Direct TV Sucks!

I signed up for Direct TV. They are a scam. They will lie to you and charge you all kinds of money that you don't agree to. They pull money out of your account when ever they feel like it. My salesman told me not to worry about the rebates and that he would take care of it all. this is not true. My bill should of been 58.00 and they took 90.00 out of my account without asking. Every one you talk to you will get a different answer. Do not go with Direct TV. Also they ran wires all over my house and did not even hide them. Its looks trashy.

Refusal to give me the closest channels

1)Feb. 2011 Saw an offer, ordered Direct TV & received Orlando, FL stations upon request -- great! 2)Apr. 2011 transfer to MI -- all went well. (Bill To address=White Lake, MI 48383) 3)Nov. 2011 return to Haines City, FL 33844 (same address as Feb.) and Direct TV refuses to give me the Orlando, FL channels. We live 22 miles from Orlando, FL and 55 miles from Tampa, FL. Tampa is on the west coast of FL creating different weather, traffic, news, etc. than Central FL. Not a happy or satisfied customer as a result of this. Jerry Butler #3718****

DirectTV- Early cancellation fee

I am a senior citizen who has been laid off from my job and have been unable to find work. Needless to say my family is living a very tight budget. I have been a DirectYV customer for over 15 years. I recently attempted to reduce my DirectTV bill only to be told twice that this was not possible. I then went to a competitor for lot less. When I called to cancel my DirectTV account I was offered a price which was considerable less . I told them that I had my new system set up. I was then told that there would be a $300.00( 15 months at $$20 per month) cancellation fee. I was totally shocked as this had not been previously explained to me. I went back thru my records and could find nothing in writing from DirectTV stating this policy. I later spoke with a supervisor explaining my financial situation plus the fact that this had not been explained to me and was told that this was the policy and there was nothing that could be done to waive this charge. Having been a loyal customer for 15 years I am shoched at his treatment. In addition being a senior citizen who is unable to find work I was shocked at his callousness. Beware of this scam. Don't let this happen to you.

Direct Tv lied to me about my service package.

What a bunch of no good mis-leading thieves!! What was represented to me was NOT what I'm getting. I was told I was getting a 24 month fixed contract. low and behold when I got my first bill it was only for 12 months fixed and the HBO package was only for 3 months. I'd like to catch up with the fast talking gal that slurred her words so bad I had to keep asking her to repeat what she was saying. I asked for confirmation by email for all the promises she was making, oh no she said, We do this over the phone, they don't send emails. Now I know why! WOW!! I'd like to peel someones face off. I hate being lied to and I hate being ripped off!! I'm stuck now because they want 480 bucks if I cancel. And then to top it all off,, It took 45 minutes of going in circles to talk to some rude obnoxious woman to get this valuable information. WOW!!!

Direct TV

Wow, after considering and reading all the comments concerning Direct TV, I have come to the conclusion that 90% of the complaints cannot spell and have no idea how to use spell check. Not a lot more to say, but reviewing these comments, etc., since I am considering switching from AT&T U-verse to Direct TV. I currently have AT&T U-verse U-300 TV, 18 Mbps high speed internet and unlimited national phone service with all the extras. Too bad I have to say that after only 2 1/2 months of service, the operational reliability is poor at best.

Well I don't have a problem at all with spelling, but I do have a problem with DTV LYING to me about having local channels by the end of the year. That's the ONLY reason we signed up to begin with.

We signed up in April. We were promised our local channels by the end of the year for sure. Well last night I had to call about another problem ONCE again so I decided to ask the lady I was talking to about it. And she informed me that they aren't even in negotiations anymore.

A deal just couldn't be reached. And now they want to be upset because we want out of our contract??? But for anyone that is going through the same thing; seems the BBB is very much on the consumers side. I wouldn't be upset having to pay cancellation fees if I felt I owed them.

I have paid them before for switching from AT&T to Verizon. And I didn't even try to get out of them. I owed them. But in this case; they knew this was the ONLY reason we were signing with Direct.

And these people just out right lied so they could pick up ONE more customer.

It's not like they were going to go broke if they didn't have my business. This is definitely not a good way to run a business.

Spellcheck, is THAT what those little red squiggly lines are for??? I thought they were just pretty things for me to look at while I destroy the English language.

Will not send a technician out to service my dish.

On October 19, 2011 at approximately 3:15 my satellite dish started losing its signal. I talked with a Representative and I was walked through step after step. The end result, I don't have any service. I guess if your satellite is not getting a signal, DirecTv doesn't feel that is of urgency but will put you on the calendar for Friday, October 21, 2011 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. I'm sorry but in my opinion I would like to have my service now. I have been a valued customer for many years, I have talked family and friends to try your service but lately I have been extremely frustrated with the service. There's no bad weather, just a little wind but not enough to lose service. I want this issue rectified asap and no more excuses.

Quoted cancellation fee of $120 and then billed me for $280

We needed to cancel our service because of a medical issue. When I set up the cancellation the Direct TV representative told me the cancellation would be $120 and that if I did not pay when the bill was due they would send it to collections. I said I always pay my bills and would pay the $120 fee. When the bill came, the fee was $280. When I called to complain they said the representative misinformed me and that I owed $280. I repeated that I was quoted $120 and was prepared to pay that. I said paying more felt like fraud. Furthermore they said there was no one else I could talk with about this matter. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and writing the head of the company.

Directv will not remove dish from premises

Directv has a policy of not removing satellite dishes from the premises. The installer was updating equipment in my home and decided to change to a newer dish, not requested by me and didn't ask first, either. Then this big piece of trash is left on the ground for me to dispose of. I then found out that even if the consumer changes providers, Directv refuses to remove the dish. At apartment houses, many owners are refusing to provide Directv service because all the old dishes remain on the premises. this is an incredibly un-consumer oriented policy, and I want to see it stopped, company-wide. I am also reporting to the state consumer organization. I had to pay to have this hauled to the dump- unacceptable!

Find a phone book and have the guy that collects scrap metal take it away. You should not have to pay because you already know they collect per pound on metal.

Guest

I sure agree with all this. They dont even come back to clean up their own mess once the wires from the dish go all over the roof after a storm because of their shoddy work.

This practice should be outlawed immediately.

Guest

Direct TV just hung up on me after informing me they will not come remove TWO dishes from the side of my house. This is the most unprofessional company and I wish to God they could be stopped.

Their damage to the environment on a daily basis is unacceptable. If anyone can do something about this or has any suggestions, that would be appreciated.

Guest

I still have a horrible dish on my roof from 2 years ago that I had service.I agree it is an eyesore but If I remove it I am afraid there will be *** left im my roof. I am furious too let me know what consumer org.says.

Directv is a joke

I spend $140.00 a month for the NFL game ticket and my regular channels and Directv takes takes and takes then they act like "we are doing this for our customers". ***! FX has some of the best shows on tv and they want to take that from us who work hard for our money to pay Directv to give us the best product on tv. Sons of Anarchy and It's always sunny in phil. is FANTASTIC and yet people who pay $25 through local cable can watch this and we can't? Directv customer service is terrible and I laugh everytime I see their commercial stating them as #1 in customer service. The NFL game ticket is the only thing directv has going for them and they kind of cornered the market on that. If they drop FX I will most be leaving directv once my commitment with them is up.

Glad you got so pissy over something that wasn't even Dtv's fault. Maybe before you go spitting retarded statements, you will check the facts first.

Fox was the one pulling the channels, not Dtv. Loser

Guest

I just now switched to Dish TV - Must have FX & SOA !!!

Dish is running great promos - I'm getting better package, more receivers for less money, also I'm getting the NFL ticket for 3 months free and than $33 [maybe less] after that..

You should really check them out - like I said have no intention of missing any SOA!

Ripped off like the others, lying company!!

I threatened Direct TV's customer service with a Pissed consumer review but when I got here I almost changed my mind, many have already experienced the same. Anyway, like others, I signed up for basic U.S. and Tagalog programming for my wife. U.S. programming was required to get the international. Sure enough my free movie channels that I never once tuned in expired and I was hit hard for them. I called and had them removed. After some time my rebates expired and they nailed me again. I called and reduced my U.S. programming to minimum to retain my wife's shows affordably. I was quoted $56.98 monthly. Lo and behold, the bill came in, it was $66.05 a month. They are tricky liars and I will switch away 1st chance I get. For now I am stuck. It seems that a company that wants to retain their customer base would not trick people like that. What does it cost them to leave a switch turned on and prices consistent to keep happy customers?

NFL Sunday Ticket scam

I asked to non-renew the NFL Sunday ticket way before the lock out. I was told by two reps this was done. I got my bill the non-renewed for the next season and not the current. A lying supervisor named Valerie said she would take care of it but did not. After 4 calls it's finally done. They can give the package away free. We should get the same deal. Two co-workers called and got their package free. I was told you had to have had the NFL ticket for 10 years. Neither of them did.

I have been informed that I spent $422.98 for two years of this turd before I finally caught it on my AT&T bill.

I also told two agents VEHEMENTLY that I hate and despise football, and I did do the cancellation.

I do review my bill every month, but those charges are buried deep in my very long bill.

Before this I liked DirecTV, but this scummy consumer behavior has poisoned my user experience. I am so pissed off I'm going to switch to Comcast.

Kerney Ymn

Same Scam - I signed up for DirecTV in Oct 2012 and they put the NFL Sunday Ticket on my account even though I didn't ask for it or even want it. I called to have it removed and they said don't worry about it because it was free for my first year and I could cancel it next year.

I still asked for it to be removed and they refused. Twice again during the past year I asked that it be taken off my bill. The last call about 2 months ago, the lady said she couldn't take it off and that I would have to call back the last week of July to have it removed. Well it's the 3rd week of July and they have already bill and charged my credit card for $37.49 showing it as the first of 6 payments!!!

This is extortion pure and simple!

I called and they said they would credit my next months statement (they already have my money.) I called the BBB and they said they are getting many calls and that I should file a complaint on their web site. If everybody does this maybe we can get some action.

Guest

I have NFL sunday ticket through Direct TV. I am not pleased with it and will cancel it after this season for the following reasons; I feel that if I am paying $200, then I should be able to watch ALL of the games on the sunday ticket channels because they are in HD!

But if the game is playing on a local station, they block that game out on the Sunday Ticket channel, so you have to watch it on your local station that is not in HD. Also, I got the extra option to have it play on my iPhone so that when I'm cant be home, I can catch the game. But if it is playing on a local station, and is blocked off of the Sunday Ticket channel, then it is blocked off of the cell phone too! What a ripoff!

I called and canceled this option the day I ordered it after I tried to watch the game at work on my iPhone and was unable.

Direct TV told me that they have no control over the 'blockouts' but that the NFL makes the rules. They won't be getting my 200 bucks ever again.

Just realized I have been charged for NFL Sunday Ticket AGAIN....I was chared in Dec of 2011 Jan 2012 andFeb 2012 and was credited for those three months. I thought that was the end ..noooo.....just looked at my account and there it was again.....6 months later.....called and found out i have been charged since JUNE !!!...its the end of October...WTF...so ended up talking to top dog Dale in Colorado....turns out i shoulda called back in May....really May if I didn't want to be charged from June until today....I didnt want the channel last season, why would I want it this year and if I cancelled it and was credited in Dec, Jan, & Feb then why WHY would i want it 6 months later....turns out I was "warned" on my bill I was going to AUTORENEW....yes autorenew for something i didnt want in the first place and was credited for....again...WTF.....guess what...i dont look at my bill i pay the bill from my Ap on my phone ....

I get a bill in my po box thats my signal i need to pay......FOR WHAT IM SUBSCRIBED TO NOW......NOT WHAT I HAD LAST YEAR.....CROOKS!....glad i read the other comments because Dale never told me tonight i need to call every year im a customer if i dont want the *** nfl bs.

BTW...what football is on in MAY and JUNE .... Even my 9 year old knows thats baseball season :)

Guest

Apparently the NFL Sunday Ticket scam is part of my middle of the road package. Not only was I screwed out of it for this six months, I was informed I would have to call EVERY June for the length of my service to cancel or I would repeatedly be charged every year. Going to call the BBB, because in much nicer words, I was told tough *** and to *** off by the rep that I spoke to.

Guest

I had autobill enabled, same as Short 500 bucks from Richardson, TX....Didnt realize Sunday ticket was on the bill til it was too late. Going to better business bureau, usually win there! I didnt order it, it came free with sign-up of package.

Guest

I had auto-bill pay enabled and for the longest time was not aware that I had been paying 50 bucks a month for this NFL Sunday Ticket that I had never signed up for. I received many solicitation phone calls and declined all of them.

Now I realized why they stopped calling me. They just signed me up without my consent.

Guest

Last year we got an upgraded package which came with NFL Sunday Ticket (even though we did not want it). We decided we did not like the upgrade package and decided to cancel it and go back to a basic service.

Because the football season was already in play, we were not able to cancel the NFL Sunday Ticket till the end of the season. The rep told me that our subscription had been canceled and that we would not be billed again after the season ended. Well guess what showed up on our bill this month. NFL Sunday Ticket is back.

I'm currently going through the painful process of getting it off. Wish me luck.

Guest

We do not watch football..never have. Our bill came in higher because they added the Sunday Ticket RENEWAL (like I said we never had it)for the budgeted price spread out over several months.

They say they will credit it back to me but not until after I pay the higher bill which comes bundled through Verizon (I dislike them too) because Verizon will want to see the whole bill paid. That gives them my money for at least 30 days with no interest.

Figure this scenario with thousands & thousands of subscribers and they are making a bundle! Who says bundling doesn't pay?!!

Guest

I actually called in to cancel before the service started. Customer service rep on the other line told me, they'd give me a discount; $29.99 for two months and that's it.

The third month rolls by and I see a bill for the full price. I call into to ask what happened and was told I received the 2months of discount and the plan now reverted to the original price. I asked for the record of the rep I talked to. They couldn't/wouldn't locate her.

I asked for the recorded conversation, they didn't have that either. Plus, they charge you full price for February also.

My contract ends in August. I'll be happy to leave.

DirectTV unprofessional, lying idiots

Please do not call DIRECT TV for service, they will lie to you about the pricing and what you are getting, the day of the install, they tried to charge me additional $199 for one DVR box, they will upsell you packages promising all this and that, and you get none of it.If you get a flyer in the mail from them about their "great" specials, it's all BS, they will not honor any of it and try to stick you with crazy additional costs! I have spent literally 4 and a half hours trying to resolve the issue, after speaking with one supervisor, I thought my problem was solved even if i had to pay extra for what i needed, when i called back they did not honor any of what that supervisor promised me, after I specifically asked to make sure all of was in their notes. The 2nd supervisor ( Josh Id#55442), tried to charge me additional fees for the stuff that is clearly stated in their flyer comes for free! I am a level headed person, but I was in tears literally after speaking with him. And I am yet to see a refund on my credit card that they charged when I initially set up the service! They are complete and total crooks, you will not get not even a good but a mediocre customer service, it is the worst company in every aspect! Save your time and money and nerves!

Direct t.v. gave me an extension on by bill to pay then lied to me about that claim .

I have an account with Direct T.v. I called on Nov 16th to make payment arrangements.

I spoke with a rep. The rep gave me until Nov 30,2011 to pay the past due of $173.00 dollars. I asked to pay my bill on this date since it is the date that I get my Veteran's benfit check. My service was tempary suspended today on Nov 18th 2011 early this morning.

I called Direct T.V. and eventhough they say they record our phone calls they wouldn't turn my account on without a payment.

Good customer service. Yea right!!!

Directv does give extensions, both through their automated phone system for 5 days, and through a rep for up to 7 days. So, if your services were scheduled to be off on the 18th, they still wouldnt have been able to give you an extension till the 30th.

dude!!! nobody gives extensions these days! even direct tv....you sighned a contract thats the way it is!!
