Poor Customer Service from Directv

I have now spent over 3 hours on the phone with Directv customer service reps trying to find out what alternatives I have for a replacement DVR for an existing one that has died, and I couldn't get a straight answer from any of them and when I asked to speak to one of their technicians who know how their DVRs work and how to connect them to my TV, I was actually told that they don't provide that kind of support over the phone. Directv used to have excellent service; but since it was acquired by AT&T what they provide is no customer service at all (which I guess from my prior experience with AT&T should not have been a surprise). Anyway, I guess I have no choice but to switch back to cable (as much as I hate cable).

Channel 820 - dissatisfied

I am really dissatisfied with what has been done to channel 820 - the beautiful 'elevator' instrumental music is truly 85% of the reason we chose DirecTV, but as of July 1, you have changed the selection of music and made the channel very unsatisfactory and we are looking for another channel to listen to, beyond that we will change to another provided once we find the music channel. Very, very disappointing. You had a perfectly good channel, playing very nice quality movie and stage themes that were soothing and nice to listen too, why in the world did you change it, makes no sense and is just disappointing.

The technical support sucks they kept telling me it was the remote and wanted to charge me for a new one. After getting off the phone with them I did some reading to find out there is a reset button on the box and guess what I fixed the problem

Customer Service????

I called this morning for new service, I spoke to a nice girl, picked a package for my 5 TV's and movie channels. NEVER did she mention I had to make a new AT&T purchase until I received an email confirmation. When I called to get clarification on it, they told me yes I had to purchase a new AT&T purchase in order to receive the pricing the sales rep gave me. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was disconnected. I called back, and again was transferred 3 times. Very disappointed in this company. I requested the names of the people who I spoke to the first and second time, and no one was able to get me that and put me back to the main menu AGAIN.

Horrible Internet Service

I was assured that 6.O Mbps would be available from customer service so I cancelled my existing service and went with Direct TV Cable and Internet. WHAT A MISTAKE. Every time there is a light sprinkle of rain or wind, the cable would go out and the service tech that came out to install my internet could only give me 3.0 Mbps which is slower than DSL. WHAT A JOKE. I had to go with COMCAST Internet and ended up paying more money then if I had stayed with COMCAST. Direct TV continued to raise my rates and then give me 6 months specials to try to hold my rate. AGAIN WHAT A JOKE!!! COMCAST is seriously the best way to go. They have made huge improvements to their customer service and user friendly platform. Much better than DirectTV.

Same with me. They told me that I would save if I switched over and bundled and after 4 months of being on the phone with them every month because they were charging me separately for everything and bill being over 250.00. They told me they were not able to bundle my services because of the area I live in because AT&T does not service my area. So I was left with paying 110.00 just for the cable and the Internet and phone services had to go with another company. I had to explain this to them every month when I called I. To pay my bill because they would ask me if I want to bundle my services with them and save. My contract is up in January and I am not sure if I can stay with them any longer. I even spoke with a supervisor and she ran down the script for cancelling services instead of trying to keep a customer. Very poor customer service and a waste of money. I would not refer them to anyone and as a matter of fact I to my mom and my brothers to get rid of them also because of the hassle and I referred them to a different company.

I just got about the same bull-***, then they say to me, if i get the warranty for $7.99 a month i wont be charged for the TECH Guy to fix it!

I told him i'm not paying to get THEIR EQUIPMENT fixed!

They need to pick up their equipment before i throw it off from my balcony into the street!

Report them to the FDC (Federal Trade Commission) There had been countless complaints against DirecTV. They are greedy liars. They started taking whatever the heck they wanted out of our checking account. We were never told that their prices increased. We were originally paying $126/Mo but then took out $184 the month after we had DirecTV. We were never notified about a rate increase. We took them off of auto pay because they agreed to only charge us $126 for the second year but that only lasted two months then they would take whatever they wanted. DirecTV can not be trusted. What they are doing is illegal. They have been in trouble with the FDC several times. Please call FDC-DIRECTV and report. Most customers need a refund. I am going to report the greedy JERKS. Do not pay them $300. They are obviously doing a bait and switch which is also illegal. Good luck!

Direct tv has more infomercials than programs. We pay enormous monthly payments only to be flooded with companies selling everything understand why we have to put up with this. The sales are 24/7. You don't give us a choice when it comes to them. If you did, I would do away with them all. Quit being so greedy and give programs that people want. Been with DTV 16 years and it just gets worse. I have been a DirecTV customer for over 20 years. Now in a new house and no line of sight. Still want to stream NFL Package but just spent 27 minutes, 42 seconds on phone, three different people with final transfer going to a recording that said call couldn't be completed and to hang up and call the 800 number again. The staff are very polite and try to help but nobody can answer questions, you have to be transferred again and again and then you either end up being hung up on or not getting the issue resolved. My question isn't difficult; I've been a customer for years and paid my bill on time for years; I would still be a customer if the DirecTV equipment worked at my house. Just allow me to get set up so I can stream NFL Sunday Ticket. This group is so far behind technologically it is sad.

The search for most popular programs no longer functions. On numerous occasions if you search for a program Direct will lead you to the pay to watch channel rather than the channel you have already paid for . Makes it difficult to get to what you paid for . The slightest slip of the controller and you are sent to the pay for view channel when it was on a hidden channel you have purchased as part of the package. This is not by accident. There's no reason for them not to default to what you paid for. Furthermore they make it very difficult to find the already paid for channel in the search process. They have also snuck in charges ....... Am just about to call comcast and lower my cost by 50%

I got the bundle package with at&t. Stay on phone with both company a good 1 hr to get it set up. They couldn t bundle it til it was install. Call same day told it a go. No bill for 2 month. Call to check told amount not what was quotevwhen set up. Ask tovspeack to some one whe i call back told plan was no longer a option. Ask for manager. Hot transfer 12 time to find out plan could be bundle so bill would be 50 not 40. I was told 12 month plan got told it was another lie 24 month. Told other have been given wrong info an it did not matter . I would have to pay 400. To get put of their plan. They take responsible for nothing an its just the customer lost (who does not count) just the money they can they can get oh thisnis legal in louisiana or no one in the state care

I have been trying to chat and call customer service with Direct TV for the past 2 hours! Customer Service has purposely put me on hold and then disconnected me twice today - after being on the phone at least 30 minutes + each phone call! No one can help me!!! I pay for a protection plan on my equipment and can't even get a technician to come look at it when I have a problem! What am I paying for! I DREAD having to call in for ANYTHING! This is such a poor example of customer service. You might as well be talking to a ROBOT.
