Directv in Denver, Colorado - Direct TV is a Scam

I purchased service from Direct TV about 15 months ago. I recently lost my job and can NOT afford the luxury of TV subscription. I called to ask them to have my account cancelled or possibly even suspended and they said they would stick me with a $20 a month early cancellation fee. They renewed my contract when their equipment failed at 12 months and said it would be an additional 24 months from that point, the would be over $300. I told them I will never be a customer of theirs again once I complete this deal and I will advocate that NO ONE subscribe to these crooks for the rest of my life. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO DIRECTV THEY ARE CROOKS and You WILL REGRET IT.

Direct tv extending a contract for 24 months does not mean you are getting a discounted rate. If your direct tv equipment fails and direct tv replaces it then Direct Tv will extend your contract.

I agree with everyone about this company..quite the scam..I was told that I would get a 100 discount for being referred by someone who had direct..I called gave them all the info..they told me it would be a few months before I would see the discount..needless to say I called and was told that I gave my information to the wrong person and no longer could get that promo..then I wanted to switch to hd being that I was getting a new tv..well it was going to cost me $99.00 per box plus an additional 10 per box a month..so when I wanted to cancel..it is going to cost me 380.00 and plus I have to pack up all there *** and mail it out to them...they even had the nerve to send a bill to a friend whos father had past away because she was cancelling his account after he passed..tell me is this the kind of company you want to with..If a friend offers to refer you..just say no thanks

when you sign a 24 month contract you are getting a discounted rate on your service. If you are trying to break the contract of course there will be a cancellation fee, that's nothing new.

If there wasn't then there would be no point of the contract to begin with. and 20 dollars a month cancellation charge for the remainder of the contract is not that bad.

Directv in Sacramento, California - Direct TV - Customer Service Useless!!!!

Tried to contact Direct TV because I lost signal on one unit only. After calling six different numbers (first five were disconnected), I finally got their canned tech service. The computer walked me through exactly the same trouble shooting steps I had followed in the book left by the installer. Five minutes I was allowed to speak to the rudest human they could find. The call was concluded without any additional information or resolution. I hung up got on line and resolved the problem by following a recommendation I found on-line. Twenty months and counting to change back to a REAL communication provider.

i signed up two and half years ago cost me 211$ set up and 2yr contract. in aug i had another room added.did not know i was signing a 2yr contract.

cost us 179$ . yesterday called to check on local channels but could not get. informed we would be switching over to direct tv. no begging to stay.....switched to direct tv today.

cost 0...only 2 yr contract..have local channels also. called direct to cancel. was informed they would have hooke up our outside antennas blah blah. too late.

cancel service.

by the way cost $311 to break contract for added bedroom in aug...i spent 179 to have installed and do not remember contract...direct said charged $99 for receiver to leased for twoyears/ plus pay monthly 5.99 service.. i will never ever give direct another dime.

Directv in Nashville, Tennessee - Install hdtv and the following day tv was stolen from my home

I have sumbmit a letter to damage control , On Dec 22 a Direct Tv man was to install the HD on my 40 inch TV and the next day my home was broken in an the window that they came in was next to the dish and a piece of equitment was used. The TV was stolen . I have sent pictures ot the TV poice complant number and the tech nameto the damage control dept . I need my TV replace and my window repace. The direct TV man was the only one that was in my home on those days. I need to get this taken care ASAP. Feel free to call me 615-596-1474 and I am a customer. Your out side contractor need to be bonded and I am very upset if nothing is done I will get a lawyer stolen tv

Directv in Germantown, Maryland - All cable reps are liars and cheats

I recentley left direct tv to go with Comcast. Comcast has screwed me to the wall and I am being charged 30 dollars a month more than I was quoted and told oh well, you can give up some of your features to get to that price. Cancellation with direct tv has been a nightmare. They already got a month of my money for no service and are trying to make me pay another month and then in 6 to 8 weeks they will refund me any refunds due. We have refused and are demanding a revised bill. They are saying they can't do it and the lady just sat and screamed at me and interrupted everything I tried to say. We have told them we are filing a complaint with the FCC, BBB and our state attorney generals office. They just laughed. Ticked in Texas.

What they do is make the deal seem like its all being done on the telephone. So they basically tell you whatever you need to hear on the fine points to get you to sign up etc.

The real deal takes place when the instalation crew comes out. The paperwork they have you sign is not to say they hooked it up like the instalation crew leads you to believe, its the actual contract your signing locking you into a nbunch of nonsense that wasnt truly revealed in the sales call.

Understand that if you sign up for any promo of any kind you are signing up for 2 years. The 2nd year is at full price. If you are renting a place this is a big deal considering your lease is probably 12 months. Of course you can move your service from ne location to another but be VERY careful as this is when you sign some more paperwork that isnt being properly explained.

I originally signed up with DirectTV ofter horrible service with Comcast. My Comcast serviceman actually told me to go to DirectTV. I took his advice and signed up. I did the Verizon Triple Play and received a whole bunch of Premium channels and a couple of receivers and DVR free. They told me that I had all of these free channels for a few months. They also told me that I would receive the NFL Ticket as well. No offense to football fans but I told them that I would never need that service and requested to cancel immediately. They told me that I had to wait until the end of the promotion period to cancel the services. So when I called to cancel after my promotional period had ended they offered me an additional 3 months of a premium channel (HBO/Cinemax I think). I foolishly accepted and they continued the NFL Sunday Ticket. So, I cancelled the premium channel after the promotion period and thought that was that. After reviewing the next couple of bills and noticed that they were correct I just paid my bill like normal. Well shame on me, I did not notice that they started charging me for NFL Sunday Ticket again. I just got off the phone with those smart-A@#es and they said that I made an agreement and I had to abide by it. I told them that I never authorized NFL Sunday Ticket and they said that I did when I accepted "HBO" and that I never officially cancelled NFL Sunday Ticket. Anyway they made an offer that they would credit me 3 months and remove me from further billing or I could pay the full amount and the cancellation fee of $200 if I didn't like it. I must admit that my service is way better than Comcast but I think both of their customer service departments suck. So if you learn anything from this b%$tch session. Please be aware that there is nothing that these companys will give you for free and there is alway a motive. If you let your guard down, they will find a way to burn you.

When I signed with direct in november I had recieved a pamplet that gave 3 different rates a 29.99,a34.99and a39.99 I chose the 39.99 thinking it was a better deal I also recieved 3 recievers plus dvr box for free.I just got off the phone with a rep and all she did was argue with me that there was no such offer well I keep all records and I tried to explain that it was a true she tells me no it was 44.99.I am terribly disappointed I was misled by the sales rep to start with.My husband says if this is the way they do bussiness we need to cancel which I don`t want to yet I just want things made right by direct.I feel twisted in all directions now its your turn to keep me as a customer.Ruby Huether

Throughout 20 hours OD calling direct tv services during the holidays and today the female tec in miss. hung up on me. All this on top of paying a service fee every month. I have suffered through countless menue,s all with the same message! I cant turn the tv off! They have barracaded themselves in so the customer can no longer get through by phone or web! The programming has deteriorated to repeats which began with repeats each week now, they repeat every day! I can,t even get through to CANCEL the service!....I am an old lady, can no-one help me.please? And are there no other tv service companies? or, have they got the monopoly on tv service? Can the government do nothing, they ousted the phone co. when they did this. And the better bus. b. do they have their hands tied too by this co.? When did this stop being a democratic country? COMPANIES THIS PATHETIC WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF BUISNESS BY NOW. WHEN I WAS YOUNG.

We've had Direct TV for less than 1 year and it seems we have a problem every week with lost signal (have to push reset button ) but this time I get NO SIGNAL AT ALL. Nothing helps.

All it says is "775 problem communicating with dish." Never had that before, and all connections are intact. Here in Phx, weather is hardly ever a problem with a signal, but we're SO pissed with Direct TV.

Had we known, we'd have stayed with COX communications. COX is a lot higher per month, but hardly any problems.

have not had service since 12/30/09 and have to wait until 1/8/2010 to get checked is terrible service when you are paying extra for the service plan.I have missed all the bowl games and have paid for the sunday ticket and missed all of the games for the final week and its frustrating when you call the service number and they won't give you a superrvisor when you ask and could care less if you get it working or not just wants you to accept what ever they tell you and and have the nerve to get an attitude because your upset. Now that the nfl season is over I'm thinking of cancelling it all together. Pissed off in Urbandale,Iowa

Please keep channel 5 Seattle, as it our most viewed local channel for any and all our local news. Not doing so could make us look to other resources
