Directv in Reston, Virginia - Direct Tv Hires Contract idiots to install
After 3 attempts to get Direct Tv to install HD/DVR to my existing account, I gave up. They kept sending thugs that could hardly speak english to my home up to 4 hours past the agreed upon times. then they said they couldn't do the job because they didn't have the right equipment????? Direct Tv Customer Service was nice but no help. they kept promising and sending out the thugs. These guys looked and acted like they wanted to kill me instead of install a service. As far as I know they were hired directly from prison.Comcast is now getting my business.

Had cable, went to Direct TV so I could get Imus. Several problems with incorrect billing, extra charges, hours of phone calls promising corrections that never happened led me to cancel within a short time. They charged me $490 for canceling! Had service problems right from the start, didn't show up, then called for different instal times, never hooked up locals channel sattelite. When I called got several people who couldn't speak understandable english. Never again, I guarantee. I know several other people who wish they never got sucked in. Beware. Am proceeding to the attorney generals office. I don't want to see anybody else go though this.

I received my new service 2 days ago and today I'm canceling the account and stopping my credit card payment to them. They do not carry a full line of channel line-up and do not disclose that. (Lifetime for Women, for one) Customer service personnel extremely dim. You can't get to a supervisor until you tell the operaters your life story. Every time you call, every person they switch you to, you have to go thru the "who you are, account info. and identification process" and you DO end up being transferred to 3-4 different robots. I refuse to do business with this company regardless of any picture quality, which, by the way, on my very, very high end equipment, is not that much of an improvement over the Time-Warner cable that I'm re-hooking up to. DirecTV is the worst company ever
After being forced to leave my apartment, I had to end my DirecTV contract 2 months early. I called and spoke to them, then was directed to write an email, which I did. Then I got a generic reponse that didn't address my request. I called the original person I spoke to several times, but he never returned my call. I tried again from the beginning and was told that they couldn't do anything to help me over the phone and that I'd have to write a letter. I took the time to write and mail a letter, which I have seldom been angry enough to do. Then they called me at home in the evening to hassle me and interrogate me about the situation. They kept repeating the same things over and over, insisting that I should have somehow anticipated being asked to move out of my apartment. Then they put me on hold again only to come back and refuse to help and address my request. It was unbelievable. These are some of the worst business practices I've ever experienced. What a nightmare!
Unauthorized billing after I had moved & shut down my account - - and a refusal to give direct account information such as, "Please give me a list of charges to my account over the past 3 months" - (those 3 months occurring AFTER I had shut down my account & moved!). NO REFUNDS given, even now after 5 months - - and NO indication that the will be returning my money (over $600) to me. HOURS on the phone, time after time, with No SOLUTIONS. After as many hours on the phone as I have spent, I very strongly suspect that their well-trained telephone personnel is TRAINED to CONFUSE. They count on these tactics, I believe, to deter people from following through and bringing issues to resolution.
Directv in Annapolis, Maryland - I lost 4 days work for DTV installaler; still bad picture
I have lost 4 days work when insatllations and repairs where planned for them to arrive in the afternoon. In most instances they didn't show till after I would have gotten home form work anyway and I waisted a days vacation time. They would show up and climb around on their ladders in the DARK, fiddle with the dish and say they fixed the problem. The third installer said parts where left off in the original insatallation. They still have not solved the problems assocaited with the original installation of HD Dish and I am missing channels from freeze framing and distortion. The HD system and associated equipment was sold to me under bogus information that I would recieve my local channels! That did not happen!I have billed them with written letters but no one replys. My next option is small claims court; which I am currently doing!
DirecTV- overdrafted my bank account
After I cancelled my DirecTV acc. & had been told it would be 21 days before I rec'ved the return box & tracking & billing info for the DVR unit...my bank accnt was overdrafted to the amt of $235.27. When I called they said that was the price of the DVR & since we had not returned the said unit we were now being billed for it. Never mind the conversation when we closed the accnt. about the 21 days & they would sent the box. They wanted their money & were going to get it one way or the other. We called the bank & are now waiting to see if they can reverse the charges & NSF against my accnt. I have no idea where they got my bank accnt number from & find this whole thing very upsetting. I would dissuade anyone else from using DirecTV as they have the worst customer service & refuse to own up when they make a mistake & correct it. Thank you for your time. R.B. & C.P. - N.Texas

I ordered Direct TV on or about 13 Apr 08. Rec'd conformation ltr 16 Apr 08. Rec'd bill on credit card,pd card. Had to re-schecule 2 times. On the 2nd time the installer didn't receive the re-schedule and showed up at my home.Called my phone and said I would have to call and re-schedule. So I did,only to find out he had cancelled my order!.So I started all over again with a new account # & new workorder #.Scheduled appt for 7 May 08, between 8am-12:00pm.At 1:00pm I called and I feel the tech changed my appt date on the computer.I was informed my appt was 14 May 08. By Terrance so when I asked to speak to a supervisior he Terrance hung up on me. I work on that week,so I know it was changed. I will not give my service or money to Direct TV Co. I canx my order..
Directv in Austin, Texas - Direct tv debited 623 dollars from senior citizens account before any notice
Mar. 17 dtv shut the service off. The billing date was the 22nd. We paid by electronic check the required lost payment at that time. We lowered the package to 29.00 amonth for the next month but never got to pay. Direct tv had shut off. They then demanded the broken contract fees. of $347.47 cents but took $623.00. Ionly owed $96.00 at this time.We feel we don't owe for their mistakes.We tried to resolve these issues but spent fruitless hours of phone calls. Our bank is now disputing th e double charges and we are out the money unless we prove them wrong
Directv in North Augusta, South Carolina - Direct TV "Professional" Installation
Direct TV installation was scheduled for May 4 at 8 am. Technician showed up on time. After discussing dish location, the technician started complaining that my house was difficult. He proceded to mount the dish and run cables with very little attempt to conceal them. The worst is how they ran them up the side of the house after promising they would hide them under vinyl siding. He tracked mud on to my carpet in two locations, left a pile of sheetrock dust in one. The signal to one receiver failed due to loose connections within an hour. Calls to the customer service number took forever with long periods of being on hold. One person asked if the work was under warrenty. Since it was hours old I would hope so. Direct offers 200 channels. 50 are in spanish and may are HD duplicates. Finally everything is extra. As mentioned by others it is a bait and switch and then don't deliver company.
