Directv RIPOFF

We upgraded our equipment late in December 2011. We called shortly after Christmas to cancel our account due to problems many other Americans are facing. We cannot cancel without being charged of $400.00!!! This is outrageous to say the least! We have paid for Directv for years and now that we can't afford it, we're being punished. We would like to have the fee waived and the service canceled. The best we can get with Customer Service is to have the account in suspension for 6 months and then have to pay either for monthly service or the cancellation fee. Either is not acceptable to me. You are much better off if you use a credit card because the cc have to accept your dispute whereas the banks sometimes does not.If they do return the money to your account(if they have charged you)bear in mind that it can also be placed back on your credit card pending the outcome of the cc's investigation.I'd certainly change the account DTV has on file for you either the # or a new account before you cancel service.

I had DTV for 5 months of pure ***,I cancelled, they charged my cc over $800 for early cancellation and nonret equipment but I fought them and won.I filed complaints with BBB,FTC & Attorney General in California where DTV is located.I also filed a complaint against my credit card for allowing the charges to go through after telleng me they would not allow these charges.the BBB helped me with the cc complaint,my money was returned and I closed the CC account. As Mom stated the cable co has a good deal call ask for their "Buy Back Program" I did this too and got 3 free months service plus I got my money back from DTV.

By your replacing the equipment this has renewed your contract with DTV for 2 yrs. I would Have them put the account into suspension and then call your bank or credit card or bank and change the numbers or close the account and get a new one (do not give DTV the new #)DTV will turn you over to collections after this time but you will have 6 months to figure out what to do.Your credit report will take a hit but you can also file a rebuttal on your report.

If you have any credit card info or debit card info on file with them, call the bank and cancel them! They took over $500 from my debit card last month without my permission! I am still waiting to hear the outcome of the dispute with the bank about this.

Call your cable company for a deal. Did you ever have cable? They will offer to pay the 400 for your service.

Directv box slow

i have been subscribed to directv since 2002, and i have had relatively few problems with it. about a year ago, i got a DVR. the dvr box was fast, at first, but it was slowing down progressively. i deleted recording after recording, but it was still slow. last month, i called directv about it. i was on hold for about a half-hour before some foreign guy answered, i took me another 25 minutes for me to explain my problems to him. (while he was constantly interrupting me.) the directv man came about a week later, handed me the box, and walked off. i spent all weekend figuring out the new box and installing it. I'm taking my business elsewhere if this happens again.

sounds like your system may not be grounded, which is not to far of a stretch seeing how 99% of installs are incorrect. Not being grounded can cause static build up in the box.

DirecTV poor customer service/installers

A directv installer driving one of their marked vans was driving erratically not liking me going the posted speed limit in a residential area. He then made the decision to speed around me in a double line lane, 20 mi/hr school zone, with children present; proceeded to then weave in and out of traffic. When i called the 877 number on the back of the van it was for inquiries on service. I called the customer service number and the rep I spoke with (Lindsey) was horrified and concerned. I was then transferred to the install customer service rep (Jamie) who seemed to care less seeing that they are contracted out; I don't even think she wrote down the information I gave her on the vehicle. DISSAPOINTING

My Son's death!

I have spoken on two different occasions to a direct TV representative. I have written two letters asking that my account be closed because of my son's suicide. I left my home in November and I'm in an apartment where they do not allow dishes. Direct TV still wants to charge me an early disconnection fee of $400.00. I am now unemployed and just trying to get myself together. I was not dis-satisfied with the service, I need to cancel because of circumstances beyond my control. When do you give a little compassion and bend your rules?

If the contract/subscription is not in your name then there is nothing they can do. As long as your name is not associated with them, then you are not responsible.

If the above is the case then tell them to sue you.

They know they will lose. They are trying to scare you into paying.

Directtv best experience yeah right

My husband in AND OUT OF THE hospital 2 weeks VERY ILL ALL HE wants WHEN HE GETS HOME IS cable I set it up. Directtv calls he tells them to please talk to me as he is ill. Mine you I set everything up and some snot nose imbecile named David sends my account to the fraud department so nobody can help me but him. SPOUSE UNABLE TO ANSWER HIS QUESTIONS DAVID STRESS ME OUT MORE. I am traumatized as it is with my husband recovery and the last THING I need is to be stressed out about cable. Sooo I said just cancel the entire order to include internet and some other *** tells me I cannot cancel service that I do not even have YET. Somebody tell me how this is suppose to be the "best experience". Life is hard enough. It is cable people. VP RIGHT JUST LIKE ALWAYS YOU DO NOT GIVE A RIP AND NOTHING IS GOING TO GET DONE OR CHANGE. Comcast is looking better even if it cost more. YOU CAN GO YOU KNOW WHERE IS THAT DIRECT ENOUGH FOR YOU.

If I didn't know better I think you work for Direct TV. :?

If u received receivers from DirecTV and wanted to cancel without returning the receivers then that would be why u were sent to their fraud dept. At anytime you can ask to speak to their Supervisor if u were not treated with respect.

I've only received courteous professional service.

How you talk to someone often affects how your requests are handled. Try being nice and I bet u can get ANYTHING done.

Century link employees lie to customers in az.

Century link and Direct tv employ a process of billing, whch is misleading to consumers....each entity played me like a tennis ball........Their management refused to give an agreed upon credit dating back to November '30th '011......As of this writing, I plan to discontinue my service with both companies.....I've been a customer of qwest-century link for 23 yrs.......The employees I spoke with today refused to identify who they are by name, agreeing only to use initials.........My current intent is to file complaints with the 'Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Az. Corp. Commission for the purpose of assisting the Senior Citizens of Az. to avoid additional scavenging by out of state non Az. public companies.......Anyone who cares to legally rid Arizona of corrupt practices, by out of state co's kindly add to their experiences with either of these communication cos. who have invaded our air space, and our life style...Thank You for taking the initiative, and join in with your experiences....

DirectTV - Death certificate on NON-ACCT HOLDER

DirectTV shut off service to 2 tv's and left one on, after "someone" sent them a copy of a death certificate on someone ELSE that died 4 months PRIOR to my step-mother, who was NEVER an account holder for DIRECTTV. They said it was the account holder (my dad), but would never read the name on the death certificate to me. The CR tried to deny it and said I misunderstood. After pressing her she said they did have a copy of a death certificate! Who is TROLLING for death certificates and giving them to DirectTV? They said today to send email thru their site, but that thing acts like it never send any msg. Tried at least 5 times.

Installed a dish and cable on my rental house

My renter contacted Direct TV and ordered their service. They installed a dish on the new roof and ran cable down two sides of the building and attached it to the new siding I had just installed. The renter had no authorization to do this and neither did Direct TV. Trying to contact a person to talk to at Direct TV is impossible. I have emailed to no avail. I have called every number and do nothing but get the run around. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the person turned me over to someone else. After asking if she was a supervisor she said no. I hung up.

Got ripped off by Satellite Direct Advance!

I totally got ripped off by these people! I can watch whatever shows on Hulu Plus for 7.99 don't need to pay them another $8 a month for a toolbar to go through, which is all you seem to get from Satellite Direct Advance. Then when I was totally broke so the auto pay didn't go through, they shut off service. Ok, that's fair, but then they have continued to bill me for the past 2 months but I haven't gone back and restarted it! And I'm not getting service from them. Rip Off!

Watch your bank account or credit card if they have one on file. They will charge a huge amount for early termination fees as well as non returned equipment fees if they possibly can. Get tracking # if sending back equipment

Over charging a customer

I am a customer with Direct TV in Baltimore Maryland and you set up service for me at one location and after a month at that location I had to move so I called and cancelled service at the last location and called for service to be set up at the location I had moved too.Unfortunately the technician couldn't give me service at the new location do to the satellite location. So what did your company do kept taking money out of my bank account for a whole year until I realized what was going on an had it stopped. How can a company like yours do this to a customer you have documentation of the tech coming out to the new location and couldn't give me service WHY STILL CHARGE ME YOU KNOW i DONT HAVE SERVICE. That's like stealing and should be against the law you owe me all my money back from the date your tech reports I couldn't get service. My name is Paul Harden the address you kept taking money for 2025 Englewood Ave.Account#323****, the address you couldn't give me service was 26 Brookebury Drive my address now is 7206 Chippenham Place Apt 301 Baltimore Md.21244 Phone Number 443-418-****.

You can only help them by dropping your service. You signed the contract for 2 years and they will get their money from you. The only difference, is you won't be watching any TV while you pay for it, LOL.

Guest

YOU WILL FACE THE WORSE BACK LASH IN CONSUMER HISTORY. I too will drop you so quick ( despite the fact I just signed a new two year contract)if the Super Bowl is not televised. I believe you have already done irreversible damage to your business and have until this Sunday to keep the ship afloat in New England.

DIRECT TV

I switched to DIRECT TV and have never contacted them for customer service until today. All I wanted was to give them more money and order a movie. I got the order squared away but it did not become available as paid for... finally found customer service and within 15 seconds of my phone call - a rep said shut the *** to a good, long time customer who tried to order and access a movie for the 1st time? Brand Promises Brand Promises...sell sell sell and promise customer service but no one is doing anything. SAY NO TO DIRECT TV.

DirecTV: avoid WHOLE HOME DVR SERVICE

I called DirecTv to order On Demand and ended up getting the Whole home HD-DVR system as well, what a mistake. First off I had 3 DVR's that could record 6 shows at one time and each had it's own hard drive on it, now I have 1 DVR that is connected to the other 2. That means I can record 2 shows at one time and have only one hard drive. WTF...who would switch to that? If I wanted to be able to watch the same the show in other rooms I could record it in those rooms as well. I also lost the ability to pause/rewind (THIS IS HUGE) live TV in the other 2 rooms and if my main TV is recording 2 shows I'm stuck watching one of them or I have to go to another room because you can't change channel. next month DirecTv will let you upgrade to Black and White TV!!!
