Directv in New Jersey - My credit card was charged without my consent for contract cancellation fee

I switched to directv a year ago only to find that the Verizon internet connection available was so poor that I couldn't download any movies or shows - but I was stuck in the 2 year contract. One of the worst mistakes of my life. Then I moved to an apartment where the management company which would allow Directv for another $25/month to allow the dish to be mounted to the building! I thought this was enough to get out of my contract without paying the early cancellation fee but no - I received a bill for $340. I started paying this off $60 each month but that wasn't good enough for Directv who charged my credit card for $280. I will never give my credit card info to another company again and you shouldn't either.

So sounds like you didn't read section 5 of your agreement, section 5 states they have the right to use your card for outstanding balance owed on the account. So when you agreed on the contract you gave your consent to use any cards on file.

Details
Direct TV took $600+ out of my checking account without authorization. We called them and they told us too bad. Because they did this we lost two car payments. It is not like Direct TV is the Mercedes of satellite. We are canceling our service and now have reported them to the BBB and AG.

Directv in Deland, Florida - Incorrect Billing, Demanding I agree to Direct TV using my Credit Card information for Billing

For 4 to 5 months I have had to call and speak with a supervisor about the incorrect billing on my account. It started with charging sport package when I did not request it. I took Premier package because it included HBO and Cinamax, however I was told that for the Premier package I need to upgrade to HD and would be required to get new equipment, I agreed only if it did not cost extra, I was assured that it did not cost extra, now I am constantly being overcharged for services I did not want and am being told that with the new HD equipment upgrade I incurred a 24 month binding contract, and if I want service discontinued, I will still have charges for 20 more months. When I complained to the supervisor Naomi, she very kindly told me that I should have read the "fine print"on the contract. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Florida

Whenever there is an upgrade you are transferred to a 3rd party verification dept that confirms that you are getting the picture of charges and agreement term. Sounds like you said OK then charged your mind too late, it sucks but you agreed now it's keep the service or $20 for every month left. BTW next time read the fine print

About two years into our service from Direct TV, a piece of their equipment failed. They said they would send a replacement. When I recently called to discontinue our service, after using it for 3-4 years, Direct TV said I would have to pay an early disconnect fee. They had restarted our 24-month agreement at the time they replaced their faulty equipment with us!! Also, they require consumer to return their equipment within 14 days. About 7 days into this period, I received three big cardboard boxes for this purpose. Now, I have to repack the equipment, carry all these boxes to the post office and deal with shipping back. I fully expect Direct TV to charge me for the equipment now, saying I didn't return it in the 14 days. I doubt the boxes will make it back by then. My postmistress said that is what they did to her. In my opinion, they are a shady company and I would never deal with them again!

Directv in Easton, Connecticut - No contract, cancellation charge of $396.36 hit Credit Card

Wanted Directv for our motor home for 3 months while in Fl. Returned after 3 months, went to return the boxes and were told not without a penalty. We contested the fact that we had signed a 24 mo. contract that would be used only 3 mo. each year. Sent a letter to corp. office, rec'd no reply. Requested from different Directv reps. for a copy of the signed contract. . Have not rec'd it but was charged for canceling our " contract". Will try to contact CEO Mr. White in CA @ 800-531-5060 for help. ADVICE- NEVER DEAL WITH DIRECTV.

Yes my ame is frederick hall My Chagrin is over the fact that you didn't want to put on le manns 24 hr race like u did for many yrs and then u put only half of the race and its totaly inaccepable it only comes on 1 24hr period once a yr and u guys screw it up but i can tell u something i knw 500 ssubscribers of ur service and its not accepted u dont get to get big and keep ur status as such when u start losing business then u will knw what happens when u dont repsond to actual complants on cutting channels and programs

this commercial should be in PLAYBOY --- not on TV!!!!!!! This is an inappropriate commercial for all ages!! A women on the beach----- really advertising Direct TV??? and then the goat!! Directv in Dayton, Ohio - Losing signal

Being a DIRECTV customer, I have grown quite annoyed that every time there is any type of inclement weather, I lose my satellite signal for an undisclosed amount of time (some times shortly/ other times could be as long as weather is around). I understand if there is a time when a severe storm is present, but it will go out if it's just raining. I will indeed keep this in mind in the future when my contract runs out. I pay for a service and just getting a message "771" states that in a RARE occasions like a severe storm will knock out service, it doesn't even take that and definitely isn't RARE
