Directv in Newport News, Virginia - TV Out on Thursday...sending a tech out on Monday

I have been a loyal Directv customer since the day they became a company. I have put up with terrible equipment and rising prices since then only because they are the only company that offers Sunday Ticket. Sunday I reluctantly upgraded my equipment, as I don't like having a 2 year commitment to any company. Last night, Thursday and only 5 days after the upgrade, my signal went out with a error 775 message. Before calling I followed the steps in troubleshooting. Nothing happened so I called technical support. What a joke! The person on the phone simply read the trouble shooting steps, all 2 of them. Long story short, after an hour and a half of holding and being passed along, I was told that the earliest time for a tech visit would be 4 days later on Monday. They offered to pro-rate my bill for the 4 days...what???? I finally pulled the plug on this worthless arrogant bunch. Of course now they expect me to pay an early termination fee after nearly 20 years of being a customer. STAY AWAY FROM THEM...THEY HAVE BECOME A RIPOFF COMPANY!

rule of thump: if you have a technical problem after installation, call and request service call for it under warranty of service, wont pay for it but keep in mind it will be done at earliest convenience of technical dept in your area.

--if you have more technical questions such as share tv files or softwares, make sure you can find articles on their website with pictures and videos.

-if you disc your acct without asking for technical service, troubleshooting the problem or if you have 0% tv since day one, then your claim is valid, other way, you will fall under the typical person whining for everything and refusing to pay for his service.

Since AT&T took over it has gotten significantly worse. Periodically the screen breaks up when there is no bad weather condition. More importantly the promotional credits once distributed liberally each month by customer service to reward loyal customers and bring down the exponentially rising bills has now disappeared. It's all about AT&T making a profit. Maybe years ago there weren't too many choices. Now there is cable, internet, DISH, Netflix and many other options that don't require DirecTV's dish and exorbitant prices. Hopefully, the powers that be in the white towers will come to realize before it's too late that without the customer there is no business.

I called to make a request to cancel the three-month free extra pack. The first representative I talked to couldn't understand what I wanted. The next representative said he would take care of it and promised to send me confirmation. I have not received confirmation. When my service was installed a year ago I had receivers installed in 3 rooms. We only had televisions in 2 rooms so the technician said he would test the installation in the 3rd room to make sure everything was good. 3 months ago (10 months later) we set-up a TV in the 3rd room and the system didn't work. I called and a technician came and he discovered that the cable in the attic was connected to the wrong line. While he was working on the problem, I was the phone with customer service who wanted to make sure everything was fixed. At the end of the call she offered to credit me for the 10 months of service to that room since it never worked. About $70.00. After 3 months, I see no credit. Yesterday I called to find out about the credit and the customer service representative told me she could only give me credit for the three months since the service. I challenged this and she transferred me to her supervisor. Her supervisor said she could only give me credit from the time of complaint because is was supposed to verify the service worked at time of installation. She changed the credit again to cover time of complaint to the time of repair - 3 days, about $1.40! So I paid $70.00 for a service that didn't work and was told a different story by three different customer service representatives.

I switched over to direct tv in September 2015. They quoted me a price for basic tv and the internet. I went with them. To date they have been billing me incorrectly and charging me for tv and internet use. I have called several times to get my bill resolved and all on one bill as they promised when they merged with AT&T. They took a $100 dollar deposit....and charged me $60 for the internet and another $35 for tv. They started billing me odd amounts. My most current charges from ATT were $173. They have never combined my bill and are charging me for something i dont know of. Tired of wasting my time.

I just spent an hour on the phone with a direct tv agent. It did take 3 calls to get one as the first 2 attempts the "fake person" kept transferring me and then disconnecting me. Not a great start. I am a ATT cell phone user and had received a promotion to combine the two companies. The promotion states 19.99/mth for one year with a two year contract, however, no mention of the costs commitment for the second year. After a very long call with the agent, and a credit score check which felt like discrimination although my score is great. Finally the second year went to approx. $49.99/mth while locking me into direct tv and att (which I do not have a contract with) so if I switch cell carriers, it would go up another $10/mth. So after that long hour, I did not choose Direct Tv. If the literature was direct and customer service promptly answered that would be different, and of course not an increase of well over 100 percent for the second year just did not work for me.

I have been a customer of direct tv when it was owned by prime star. And it is to the point i am sick of the same old shows every week and then the show the same thing on other channels. for the price i am paying which is 120 dollars a month, i get sick of the shows that are also 30 years old and then they play those every other week. it's a shame that they have the right to put what they want on these channels regardless what the consumer wants..It's a shame that the people have spent over thousands and thousands of dollars to flip through channels every night just to watch the same shows over and over.*** wouldn't it be nice if everyone would cancel direct tv all at the same time or some how boycott there *** over this..you would think that us the customers could sue direct tv, for something about not getting the service that we paid for, instead they are using reruns for there programming instead of keeping programs up to date. Boy i think i might find out if it's illegal or not..They could be getting a class action suit against them..
