Directv in Knoxville, Tennessee - Direct TV STAFF do not have the ability or skill to resolve issues

I recently got a divorce. My ex moved out of our home. We had ATT/Direct TV bundled (NEVER do this!) The direct TV was in my ex's name and ATT. I offered to just switch over the account to my name...this effort started in March. ATT switched to my name for Internet service (good that someone there had that skill level)...Direct TV was unable to understand or switch over...and this was after several exhausting calls and transfers and I don't know what's happening that both I did, my ex did, and we even both together called them. I then get a text that the account is past due--never heard from Direct TV before--no statement. I call..two hours later (lol)--I now can't cancel this nightmare because I am not authorized..and insult to the wound..they even added NFL package and I don't even watch football! I was told I am not responsible for the bill--they have no one at Direct TV that I could talk to--no other resources..nothing can be done..I am honestly trying to make efforts to resolve the past due bill and close the account as this is a nightmare I don't wish on anyone. I usually don't post things like this--but I really think the public needs to know so this won't happen to them. If you are considering Direct TV...and ever need assistance or resolve an issue--be prepared to be very frustrated. I am now having to seek legal advice so that they do not harass me or impact my credit score. A big mess..and a very poorly ran business...

they will probably apply some charges to your credit card or checking account. They billed my ex wife for a $22 dispute after I called many times and wrote a formal letter explaining there error.

Directv plays dirty pool and is unethical.

I strongly suggest that anyone refrains from signing up with them. I really have no hope that att will straighten them out and I expect ATT's reputtion to suffer.

Had to cancel my service due to moving to a new home and lots of trees are on the property so no clear line for service. I returned my equipment in the supplied box. Followed instructions and dropped off at UPS as directed. It has been almost 8 weeks, over 5 hours of conversations and tracking, 2 supervisors, and 6 reps, and countless transfers. They all say the same thing.... we have received your boxes but they are not checked in yet. So we cannot refund you $286, even though when they call the warehouse they have them. I have been assured by 2 supervisors my money would be refunded... WHAT A JOKE. The money has come out of my account 6 weeks after cancellation of services... and they can't refund. This is ridicoulous and will NEVER use again. Hello DISHTV you can't be any worse than DIRECT TV.

I was with DirecTV since 2006. In 2013 I changed from HD to Standard and received a new DVR. The DVR was very poor and never worked right. When I called Customer Service to let them know and to get a different one I explained the things it was doing and was told that I could send it back but if they could not replicate all of the problems I would have to pay for a new one. I was never able to get one that worked the way it should so when my contract was over I changed to Dish. I called and canceled my service and was told they would send a box and to send one of the DVRs back and recycle the other. It took over two weeks before I got a box. The next day I took it to the post office and mailed it back. I thought it had been taken care of when I got a bill in the mail for $143.78 for the DVR. This month I spoke to so many people trying to get this taken care of only to find out they received the DVR mid June. Finally got the bill taken care of and credited. Now I find out to get my money back will take two weeks for it to be put back into my account. They stole my money fast enough but can't get it back to me very fast. I have written a complaint letter to the president of directv. Like he will care.

Had the "pleasure" of speaking with Will, employee # 401203 on July 28,2015 at 5:35pm CST and after being curt and rude with me regarding my 2nd service interruption/error message in 11 days since the initial install I was informed that I could wait two days for yet another technician to come out in no more than a few days to fix the exact same error message as before. When I explained that waiting 2 days and that time window would not work due to work commitments I could not move, I was told that in that case I could wait until the following Monday (6 days with no service) for the next window. We went back and forth and he refused to work with me to get anyone out there at a more convenient time the following business day or the morning of the 2nd day. Thanks Direct TV, you've let me down yet again... Wonder what my credit will be this month?

So they offer you a time, you cry that is not good enough they tried to work with you but get real there is a line you have to wait just like everyone else you are no more or no less important than the customer who has been waiting, you where offered times take one or don't but you still pay because DirecTV has tried in good faith to fix the problem ball's in your court now

Due to the continuous phone calls from Directv trying to upsell me, after i had asked to not be called every time they called, i cancelled my service on 7-13-15. they called me twice in the week after i cancelled to STILL try to upsell my service!! I was told that i would receive a shipping package to return the equip. in 7 days and a final bill would be sent to me reflecting any balance due, which i have no issue with. Two weeks passed and the service was still not shut off. I called yesterday on 7-27-15 to see why, they showed no record of my request to cancel the service previously and now there is a second invoice for 7-20 thru 8-19 which is for AFTER I CANCELLED the service. I tried to resolve this yesterday on the phone (for almost an hour) and i was only offered a $40 credit which is unacceptable. I cancelled on 7-13 and the statement for 7-4-15 is for the billing period from 6-20 thru 7-19 and then they are billing me for an additional month of service AFTER i cancelled!!! From the billing cycle, they owe me a credit for the 6 days of service they billed for from the 13th to the 19th!! I was a loyal customer for over 10 years but i would NEVER do service with Direct TV again!

feel your pain, recently had a dvr that would only record a blank screen whan i called they informed me that my old box was being fazed out and everything was goind to HD, fine so far they showed uo with two boxes I only had one spent hours and multiple days on the phone due to the fact they were actually billing me for the last six years for a second box i never had..the offered a refund for the billing amount, gave us the exact $$ figure asked if we wanted credit or a check...neither has showed as of yet the 7-10 days was up three sets of 7-10 days today makes day23 of this fiasco when i call no supervisor can help promised to get back with us within 24 hours have come and gone over and over again when I called again yesterday I got three different explainations, we gave the money to verizon (bundle deal) we are expediating the request will take another 7-10 days and the we issued a credit to your card should post with 24 hrs that day before yesterday. Of course verizon and my bank have no idea what i am talking about...lied to again

I was on the phone with these guys for 5 days because they sold me a bundle with "evidently" Century Link that neither company honored after the first few months. I was also tossed around the globe with transfers with every issue that a 4th grader could have figured out. I was forced to break my bundle to get any discount at all from either company. My bills have gone up at both places at a steady climb for this last year. I'm paying over $70.00 more than promised with "bogos" charges added on. My question is, what is the BBC/ FTC/ or the Attorney Generals Office doing to stop this organized crime syndicate? They claim to have the #1 satisfaction report from consumers-really??? That in itself is a bold lie. Just read the complaints. When you see what is written up by their employees, you find that most are very happy with the good pay, all the candy (yes, candy), free gifts on the hour and exercise, play rooms they receive at work, to stick it to the customer. That gives you some idea of the PAID OFF mentally we're dealing with here. When you write up a complaint on a site, you know one of their "paid" damage control people are trolling on these sites to poke holes in your complaint by saying "what a wonderful provider this is." Obviously, YOU did something wrong. The bottom line is these people lie to get the sale AND DENY THEY LIED to cover it up. I have tried to get things in writing and they REFUSE to email or write about any agreements. It's easier to blame the other Representative as there is no accountability in place when you are talking on a phone. When you try to leave this "scheming outfit" they take an extra chuck out of your bank account as a good-bye gift. Oh yes, I don't care how you pay your account, I was told I HAD to put a credit card down on the account when I opened it or no service. They never mentioned they would be using it to fill their pockets with whatever they could "suck out" of you and then damage your credit for ..LOL.. "quality control" I even talked with someone from the "Office of The President." Believe me, this mentality starts from the top down! How many more complaints do you need before action is taken?

I'm not being paid to say this just had a few minutes between foosball games at lunch, but if you read your agreement you will see in section 5 where you authorized that good bye present, who forced yoeto break your bundle I don't recall talking any customer out of a bundle, as for #1 in customer service... 30 million customers at DirecTV and less than 5000 complaints listed you do the math I got to get back to the foosball table

You got to admit he makes it sound like a great place to work I wish I had all that prizes on the hour free candy that probably means no vending machines and fat cash on top of that I'd sell my humanity for that deal and as a bonus I get to enrage people on the phone where do I sign up
