I purchased the NFL Sunday Ticket, which is in the hundreds of dollars. The first Sunday rolls around and my service goes down.

It finally comes back on during the fourth quarter after I call and complain im told we can't gives refunds on the Sunday ticket. All i wanted was one day of the charge refunded but even a supervisor tells me no. 2nd and third week go by fine then the fourth week is the same thing and no one can help me. Its just too bad I missed week four and no refund of any sort.

So I called and cancealed my entire service and eventhough I didn't watch the final weeks Direct TV keeps sending me collection bills nearly 2 years later. WORTHLESS COMPANY NEVER USE THEM!

Direct tv

a month ago my husband and I signed up for basic tv because that is what we have - we are in our 60's. For Christmas our children bought us a flat screen HDTV - we need hd hook up - direct tv wants an additional $280 to the $178 we already payed last month, or $480 to cancel our contract! They said we should have signed up for it a month ago - WE DIDN"T HAVE HD THEN!!! OMG - money making company - DO NOT GO WITH DIRECT TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son spent an hour on the phone going from supervisor to supervisor with all saying we should have signed up for it when we ordered it. OMG - how were we suppose to know we were getting a HDTV from our children for Christmas?

i tried to do the same thing, tyey told me it would extend my agreement for two years, no thanks, aint no better then the others

I agree that sounds very expensive just to hook up a HD tv to a DVR box. Ask if DTV will send you a DVR box and if so get an HDMI cable($7-20) depending on the length you need at Walmart.and hook it up yourself. go to ehow and type in "how to hook up an HD t.v" it is fairly simple to do.

Guest

That's the normal upgrade price. You are trying to upgrade to extra programming.

You do NOT NEED the hd hookup, you WANT the hd hookup. As I guarantee that your new tv works just fine with the regular non-hd programming.

Stop trying to get everything for free.

Direct TV 6 YRS LATER???

We recently returned our sim cards when we changed satelitte companies. 6 yrs later they are saying we ordered adult movies and ufc fights in 2006???! First we are NOT adult movie people. Second we are way too cheap to order a $40 ufc fight when we can go to a friends and watch for free. When we explained we didnt order these the guy argued with us and sad too bad just pay it. If we could have ordered the movies wouldn't we have continued to order movies not just in a six month period? DONT USE DIRECT TV!!!!

Deceptive Information By DirectTV personnel

I had a a ending balance of 135.55 for the month of December and I was going to pay the ending balance on 12-28-2011 but a Directtv representative advised I could wait until 01-6-2012 (pay day) and pay and suspend my account on this day without penalties. But when I went to go pay my account they insisted I pay 270.00 before they would suspend my account ! Now they say OK we will suspend your account and you can pay the 135.55 but we will take you to collections for the rest !! This is garbage the representative I spoke to on 12-28 should have told my bill would at least double and it would be wiser to pay it on 12-28-11. I am going up the food chain and keep complaining. Now on hold and no return phone calls. GREAT SERVICE NOT

PO'd Direct TV Customer

Signed a 2-year contract via Costco for Directv. At first, major problems w/installation. But with Costsco's well-deserved reputation for integrity, Directv made things right. Now, coming up on second year, and there is a price increase. OK; was anticipated. Also, since needs have changed, want to change packages. Spent 1.5 hours on the phone being passed around, given conflicting information about what they would involve and what it would cost, to be ultimately handed of to an exceeedingly rude individual with a Russian accent, who was the personification of arrogance. Would not investigate the fact that am still entitled to a second-year, but smaller rebate. Guess he figures it's my job to ensure customer satisfaction. Needless to say, I am furious. Have already spoken to 6 individuals, only to end up with absolutely no satisfaction. Management has largely rendered its Customer Service department impotent, in that it has little or no power to make things right. Add to that, an arrogant respresentative and its a sure-fire recipe for one customer who is now counting the days 'til she can dump Directv and switch to another provider. These recent experiences w/Directv have only shown that they have NO interest whatsoever in customer satisfaction or retention. Shame on them. I am through fightng this battle; however, I will be making it known to Costco loud and clear. They GENUINELY care about customer satisfaction, in that they walk the walk; not just talk the talk as I've ufortunately found others to do. My advice: no matter how good the deal sounds, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT sign a 2-year contract w/Directv. It isn't worth the aggravation--or the money!!!

DIRECT TV False Promises

If you don't know of their special deals you will pay higher prices - even as a customer. I called about upgrade of receiver and told the price was $99 but upon questioning them, I was told"since you asked I can drop the price to $$49. NOw as a customer they were willing to give me the shaft. On a previous occasion I calle dto change my programing and the sales person added a free sports program without my knowledge and then after the three months I saw a charge of $13. I didn't know about the program and never used it. Watch you back with DIRECT TV you will get shafted .

DIRECTV IS VERY SLOPPY.THEIR INSTALLER'S SCRATCHED UP MY FURNITURE. WHEN I TELEPHONED DIRECTV TO COMPLAIN I WAS TOLD TO WRITE A LETTER.AND TAKE A PICTURE.I CANNOT STAND DIRECTV.*** FOOL'S.BUT I FOUND AWAY TO GET THEY BACK.

Guest

I just want to know why new customers are getting better rates than the customers that have been with them for many years.

Guest

Thousands and thousands of people have filed complaints but DTV has a way of paying their way out of things even class action law suits. There are no special deals with DTV,these are just gimmics used to get new customers.Keep in mind any upgrade or replacing equipment for any reason automatically renews your contract for another 2 yrs.

I think everyone should file a complaint with their State Attorney General and then maybe this company will be forced to clean up their act! They sound terrible!

Took money from my account with knowledge

directtv took a large amount of money from my account without my permission or knowledge until i checked my bank statement. this is after many complaints and questions about my account with them. they never corrected or changed anything. finally in utter frustration i stopped paying my bill. they demanded the return of their equipment, which was returned, but they took the cost of the equipment from my account.now i am thoroughly pissed off. i believe my money should be returned but here is no chance of that since service had been disconnected . no company should be allowed to directly withdraw money from your account without permission or knowledge!!!

DirecTV doesn't deliver and won't let you quit. Help.

We have had DirecTV for 1&1/2 horrible years of losing the picture due to rain, wind, planes and ??? Tonight, after I turned off the TV, took a shower and came back, the picture was once again snow. (BTW, we had 3 DVRs changed out in the first 2 months, plus at least 6 technicians who tried to make DirecTV work, and it has been better, but it has never been great. It still skips and they can't seem to fix that so we live with it.) Tonight I tried all of the reboot routine myself (check both remotes, be sure the channels are correct, unplug the DVR, wait, replug it, hit the reset button, unplug the TV, try the input buttons. . .) I then called DTV & went through the entire reboot routine again. After nothing worked, I was told no help is available for a WEEK. It's the Saturday before Thanksgiving, so NO holiday TV movies or football! I said that was totally unacceptable, and got an apology. I have asked before, when we first had so much troule, if I could just get out of the contract, but NO. To cancel before 9/12 means a huge penalty. I am so angry I worry about my health. I feel helpless because this heartless, inept, poor excuse for a service company can't fix anything and will not let me just cancel and get back my cable, which WORKED! (I switched to save money--what a joke--they keep raising the rates every few months, so they are liars and *** artists as well as being a very bad company.) Anybody thinking of switching to DirecTV? DON'T DO IT!!! Use rabbit ears--build your own dish out of tin foil, but do NOT contract with this underhanded bunch of theives!

Thanks, larry the cable guy--You sound as though you know what you're doing. We have had the stability checked and I was told it was good (who knows?) Different techs have gone over & over the cables, and I've been told that the DTV cable wire is just so much more sensitive than what they use for "Cable TV," and that if it's even touching a nail up in the attic, it could short out the system, so one tech went up there and corrected a few issues and it HAS been better, as I said, but it isn't wonderful due to fairly frequent skips, blips or a second of a frozen picture now & then. I'm told it's as good as it gets. (From having DirecTV in Minnesota, I know it's NOT as good as it can be. Apparently in MN, they actually TRAIN the techs--what a concept.) No, we don't even have HD--we have one ratty DVR that can't even find shows with the stars' names, but I now have to get some kind of insurance to cover any damage to that thing. (My TiVo, which never failed me, lies under the master bedroom TV, unhooked and unused.) The big screen in the family room receives the only digital signal in the house--the other 3 TVs are analog and they don't go out.

UPDATE: We went for a week, over Thanksgiving, with NO TV, and then the Friday after Thanksgiving, the tech showed up, pushed a couple of buttons on the remote and the TV was fine. He said, "those guys you call at the home office don't know a thing about this system--they only read what's on their cards and if that doesn't work, they have no other way to help you. SORRY!" Then we got a bill for $89 for his rocket science solution to our unsolvable problem.

I HATE DIRECTV! I think I should stake the sales guys at Sam's Club, where I got railroaded into this, and tell everyone to JUST SAY NO.

Like I said before, send your dog outside with a tinfoil hat before you think DirecTV will be better than that.

Obviously you have a bad install. The unfortunately for you,as im sure you have already figured out, more then 98% of any tech that comes to your house is a complete ***.Know what it takes to become a tech? A 3 day course that they give you all the answers right before they give you the test. And if it wasnt like going into a room full of monkeys flinging poo, that course could only take a day.So you either keep taking your chance on techs or do a little homework and the next time a tech comes dont settle for what they say, make them do what you want.Sounds like you have more then just a problem.do you have HD?Does your dish have the correct stability? It should have 6 lag bolts in the "foot" and 2 each in both stabilizing bars. One of which should be directly under the dish, and one behind.satellites orbit more then 22,000 ft above earth,so that dish moving as little as 1/8 inch is hundred of miles by the time it reaches out that 22,000 miles. Is your coax wire RG6 75ohm swept tested to 3ghz?VERY impotant!I really could go on and on>thats a start and in most cases the main issues.Private guys and electricians for that matter are the same as directv techs, contractors just want your money and electricans the same on top of not knowing *** .All wire IS NOT the same . Good luck!

I think you're right--like most unethical businesses, they think they can get away with anything and have to get a letter from an attorney before they even talk to you. I'm not surprised that there are so many complaints about DTV because they have caused me a year of stress.

I just want out. Thanks for the suggestion!

John N Mzy

There must be a way to send them a certified letter demanding they live up to their contract and if they don't, then you consider the contract null and void. Any attorney out there with experience in this area? This would be good to know, as I see alot of complaints about Direct TV and others.

DIrectV NOT!!

Directv is getting worse and worse,They would not allow me to change the date my bill was debited from my bank. I asked to have it changed from the 29th to the 1st. When I cancelled my automatic draft they started billing me $10 a month for HDTV. No one explained to me that if I set up a check draft I could choose the date I wanted the bill drafted, anyway, later I tried to set up a check draft to get the benefit of the $10 savings and they said I have been Permanently removed from that offer.

Direct TV Ads

I cannot stand the commercial for Direct TV! The weird boy is more than we can watch. We change channels or mute it!!! Why do companies feel they have to have ads showing children as psycho's? Where are the American values of happy homes and families? We enjoy Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but unfortunately we have had to endure endless Direct TV ads during this time period. Please come up with some ad that is better and does not promote psycho behavior. We know you can do it!!! Just find a better company to do your advertising, please!

Direct TV

Direct TV is the worst company I have ever worked with!!! I was forced to connect with them when I moved into my new apartment and it took me 3 days to cancel!! Their people are rude, not willing to help, and disrespectful! I have had nothing but issues. They charged me 500 dollars to cancel-- then when they didnt charge my account they turned me in to collections. Their customer service folks called me and then hung up on me, then when i called the corportate office they shrugged it off like it was my fault--what happened to the customer is always right. I will go with out any type of TV before I would ever become a customer of theirs!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what they do, I have experienced the same with them, they simply are unresponsive.

I hope the majors are reading this, I rather like not having the TV.

To me they gave me a service, I did not want, did not need, never used, and then while it was "free" I could never get thru to the company as the lines were jammed.

The vendor or retailer on this account Big Dog Satellite knows this ans always calls Directv thru a backdoor line for retailers. Big DOg should be forced to use the same lines as consumers.

DirecTV also on my basic rate raised it after 4 months to $65 instead of $34.

Then they demand you to pay it, then they refuse to even discuss it until you pay it, saying they will credit you later... lies lies

DO NOTHING WITH THESE PEOPLE THAT IS NOT IN WRITING.

Direct TV Fraudulent Charges

It all began when i purchased direct TV, the receiver they gave me was defective 1 day after beginning service, so the sent me a new one and the nightmare began. We sent back the defective receiver 2 days after receiving the new one. The automatically debited my account for 160 bucks over drawing my bank account for not returning the receiver 1 month after i sent it to them. One month later after many calls they finally found the receiver, but still wouldn't return the money to my account, telling me they were set up to only take money out not put it in. The manager told me to dispute the charges which i already did anyway. I asked to be put on regular billing and off auto pay, which they did, the next billing there was a 10 dollar charge for hd. They told me when taken off of auto pay u have to pay an extra 10 dollars now for hd, they only told me this AFTER i was billed, so i asked to go back on auto pay. They re answer was once off of auto pay you cant be put back on it . So now instead of the 35 a month I signed up for i was being charged 45. They then offered me 3 premium movie channels for free for 3 months so i got those. At the end of the 3 months i called and cancelled them< they told me i could purchase them again there was a special buy one get one premium channel for free so i did. The next bill i was charged full price theyre explanation was i had to pay full price untill my billing period ended. Half way through the month they disconnected me with no warning for putting a stop payment on the 160 they should have never charged me for. I called and talked to a manager he told me i owed them an outragous amount of money that i pay it or no tv. I told him i had called direct tv every month and paid the exact amount they told me to pay. He told me that didnt matter That I pay the new amount or no tv. So i told him im cancelling my account he told me i will be billed for all the fraudulent charges and the two year agreement or they will ruin my credit.
