This sounds too familiar. I too signed up for a promotion but they said I didn't go through the right channels so I could not get the bonus and neither could the friend that referred me.

I was warned by a relative they had terrible customer service. I spoke with several people before getting to the right department and no one was willing to give me the bonus I was promised because I ordered using the wrong number instead of using a referral number. I'm sure they could have credited my account somehow if they really wanted to but they had me then so what could I do.

I do not recommend them to anyone else. :sigh

Directv in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Why am I being billed after service is cancelled?

What is the bill for that I received after returning your equipment? Why do I owe $15.48 for? I changed companies due to lack of service from DirecTV. I did not get the services that I was promised nor did I like the quality of the services I did get. Every time the skies got cloudy so did our TV. There was never reimbursement for services lost. The channel selections were redundant and most times incorrectly posted. I would not recommend DirecTV to any of my friends. My neighbor and friend also will be cancelling his services very soon.

I ordered Direct T.V Service November 2008 as they were offering very good deal. I told them I would only want for one year and sales person over the phone said for sure you can disconnect in November 2009 before we change the price. November 2009 when I called them, they said your contract with DVR is until 2010, which I never knew and they never told me and I did not sign anything. Now they are over charging me every month and won't let me disconnect when we are suffering in MIchigan economy. That is very unfiar.

Directv in Nashville, Tennessee - Direct TV - scam

In November of 2009 I switched from Comcast to Direct TV to take advantage of the NFL ticket + the promotional offer. I was told by Dave that I could have the premier package for three months and then drop down to the choice package in February. This would allow me to watch all my games and then drop down to a more affordable package. I specifically asked if when I switched packages after the first three months if I would still be able to get the choice promotional offer of $29.99. He said "absolutley"! It is now January 8th and I am on hold with Direct TV. I am being told that the three month thing was a lie...well not a lie..just "mis information". The promotional period for the premier package is 5 months and isn't up until April 19th. At that time if I want to downgrade I will not be able to get the choice promotional offer. Apparently you can only take advantage of one of the promotional offers. If you're thinking about switching from cable to Direct TV think long and hard about it. Direct TV has consistently lied to me about prices and promotional offers.

I am having the exact same issue. I can sign up for NFL ticket for the promotional price for the 5 months, then I can downgrade to the remaining months for another package at the promotional price.

The guy on the phone told me the same thing.

I too was lied too. Now I am getting the same run around.

Directv in Savannah, Georgia - DirectTV customer service is horrible

Consumers beware!!! I have tried since 9/09 to resolve any overcharge. 3 employees have confirmed the credit due, but I never receive it. Now they say credit is not due!! What happened is that we received HD receivers that never worked and when they were replaced we were chgd $69 plus $49 install. DirectTv rep said we should have had the protection plan for 5.99 per month to replace them at n/c. There is definitely something wrong with this picture-literally. My suggestion is to not get HD receivers.But if you do return it immediately and don't let them talk you into just resetting receiver if it doesn't work.

I have been sitting on the phone for 20 minutes trying to resolve an overcharge. I called to question rate increase.

I was told they cannot help the rate increase but they would give me three months of free showtime.

I said I did not want and never did watch any movies and then got chraged for two months instead of getting it for free. I am still sitting on the phone.

:? DIRECTV IS BECOMING AS DYSFUNCTIONAL AS CABLE TV.

I have been trying for 3 days to get help with setting up the remote to work my sound system.

The sound system work before DIRECTV moved my service to a new location. I have spend hours trying to get someone to help me from the PROTECTION PLAN.

Directv in Tampa, Florida - FALSE INFORMATION

I ordered DVR upgrade from Direct TV. As a loyal customer I was given the DVR for no charge - just the montly service fee. I asked specific questions about installation. They told me there would be no additional charges- they would just switch the reeiver and I would be good to go. Service came out - basically said cannot do it unless I install further equipment and drill holes to the outside of our house - all at a cost to us of course. There is ZERO communication between Customer Service and the subs that do the installation. I was also told that I would need a dVR upgrade for each TV in the house. Contacted another carrier - 1 DVR works on up to 8 TV's. There are no charges for installation etc. so I am switching. Tired of being told one thing and then another - usually at my cost. I suggest others do the same.

I purchased service from Direct TV about 15 months ago. I recently lost my job and can NOT afford the luxury of TV subscription. I called to ask them to have my account cancelled or possibly even suspended and they said they would stick me with a $20 a month early cancellation fee. They renewed my contract when their equipment failed at 12 months and said it would be an additional 24 months from that point, the would be over $300. I told them I will never be a customer of theirs again once I complete this deal and I will advocate that NO ONE subscribe to these crooks for the rest of my life. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO DIRECTV THEY ARE CROOKS and You WILL REGRET IT.

Direct tv extending a contract for 24 months does not mean you are getting a discounted rate. If your direct tv equipment fails and direct tv replaces it then Direct Tv will extend your contract.

I agree with everyone about this company..quite the scam..I was told that I would get a 100 discount for being referred by someone who had direct..I called gave them all the info..they told me it would be a few months before I would see the discount..needless to say I called and was told that I gave my information to the wrong person and no longer could get that promo..then I wanted to switch to hd being that I was getting a new tv..well it was going to cost me $99.00 per box plus an additional 10 per box a month..so when I wanted to cancel..it is going to cost me 380.00 and plus I have to pack up all there *** and mail it out to them...they even had the nerve to send a bill to a friend whos father had past away because she was cancelling his account after he passed..tell me is this the kind of company you want to with..If a friend offers to refer you..just say no thanks

when you sign a 24 month contract you are getting a discounted rate on your service. If you are trying to break the contract of course there will be a cancellation fee, that's nothing new.

If there wasn't then there would be no point of the contract to begin with. and 20 dollars a month cancellation charge for the remainder of the contract is not that bad.

Tried to contact Direct TV because I lost signal on one unit only. After calling six different numbers (first five were disconnected), I finally got their canned tech service. The computer walked me through exactly the same trouble shooting steps I had followed in the book left by the installer. Five minutes I was allowed to speak to the rudest human they could find. The call was concluded without any additional information or resolution. I hung up got on line and resolved the problem by following a recommendation I found on-line. Twenty months and counting to change back to a REAL communication provider.

i signed up two and half years ago cost me 211$ set up and 2yr contract. in aug i had another room added.did not know i was signing a 2yr contract.

cost us 179$ . yesterday called to check on local channels but could not get. informed we would be switching over to direct tv. no begging to stay.....switched to direct tv today.

cost 0...only 2 yr contract..have local channels also. called direct to cancel. was informed they would have hooke up our outside antennas blah blah. too late.

cancel service.

by the way cost $311 to break contract for added bedroom in aug...i spent 179 to have installed and do not remember contract...direct said charged $99 for receiver to leased for twoyears/ plus pay monthly 5.99 service.. i will never ever give direct another dime.

Directv in Nashville, Tennessee - Install hdtv and the following day tv was stolen from my home

I have sumbmit a letter to damage control , On Dec 22 a Direct Tv man was to install the HD on my 40 inch TV and the next day my home was broken in an the window that they came in was next to the dish and a piece of equitment was used. The TV was stolen . I have sent pictures ot the TV poice complant number and the tech nameto the damage control dept . I need my TV replace and my window repace. The direct TV man was the only one that was in my home on those days. I need to get this taken care ASAP. Feel free to call me 615-596-1474 and I am a customer. Your out side contractor need to be bonded and I am very upset if nothing is done I will get a lawyer stolen tv
