Directv in Rock Island, Illinois - Cancellation Scam + Personal Endangerment

I had Direct TV for about three months before I canceled because my service was out for nearly a month. I later found out that this was because they had installed my dish 50 yards behind my house and laid the wires write on my lawn. They did not tell me that they were there, nor did they bury them. The man who mows my lawn hit the wires and knocked out my service. I could not believe this installation. I took multiple pictures of how this company endangered my family by simple laying wires right in reach of anyone. Furthermore, I too was involved in a similar cancellation fee scam. I live in Illinois where we have a state mandated 90 day grace period. I canceled my service within that 90 days, but barely. However, it apparently took 5 days to "process," thus putting me just past the 90 day grace period. Direct TV is seriously a miserable excuse for a company that exploits Americans in every way that they legally can, as well as, ways that they legally can't, just hoping that no one catches them.

As much as I agree with you about the poor installation maybe you should read what you sign and get up from the *** tube for a minute and use your backyard! Three months is a long time to let a problem go like this......seriously

Directv in New York, New York - Unauthorized Debit Card Charges

In August 2008, my directv service was disconnected for non payment. I only owed the one month, which I do not dispute. Two weeks later, I received an email stating that they had discontinued my service. On 09/29/2008, I attempted to pay my electricity bill with my credit card. To my surprise, the charge was declined. When I checked my balance, DirecTV had charged my card, $179.17. When I called them, I first spoke with a girl who barely spoke english, becoming increasingly frustrated after spending 10+ minutes on hold, I asked for a supervisor. I was then transferred to a Gentleman named Dax, Dax refused to give me his last name, but informed me his ID # was 100292449. I explained to him what had happened, and that my car had been charged for more than what was owed. I had service for more than 4 years, so there was no early cancellation fee. After he reviewed my file, he agreed that On 09/22/2008, DirecTV had cut my new Bill, now note that I had NO service for the month of August. On the same day, 09/22/2008, they [Directv] charged my card for the same amount that they billed me for. This bill was not mailed to me, emailed to me, nor was the charge authorized. I did not, nor have I ever, elected for automatic bill pay. THE CHARGE WAS MADE WITHOUT MY CONSENT!! After getting a long speech from "Dax", I hung up the phone. I am sure I will not hear from them again, but he assured me that I would hear from his supervisor, whose name is "Marlon" his voice mail number, NOT A REAL VOICE number, is 956-784-7088. So on 09/22/2008 DirecTV cuts a new bill with inflated charges, On 09/22/2008, they also pre-authorize my credit card for the amount of the inflated bill, On 09/27/2008 they post the charges, aparently this 5 day period was to see if I would notice the charge. On 09/29/2008 I spoke with "Dax", and reluctantly I will see if they will keep their word. I will update this post when they do. Until then, Beware of DIRECTV!!!! So what happened? I was charged 653.37 due to my boxes...I had been on the phone with direct tv regarding my boxes three days before and they were aware i had not sent them due to a discrepancy in my bill. They charged my account...now I am down 653.37.

Directv scams its employees

Directv doea not take care of its good customer service technical agents. The employees that really value that customers and take what time and research needed to resolve the customers issues. These good csrs are penalized by the company by not getting their incentive payouts and some time their payroll checks which in the end causes these good csr reps to leave DTV. The Customer Service Reps that remain are low caliber human beings that have tattoes, noise rings, have moehocks and are overweight and filthy poor uneducated individuals that can't get a job anywhere else loser employees that make $9 to $13 hour. These are the people handling your DTV account. DTV rewards csr that do not roll trucks for sc, send out remote controls or receiver replacements and who do not issue credits because these stats tie into incentive payouts so instead of the csr doing the moral and just right thing for the customer they disc calls for searching for satellite to avoid setting up service calls, tell customers to get remotes from retailers and refuse credits that the customers entitled to. DTV also tracks seconds between a call, how fast a tech gets off the phone and if a tech says everything they should on the phone and if they transfer a call. Its a model for poor customer service to the customer and I'm sorry I work for DTV and have done this to customers to earn a living.

I work for the company as well, in their customer service dept. I laughed reading your post because you're calling these employees losers because they have tattoo's piercings etc.

why does that make them a loser? when you couldn't even spell or form a proper spelling to save your life :grin this is total bs!! they are the best company, they care about their employees and customers and provide wonderful, affordable benefits with excellent pay, lots of room to advance.

so if you feel like a loser, then go to therapy, and try getting a better job if you don't like it..maybe because you're the loser and can't!! :p

until you hit the floor and then make it impossible to make any commission so if you are happy w/ $9.00 go for it! The most *** poor supervision I have ever seem in my life... When you are doing well and are making sales they praise you, then the minute you are having a bad day they say things like you are being lazy etc... This company is absolutely horrible, the worst work experience I have ever had in my life...!

Be careful, I am not kidding this is a scam from the employees getting screwed, right down to the customers.... Foreign owned lying, cheating B.S.

LOL when the elevator went down, half of the people called in because they couldn't use the stairs due to lack of fitness. I wouldn't wish DirecTv upon my worst enemy.

I also work for Directv as a technical specialist... and honestly the demands of the job are a bit much for me to handle.

I can't keep my handle time under 720 seconds while keeping from scheduling more than 2 truck rolls per day, I can't process all the information that quickly. I can't see how Directv policies are the best for promoting good customer service, so I can see your point there. But to take your anger for Directv out on others and say that the only people who can succeed there are "low caliber human beings that have tattoes, noise rings, have moehocks and are overweight and filthy poor uneducated individuals that can't get a job anywhere else loser employees that make $9 to $13 hour" is completely ridiculous. A tattoo or a hairstyle or a piercing represents a phase in a person's life.

It doesn't make a person any less human, or imply they're less educated or poor.

I won't even go into that aspect any further because if you don't understand what's wrong with that statement then there's nothing I can say to affect your egotistical small-mindedness. I worked for Directv and I can say that is the worst job that I have ever had. In the call center there was racism that went over looked and they did not care about there employees.

Sexual harassment was a huge problem but your own supervisors and team leads were doing it. So many reps. hanging up on people or just transferring them to another department so they did not have to deal with that call. The supervisors were more worried about when you went to the bathroom than how your performance was.

I had been working in customer service for over 6 years when I moved here from NY to AL. Directv was the first job that I took and at first it seemed okay but after a few months it was completely awful. The things that went on never went on in any call center that I worked at in NY. Right before I got there they had an outbreak of crabs in the ladies room and had to have them exterminated.

How disgusting is that? The would write you up if you gave customers credits that they deserved and if you took to long on a call. Technical support was not easy and the people calling in did not even know how to use the remote, hook up anything to the receiver, or understand their bills at all.

I would not recommend anyone to work for Directv and their service is not the best.

I had more problems in the year that I was with them.

I have been with Dish for now three years with out any problems. Dish has the same quality, less expensive, and offers more HD channels.

i worked for direct tv up till today. i got fired, for having too many repeat service calls. actually, i got suspended today. but i was told to call my supervisor 3 days from today to see if they wanted to bring me back to work. (a polite way of firing someone, i guess)

the majority of the service calls that i got fired for today, were related to defective equipment that i installed in customers homes. now since i didnt build the equipment,(receivers)you would think that direct tv would look to blame their qc department. or, whoever has the job of making sure that the equipment we install is working good.

since january 2009 direct tv has been cleaning house. it has become very easy to get written up, or fired. and this decision comes down from corporate. field supervisors are ordered to obey. the people who fired me today have never even done an installation. but with so many people out of work, finding my replacement will be super easy!

i have not gone to file for unemployment yet. somehow, i get the impression that i will not be receiving it either. guess i'll find out 3 days from now.

I happen to work for directv myself and i do understand what you mean about directv not being fair to its employees or to customers for that matter. But the thing you have to ask yourself is what makes directv any different from any other big corporation?

When it comes down to it the only thing any company as big as directv cares about is profit. And if all you can do is critisize the people that work at directv when you still work there yourself seems to me that your a bit incompetant yourself? I may not like my job of having to deal with people who are pissed because someone like you didn't offer what you could to retain the cust or you really dont have the ability becuase your not a retention agent but i still do what i can to help the cust regardless of what policy may be becuase for me i just really dont care if i get fired as long as the cust is satisfied. And as far as not wanting to set up service services calls and order replacements if your not going to do the right thing for the cust by setting up these services then you just need to find another job.

you do not get penalized for doing these acts unless you do not trouble shoot the issue first to find the cause of the issue.

if you feel that troubleshooting is a waste of your time well then i guess you would fall into that loser employee category that you seemed so inclined to talk about which by the way most of us may not like our job but are just lucky to have one. get a life *** and if your too much of a punk to do the right thing then send those cust to crg and i will take care of them the right way and by the way they do track calls that you release and it shows against you too.

Also, since when did people having a tattoo or piercing have anything to do with their ability to take a phone call and help a customer?

I've worked in call centers since I graduated high school back in '03 and know SEVERAL people with piercings and tattoos and they know just as much, if not more, than anyone else. Those things you listed have absolutely NOTHING to do with someone's ability to learn and do a job.

You were probably passed over for something to someone with one of those qualities and so now you're jealous of them.

Seriously, get over yourself and don't criticize people for being themselves.

God help me if I ever have to call somewhere and end up dealing with you.

I believe Direct TV is extremely crooked also but if you want people to take it seriously, saying asinine things about people being overweight and having tattoos that spelled to imply that it involves them being low caliber human beings is not the way to get people to take notice. Especially when you are insulting education and misspelling a significant portion of what you are writing. You are hurting your own message.

Directv in Medford, Oregon - Direct tv Sucks

Not only did the DVR quit working withing 110 days the first time (they have a 90 day waranty) but so did the next THREE. One replacement came non functional. But the satalite was never alligned properly to begin with and I had terrible reception if at all when it rained or was cloudy. Now two years later after my 24mo commitment is up and I cancel they want to charge me for a early cancelation. They say everytime you get a new DVR it starts your 24mo. commitment over again. What a joke. Stay away from Direct tv. Every time I had to call customer service it was fumble your way through 10 minutes of automated garbage to talk to a customer service rep who transfered you to a tech who gave me the same story, not until my last DVR broke did I actually talk to someone who knew what they were talking about and figured out that my sat. had never been aligned properly as well as never to push the red reset button like all the other techs had said to do. I believe they know they are sending out bad product in their DVR's and it is a way to eek more money out of us for service we can not count on even having. The fact that this company still has clients is a testomoney to how *** we can be as persons. Run away from DIRECT TV they are crooks.

I would like to complain about the unfair termination fees that Direct TV charges. I noticed I was not receiving some of my channels that I was paying for. I called DirectTV and they stated it was because my receiver was outdated and I needed a newer one. I said ok, and that was that. In the past few days I was looking for a better deal, in which Comcast gave me one. I contacted DirectTV and they informed me I was under contract for 18months. I told them I was not, and they said once I activated the receiver, it put me into another contract. If I wanted out, it would cost me 280.00 This is clearly fraud and I am amazed this company stays in business with these deceitful practices. I have written a complaint to the Attorney General's Office. I hope the government gives them a fine, plus make DirectTV send out "written" contracts, in which you should have to sign for it so you may know what you are getting into.

HAS LIED TO ME EVERY STEP OF THE WAY WITH MY ISTALATION WHEN I TRIED TO CANCEL INSTALATION THEY KEPT MY SECURITY DEPOSIT EVEN THOUGH I CANCELED WITH IN 3 HOURS OF INSTALATION ... THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD GET 4 RECIVERS I GOT 2 AND THEY REFUSED TO GIVE BACK MY MONEY..

THEN THEY ADV IF I CANCELED THAT I WOULD NOT RECIVE EARLY TERM FEE ... AND 2 WEEKS LATER I SIT HERE WITH A BILL FOR 400.00

Directv in Stone Mountain, Georgia - Direct TV took $787 out of my bank account for recievers- no warning

I have been out of work and fell behind in bills. I did not cancel direct tv. I recieved empty boxes with no letter and as I checked my bank account to see if I could pay rent. I was surprised to see $787 withdrawn from my account. It was only a day after receiving the empty box. I immediately put the receivers in the box and shipped it to Direct TV. They would not release the money on hold. Bank of America would not co-operate either. I called numerous times and did not get anywhere. I was just told to check the website since it gives them permission to do what they did. Never give your bank account number to anyone.

Please do not deal with Direct TV unless you have to. They have consistently messed up my bill. They are horrible to deal with as 1 phone call can take 45 minutes or more. I have the Direct TV account on direct draft and they sent me a notice that I had not paid my bill timely. The reason was because they posted another customers check to my account in error and then did not draft out enough to cover the current month charges. When they reversed the other person's check they sent me a passed due notice and a late fee to pay.

I have been getting the MLB games that i paid $143.00 for. I live on the west coast in oregon, i need to watch the back east baseball games. Today September 27/08 i could not get any back east games. i called direct tv twice all i got was they were sorry and could not help me. It is beining blacked out in my airea i asked why and was told sorry they did not know. they just take your money. I hate direct tv I switched from the dish they did not offer the MLB pack. lorelei

I closed account within three days. They turned me over to two collection agencies. I had to write both of the certified letters that I owed them nothing. it has been over a year & I have 2 HD boxes and another box plus the dish and 100 feet of wiring. they robbed my bank account, even when I changed debit cards. I had to change banks all together. On the 11th month a man from the President's office called; but I would not talk to him. the phone number is 1-800-666-4388 @ 2230 E. you ***...........the office of the president at Direct TV only handles escallations such as your problem. They do not collect on problems they fix them for you so you can go on living your life without intrusion...........They are as high as it gets........someone was trying to fix everything that happened and you screwed it up ....but then again whats to be expected from an *** that cancels within three days!

i WAS JUST TOLD BY DIRECT TVTHAT THEY PLACED US IN A CONTRACT AFTER THEY SENT A REPLACEMENT RECIEVER BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THEIR POLICY AFTER WE GOT THE RECIEVER, THE GIRL IS TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, THE COMOPANY POLICY IS TO SCREW CUSTOMERS. THEY JUST TOLD ME TO HAVE MY ATTORNEY CALL THEM.
