Directv in San Leandro, California - Direct TV instulation is the worst

The so called technician that showed up did'nt have a long engough cable...so I had to go to Best Buy and buy the calbe....then upon returning he informs me it's a "custom" instulation and that he can not do it today...my flat screen TV is now sitting on the couch and I have no TV and it takes two people to lift it back up onto the wall mount and my daughter is not strongh enough to help...so here I set no TV and can't even watch a DVD...I am pissed. A call to Direct TV did no good...can reschedule in 72 hours

I agree and am done with Directv. I have been a customer for 18 years and I am just done - calling about their screw ups, getting angry.

They can't seem to get anything right. It's just easier to quit. Period.

Lift the weight. How refreshing!!!

I suggest everyone who has a problem with Direct TV put in a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, that can be our first start. You can do it on line and put in there address. I did mines tonight, if that doesn't work we need to come together and go a little...

Only seven days and I have realized the mistake I made. My wife had to have the home DVR system so we switched.

I still do not have the whole home DVR system and no locals. They said the locals are coming soon. I talked with a freind and he laughed and stated they told him that 4 years ago. The serviceman who installed my system did not have two of the 4 HD systems, so he told me to call them in about a week.

I called today and they told me it would cost $99 plus some fees which added up to a total of $188. Somebody needs to take it to them.

Directv in Pensacola, Florida - Direct- Tv fee scam

I upgraded to a DVR in 10/07, I recently got a better deal with another company after paying such extreme prices with DTV. So when I called to cancel them, they informed me that I signed a 2 year contract and That I was informed about this when I got the DVR. Now if they would have told me this I would have said no, but tha's how they get you. So now they want me to pay them 187.00 on top of my last bill. Well they informed me that they would take the finally fees out of the credit card I have on file, well one problem that card has expired, so it suck to be them uh. I refuse to pay for a fee that i was not informed about. I also called back and requested the contract that I signed, the lady told me it would be 7- 14 days. I only signed a work order. I really think we should get a class action law-suit going, because there full of it.

To Londa, I agree with the class action suit. Direct TV told me they never said I could have a 90 day trial before the disconnect fee was implemented. Class action sounds good to me because this company is ripping people off...

I agree with U 200% a class action law suit is past due if there isn't one out there already. I myself have been had by this company with a misleading pkg deal on top of this no sports channel to watch the local game as stated by representative and promotion go figure.

Directv in Tacna, Arizona - DirectTV - Stealth tactics and robbery

I was a customer of DirectTV for eight years. One day in April 2007, our receiver just did not work. I called in and was told that the signal had been upgraded and my current box was now obsolete. We had to buy a new box, but the rep told me he would refund the cost as a discount on the next bill, which did occur. NOTHING ELSE was discussed whatsoever. Then in June, after I had paid my monthly bill, I called them up and told them I was moving across country and would contact them for reconnect when I got situated. When we arrived, we got a call from Dish Network and saw what they were offering as regular service, and combined with the new sign up incentives, there was no way DirectTV could touch it. Cheaper, more channels, free DVR, etc. So I called DirectTV and told them that I was going to cancel service instead. The rep of course tried to gain me back, but as I said they just could not match the service and perks. So she told me that they would refund me an overpayment of my last bill of approximately $40 (because my payment was for all of June, but I did not have service the entire month due to disconnecting for the move) in a few weeks. Several months go by and I have called twice and was told by both reps that the money was on the way. On the third call I asked to speak to a manager about it. The manager looked at the account and said "Oh! You canceled early! You OWE US money!" and adjusted my account to show a $95 negative balance!!! I explained to her the entire story and she just kept saying "You agreed to a service renewal contract when you signed for the new box when they came to install it" Funny how the new box was mailed to me and *I* installed it. THEN she said "Oh well it is a verbal contract anyway and you are bound by it" They have now sent a credit company after me and are damaging my credit history. After EIGHT YEARS as a loyal customer, THIS is how they repay me - with stealth service renewals, lies, and threats and attacks to my credit rating. I would LOVE to take part in ANY class action suits that may exist now or in the future.

Directv in Chicago, Illinois - Rude and Arrogant treatment of returning customer

I was repeatedly put on hold with long delays. The fact that I was a returning customer was treated as an insult not a triumph as it should have been. I called a supervisor and he was just as rude and arrogant. The only seem interested in NEW customers. I explained that we had been with them for years and then mistakenly changed to disc-tv to try and save a few dollars. Rather then being pleased they went by their written in stone procedures with no thought to how much I had been mistreated or ignored. Since their product is better than Disc-tv I went with it anyway for the sake of my disabled wife. I wish there was a better alternative. DirectTV service is not service at all in my opinion. As with most business's it's cheaper to retain customers than to get new ones. Unfortunately DirectTV has not learned that any better than most other business's.

I was thinking of returning to Direct TV but after the customer service I received, it is not going to happen. The service rep hung up on me so I called back to speak with a Manager.

I told him I was a prior customer for 4yrs and was thinking of returning. I let him know about the rep hanging up on me, and he came back with some story about how they are having network issues. haha ok

After that, I looked for reviews on the Internet and came across this website. I read the horror stories on here, I am glad I left DTV over 3yrs ago. They sound shady and I will pass that on to everyone I know personally.

Seems like they want to nickel and dime you for everything. I read the fine print, 18month to 24 month contract, $5.99 monthly service plan fee, $4.99 each add. receiver , cancelation fee $400 and the list goes on haha.

That is the fine print you have to read, they don't tell you.

I've been with direct tv for several years. And today my service was interrupted. My bill states the 17th as due date and always been told that as long as I pay past due balances by due date then i'm fine. I called and was willing to pay past due this morning. The rep said okay and somehow call was disconnected. I called back and they are now telling me i have to pay bill in full that terms have changed. I spoke with a supervisor and basically said pay it or no cable. I explained the rep this morning did not tell me to pay bill in full just past due and now i'm being told something different. He said I was told wrong and what he is saying is right. I'm done with directtv. I've had too many problems with them over the years especially with billing. RUDE!

Directv in Dearborn, Michigan - Direct TV unauthorized charge to my Checking $355.92

Here's my story, I've been a Direct TV customer for a little over a year and signed a 1 year contract. I was told by one of their representatives that I was already paying for HD tv channels so I should get a reciever since I have an HD tv. So I go to a local Best Buy and grab a new HD reciever, paid around $80.00 for it. (this is a LEASED piece of equiptment that you don't own but you still have to pay for it, and return it or they'll charge you again) They TRIPPLED our monthly bill so we decided that we'd had enough and cancelled our subscription. We were past our subscription so we thought we wouldn't get charged. The next month we find that our checking account was negative over $200.00. When we checked our account we saw that Direct TV charged our checking account $355.92 with out prior authorization. We received no bill or notice about this. We were paying by check each month so it wasn't even an autopay, but after calling and speaking to a manager he stated that when you first sign up for Direct TV you have to give them a credit card or checking account (for billing purposes) for this very reason and we renewed our subscription when we purchased (leased) the new equiptment. He used the scenereo that Cell phone companies give you a discount on their phones when you renew your subscriptions. I told him yeah but you own the equiptment, with Direct TV you have to pay for equiptment you don't own and still have to renew your subscription and return the item you paid for or they'll charge you again. My argument went nowhere and they'll never get any of my business or anyone I know ever again. I'm still filing a dispute through my bank.

All my Directv equipment was free. They always give away free equipment and install.

The monthly charge is what they're after. I think what you got and what you expected to get were two different things.....

I went throught the same thing with Dish Network, but it was 300.00 that was taken from my bank account, and I fought it till I got all of my money back. I will never do business with them again and I do warn everyone I can about Dish Network and how crooked they are!

Directv in Southfield, Michigan - Direct TV - SCAMMERS!!!!

I have been a Direct TV customer for one year, providing my 74-year-old father with Russian television since he cannot speak English and is alone at home practically all day. A few weeks ago, I moved, and called them on FRIDAY to tell them to activate service on MONDAY at my new apartment. And what do you think happens???? NOTHING!! So I call them on Tuesday to ask them what went wrong. And they say that my move has been "cancelled". OK... so anyway, when the technician finally comes, he says the southwest corner of my apartment building is apparently blocked, so the dish can't be installed. At this point, I'm just like "ok whatever, I'm through with Direct TV anyway!!!". But the last straw was when the Direct TV costumer service tells me that I have to pay a cancellation fee of $112!!!!!!!!! And now I'm looking at all of these complaints about Direct TV, and just, OMG!!!!! How are they getting away with all of this? Seriously, some one has to stop these guys.
