DirecTV is Terrible!
DirecTV is terrible. Simply put. I'm on hold right now and have been waiting for a supervisor - I've been on hold for over 25 minutes!!! They are trying to charge me a relocation fee even though it was the installers fault! This is my second call - the first time was a few days ago. Was transferred to multiple people and then hung up on while on hold. Another 20 minutes down the drain!! I have three other negative stories I could tell and my disgust is warranted on each and every one, I promise you that. Please, don't order DirecTV, they're terrible.
Directv in Cape Coral, Florida - Bill never the same twice
The request was simple. Your service must be cheaper than my current Cable bill.Never was the bill the same twice.(Phone calls letters.) I was told I could move with no additional charges because I told Direct that I did not want any contract at all, much less 18 months. After more phone calls and several letters the bill seemed to stabilize until I did move and I was at the end of the first year. Well while I was waiting at my old house for the service teck he was at my new house with a new dish at no extra charge, or so I thought. He stated that I would get free HBO,cinemax and stars just because I moved ! What a deal. The original bill increased and I was charged for all of the supposed free channels. I canceled me service at the end of my 18 months and that's when the real fun began.By making my monthly payment after I moved I automatically agreed to a new contract with out ever being told. What a company! Assumed contacts. What a great concept! Once, much earlier in the contract I thought I might be late so I paid with a credit card. My credit card has paid 2 charges that occurred after my cancellation and after all the BS charges they could possibly charge were paid. When I inquired about this low and behold Chase and Direct TV are business partners. I have had more than enough and will be taking Direct to Small Claims.I have never had such a bad experience with any company I have ever dealt with. Don't put up with there *** TAKE EM TO COURT.
Directv bait & switch program
I responded to Directv ad which advertised NFL Sunday Football Package w/ HD DVR receiver for $59.99 on the internet. When the installer came he installed all their equipment and disconnected(cut cables) my cable. He installed 2 standard receivers and I told him I was to get HD DVR receiver. He called someone and they said i would have to pay $10 more per month. I said OK. He was ready to leave and I told him HD picture was not working. He said I just had to select HD channels. He left and I spent the next 15 minutes surfing for HD to no avail. I called their 800 number to get what they advertised and was told I would have to pay $300 immediately to get the package they offered for $59 per month. I refused to get "bait and switched" so they terminated their service. I was told to package their equipment up to be returned to them via Fed Ex. I asked them to send their tech back to hook my cable back and remove their dish from my roof and they told me to call the installer. The service installer did not answer phone. So here I am w/o anything. I called the cable co. and I will have to pay to have cable installed so I can have my cable back. Their call center reps were disrepectful and obviously trained to handle their scheme of doing business this way. Stay far away from this rip off company!!! How do they stay in business with pratices like this???
Directv in Liberty, Texas - Incorrect billing. Called 3 times this month to correct.
Made 3rd call this month to pay my bill. Turned back on 6/5/2009. Was told by Direct Rep. that I would receive Starz, Cinemax and HBO channels free for three months. Took me 5 calls last month to get corrected. Today Anthony, Badge No. AQ0314, told me that I would not receive this promised credit of $36.00 which I am due through September, 2009. My bill should be @ $79.00. Anthony gave me some person who said he was a supervisor and he just told me the same garbage Anthony did. 2nd person told me his boss in the corporate office is "Michael". I expect this credit and am furious that I was told a lie by both men. I want this corrected immediately and expect a call from corporate to verify this has been done at 501-467-6292. I am just an ordinary person but I do appreciate being treated in this shabby manner. Is this how Direct wants to be thought of or talked about as? Directv in Denver, Colorado - Direct tv never advised of 2 yr contract
Due to being out of work,I "bundled"with Qwest to have internet,phone and direct tv all together.No one ever mentioned I would be under a 2 yr contract.not Qwest,not the installation guy.It wasnt til I called to reduce our service to a cheaper plan that I learned I was being billed for movie channels,then I mentioned being out of work and I may have to disconnect all together and that's when I was informed I'm under a 2yr contract.And apparently if you break that contract you are charged a hefty amount.I felt scammed.The movie channels are free for a period of time,but you will be charged if you dont call and cancel.This is a ridiculous set up,just for some cable tv.My recourse,if I have to use it,is direct tv never got my landlords permission to install,which they are supposed to do.I dont want to be stuck with a bunch of charges if I cant pay my bill due to lack of work.
Directv in Baldwin Park, California - Direct Tv TECH harrassed my wife!!!!!!
I am a U.S Infantry Marine currently deployed to Iraq serving OIF 9. Im getting ready to come home so i moved my wife to CA. Purchased an apt and furniture and she is there receiving all the stuff and setting it all up for us! I called Direct TV and purchased their service. a week later a tech showed at my home to install the equiptment. I called my wife a few days later to see how everything went and she was humiliated by the technitian from diect tv!! He was asking her if he could take her out on a date or to go to the beach with her, after she clearly had stated that she was married! Theres pictures of me at the home which he asked about and she told him that i was her husband! She had to be nice about it because she was alone and scared and didnt know what he would do! He then aked for her personal number and asked if he could give her his!!!!!!!!!!! The next day he called her during the night and woke her up asking if she was ok with her service and if she needed him to come to the home for anything!!! He then asked her if he could double date with her!!?!?! I have had a kill mentality for 7 months in iraq, and this guy does not know what he has coming when i get home, I will be calling him and requesting his "service" when i get home, i will then remind him of a few manners!! I will be seeking a lawsuit towards Direct TV.

DirecTv Early Cancellation Fee I Got My Money Back!
DirecTv did not honor the price they quoted me with my order. After refusing to correct the problem after my first bill, I canceled service. They automatically billed me for a HUGE early cancellation fee. It took me a couple weeks and some fighting, but I got my money back. You can too. You have to beat them at their own game using thier own rules that they spell out in their customer agreement. Want to know how I did it? Directv in Hagerstown, Maryland - DVR not hooked up right
We got this Directv hooked up 12-31-07 and we 4 box, 1 being the DVR. Happy with till a friend got the DVR and ask us how did we like being able to watch a show and record 2 at the same time? and I was like what we can't do that. So I call and talk to customer and ask why my will not do this and they tell there has to be 2 wires hooked up and to look at my box and see if there was and no there was not and she told me they could do that for me if I would like, well yes we are paying for this so yes!! I was told it would be no charge since we care a proc. plan well guess what, nope I have to pay to have some one do this. Spoke to Manger and all and they do not care that it was not hooked up right from the start. Was told if I would have told them this when it was hooked up they would have fixed it, But I didn't know it should have done this, the person hooking it up did ask me if I wanted it, they are the ones that hook it not me???? I told them that if they did do it for free I would be canceling my service and he said sorry to hear that. I ask when my contract was up and it is up on and it is 12-31-09 and trust me I am canceling!!!!
