Directv in West Milford, New Jersey - Horrible installation and customer service

The company came over to my building and left cables haning over the building, instead of properly placing them in the right place. I have children in my building and it can be dangerous. I've called the company and have been on hold for over an hour. Repeating the same story over and over. The work was done by a lazy *** employee who can care less how he works. The cable looks horrible hanging over the buidling. Direct tv has to do something about this. Get a contract w/another company or keep on losing your customers. A very annoyed customer.

Directv in Los Angeles, California - False charge for service

When TV service ceased to work properly,Direct TV replaced a unit determined on the phone to be defective. The replacement box was shipped with no indication of add-on charges. System failed to work with new box. A subsequent service call by a service rep determined unit was not defective. After service rep rewired the setup, the original box determined to be OK. The Service rep told me "keep the box". When I moved to complex that did not permit dishes, in spite of the fact that replacement box returned to Direct TV, Direct TV charged me a $400 cancellation fee. Multiple calls and explanations did not prove helpful. It appears that they routinely ship new boxes to assure continued billing.

Directv in Chicago, Illinois - Customer Service is beyond terrible

They must get ratings for positively the worst customer service I have experienced. Once you get through the 'enter your number' blah, blah automated attendants, you do get a real customer service agent. They ultimately cannot fix your problem, so they put you on hold, and you are disconnected. Trust this - I tried it 3 times this evening, got 3 different agents, got disconnected 3 times. All because they could not figure out why NHL Center Ice was not accepted on my receiver. Take your chances with ComCast - these guys just don't have a clue - I call once a month with billing errors or other *** human/technology tricks, and they are completely unable to assist. Really pissed, and switching.

Good luck with that...I had direct tv for 6 days, was on the phone with them at least 5 of those days. Told them to turn the service off and they are telling me the I owe $462.00!!!!

Early cancellation fee.

I was never told about a contract. If you have any suggestions on this fight, please reply.

i am disputing a bill that directtv is charging me for. i am not in the residence and have not been since june 30, 2008. they have taken my 200.00 deposit and still charging me for months that i did not have their service. i have an attorney that will get this straight if you cannot help. i have paper work showing that i was not in the residence. client ref. n. 80615435. i am not paying for a service that i did not receive. do you want to pay for a car that you did not take home. i think that before placing people in collections, the collections department should know the truth about what is going on with the whole picture instead of listening to just the company. the world is already messed up why hurt the consumers anymore.

Directv in Bullhead City, Arizona - They illegally used my debt card without my permission.

I called and canceled my service 1 day after getting it hooked up because we were not statisfied with what we received. We were mislead. They did not cancel my service after the first day I had to call back two more times before it was disconneted. Therefore according to their records I had service for 4 days. I was told I would be billed for a cancellation fee and could dispute the charges. Then I checked my checking account a week later and they debted my account for $526.52 which I never authorized and made me overdrawn. I never signed any paperwork for the service when it was installed and I never authorized for them to deduct any money from my account other than the first transaction. When I called to complain they tried to tell me when I signed up and gave them my credit card number to pay for the one time charge of $100 that they have the right to charge my card if I cancelled. I was never informed of this and never authorized or received anything in writing to state they would do this. I am extremenly pissed!

Directv terms & conditions of use state they can use any card information they have on file to collect a balance if there is any-whether you want to dispute it or not (section 5e). By using any service or any company you are agreeing to their terms and conditions, whether you are aware or not.

after dealing w/ this from another company, I read the terms & conditions for any service.

I actually read it, not just skim it. those few extra minutes can be worth it.

Directv in Vancouver, Washington - DirectTV is a big Scam and Ripoff HORRIBLE

We constantly get the 771 searching for signal area. There is absolutely positively nothing that can be in the way and the weather is perfect. They want to charge 79.95 to send some boy out to look at it when it is THEIR product that is the problem. Also they have overbilled us nearly every month for the past year. We have to CONSTANTLY call and get it sorted out. Correct one month then WRONG again. What idiots. And the customer service is rude and useless. AND that 2 year contract ! that big CEMENT BLOCK around your neck. NEVER EVER AGAIN. NEVER. HOW COMPANIES LIKE THIS CAN BE ALLOWED TO RIP PEOPLE OFF IS JUST BEYOND ME. They have no ethics and morals.

I totally agree with this article...I am having exactly the same issues and every month they keep on adding the NFL Ticket to my account, even though I cancelled it a year ago...and have to phone each month to get a refund....I can go on and on but the bottom line is, CABLE HERE I COME!! (and I am telling everyone I see, talk to or bump into)

Directv in Los Angeles, California - They didint mention any 2 year contracts

Im a new customer and when I ordered service they said to me that they had this special pakage that included 4 boxes, one of them was a hd dvr all movie chanels and nfl tiket for 4 months and I would only pay 64.99. They failed to mention that ones they intalled my services I would be under a 2 year contract and now they are trying to charge me $96.oo for hd services and cable boxes that suposevely were included in the pakage I though I was getting. I can,t even cancel now because they have my credit card info and they are going to charge me $400. if I do. I never agreed to this contract I wasn't even told about it when I called to have my services connected. They suck, they will steel your money do not ever get Direct tv. I feel so *** their has to be something we can do.

Directv in League City, Texas - Direct tv has no respect for new customers

Direct tv scheduled to come to our house between 8am-12pm for new service. My husband took off work to wait for direct tv to show up. At 11:50am direct tv calls and says they don't have enough receivers and would have to come back later in the afternoon. Direct tv should have called in the morning to let us know that they weren't coming between 8am-12pm. My husband lost time and money waiting for direct tv to show up. They have no respect for people. We told Direct Tv we don't need your service. I would not recommend Direct Tv to anyone.

I too am not happy with my initial DTV arrangement. Signed up online and they gave me choice of installation times.

I chose today January 2nd. They called me 3 days prior to date to confirm. Here it is January 2nd and I get a call saying they don't have enough techs to install so the next earliest date would be January 18th. Are you kidding me???

Sixteen days have to pass??Is this how DTV works? I am going to check my method of pymt, cuz if they have already billed me I am going to be even more upset! I am half tempted to cancel the whole gig.

It's not my fault they don't have enough techs. Gosh, I'm steamed right now!

I too have had a problem with Direct Tv. It may not be the company but maybe the contractors they use.

These people showed up early and insisted on entering the home with my 13 yr old daughter.

Plundered around and said they could'nt install the dish....I own my own home, a townhouse. They said I would have to get permission from the landlord...duh

Directv in Dallas, Texas - Direct TV Rebate Scams

Direct TV's rebate offers are deceiving at best and downright dishonest at worst. When you call to complain the customer service reps are rude. Their website makes one claim,then when you order installation they make another claim. The right hand blames the left hand, and they have you jumping through so many hoops it's a miracle if you ever get your promised rebates. The rep that takes your order over the phone does not tell you that you have to submit a rebate coupon and wait six-eight weeks for the rate they quoted to kick in. I will also probably never see the $50 referral fee.

I recently went through my own nightmare with directv i signed up for basic I mean basic service when the sales rep came out the entire order was forest gumped up i ordered for 2 TV,s to be set up he came with 1 receiver and the incorrect one at that a hd-DVD he said since i,m here even thought the order is wrong let me get you service 6 hours later he had dug 3 holes in different parts of my yard before he finally got his signal laid 50 feet of cable through my yard drilled *** in the frame of my door "hitting the corner of my door at the same time "which he never told me laid cable down the center of my living room left all this exposed ,,this is their idea of "PROFFESIONAL installation then the bills started to come in my first bill which was suppose to be 103.00 was 147.00 the second bill came in at 187.00 I was so pissed at the service I never got I called to cancel and was sent a bill for$ 404.00.PS. I injured my foot when I had to dig the 50 feet of trench to bury the cable they said "we don,t do that" now I,m in physical therapy but I may have to get a cast when you call to complain one day I was transferred 22 times ..SOUND FAMILLIAR..it,s not my fault let me get you to some one who can help..HA HA .Worst customer service I have ever had I better stop their is not enough memory on my computer to go over the hole fiasco MY ADVICE STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM DIRECTV!!!!!!!

Direct TV is overcharging my account for services that were to be provided for "free" They will not provide a statement because our account is zero. Direct TV will not provide a bill because I am on auto pay.

I called for duplicates to be mailed because of excess charges on my credit card. Staff at Direct TV threated that we have your credit card and will charge $480 in full even though the contract states $20/month. Direct TV keeps telling me I am on contract for 6 more months than my written contract states. They will not change and said will auto charge my credit card or cancel and charge $480.

Deceptive, misadvertising, illegal access of credit card use.

I have to cancel my credit cards, then they say you don't pay you will pay for our attorney. Threatening.
