledge email.
Directv - Charging me for a receiver while misinforming me.
I have been a dd customer for over 10 years. In november i called to tell them one of our receivers was broken. They agreed to send us a replacement receiver for free. I opened my bill yesterday to a whopping 225.00 charge. I called and they told me that is the charge until i return the old receiver. I was never informed we had to return the old one. so we threw it away. They would not credit me the 225.00 and the only help they said over and over is you should of read the packaging in the new box to return the old receiver. I would of not thrown out the old one if i new i was going to be charged. why would i do that. Now if they do not credit my account i will cancell them immediately and only pay what i owe. Their customer service was so rude and non-helpful. I pay approximately 200.00 a month for tv which is $2400 a year. If they want to loose my business over this then so be it. I can go to verizon for half of this cost.
Directv in Reno, Nevada - We bought or own HD receiver
We purchased our own recevier and think we were going to save money we swithed to direc tv ,when we moved we cancelled with them and that is a hassel with in itself they add on so many fees that they dont even state in a contract, not only that but we just want to send the boxes back and be done even though we bought one and have the reciept. This has been going on for 10 months now.I will sue them if they dont let me send my boxes back and 0 my bill I have had enough!
Directv in Twin Falls, Idaho - DirectTV has failed to provide service
DirectTV has failed to provide us with reliable service from September 2009 to present, January 2010. They won't send a repairman out or send new equipment to replace faulty equipment. Because we signed a contract, they won't let us cancel our "non-service" without paying a penalty! This is a serious rip-off! What has happened to consumer rights? Why doesn't the Idaho utility commission regulate and penalize DirectTV for failure to provide good service? If an entity won't police themselves and be honest and fair to consumers, what recourse does the consumer have? It is another example of the "little guy" getting screwed! David
Directv in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania - Don't switch to Direct, It's a Lie when they tell you, You'll receive the same Coverage!!!!!
We recenty switched to Direct TV to save a Buck or two, WHAT A MISTAKE. We were promised the same coverage, it's dead Lie. I will not promote or recommend this product to anyone. Very Unhappy in Pa... Direct seems to not care about customer satifaction, In our House we call it Nazi TV. If you don't Purchase a ( Special Package ) Your unable to watch a Program thats being aired on a Channel you currantly subscribe too.. Example: If TNT is carrying a Nascar Race, Direct TV will Black out that Program while the race is Being Run. Programming returns once the race is Over.. Dishe Network never wood think about doing such a thing. If ESPN is airing a NFL game other than Monday Night Football that gmae is blacked out, Because we didnt' purchase the NFL ticket. Thinking we were doing the right thing to switch, has been total cluster I wish I had my Dish Network back.
Directv in Hagerstown, Maryland - Direct tv cancellation is a joke....
I have had direct tv for 3 years. I recently moved and tried to cancel it. Direct tv told me that I would be charged $470 for the cancellation fee. I inquired why ( I had already filled my contract) and was told that when I moved, the contract started over and now, I have 11 months to pay. So here I am with my direct tv receivers in a box in the basement still paying the bills. Besides, the cancellation issues and skyrocketing bills, and no local channels.. I lived in Maryland, but got only Pennsylvania local channels?....Couldn't understand that either.
Directv in Phoenix, Arizona - Not Pleased with content
Thirty One out of the 45 channels are dedicated to selling me something. They do not provide entertainment, nor interesting information. I do not pay my subscription so that I will receive more commercials. I do not feel I should pay more for meaningful content. That is what I expected when I changed from DISH to DIRECT. I do not pay so that I may watch shows that are aimed at selling me products. I understant the need for commercials, but not entire shows that I pay for that are simply very long commercials. DirecTV False Promises
When I signed up for DirecTV over the phone I told the sales lady that I wanted 2 HD/DVR's for free since I could get the same thing from Dish Network. She spoke to someone and then came back and said they could do that. I placed my order and paid for one additional DVR. Three times during my conversation I was told that if there were any problems with my order that I would be able to call back and they could play back the conversation because they were all recorded. I should have been suspicous by her even mentioning this. The technician showed up to install my dish and receivers and he only had one HD/DVR, one HD box, one DVR and two additional boxes which I also ordered. He got his supervisor on the phone and they told me that it was not possible to honor that order and that I was never promised that. I sent the technician away and called DirecTV back and requested that my conversation be replayed. I was told that could not be done without a subpoena. I have already cancelled my cable. I am now going to be without everything until I find a replacement or get cable turned back on. I want this fixed.
Oh I am such a sucker. We were living in a virtual forest and forced into cable as a provider, thus we had suffered through the Comcast billing increases and ended up paying what might have been a respectable car payment in the 90s before we recently moved to a new...
