DirecTV Ha

First off for a long time my directv is always searching for a signal and blacking off during all my programming. I called to have a tech and it was after that I learned they want to charge me for a tech to fix their problem. When I called they told me that they are not responsible for equipment working or not. They also told me that I am the owner of the box so I asked why they are charging me a leased fee still and know for 2 days have not gotten back to me about the credit I got coming for paying the leased fee. They are suppose to also credit me on that tech call because I reminded them all calls are suppose to be recorded and NO ONE told me I would be charged and besides that my service still isn't working and still no call yet what my credit will be. Im no law expert but I know enough that it is a crime to take money for goods promised if you don't deliver on the goods. If I owned any business that promised any goods for a fee then didn't give those goods to paid customers I'd be arrested. How does DirecTV get away with doing just that???

Direct tv city problems

Direct tv placed the dish in a location that doesn't comply with the city and now I have to pay for the dish to be moved.if I don't move the dish in 2 days I can have to pay $100 a day until its moved. When I called direct tv they said it was my responsibility to know what the city laws were and are going to charge me $52 and won't be able to make it to my house for 2 weeks. When they installed the dish. The guy told me that this was the perfect location for the dish to be placed

Father died and Direct tv hassles for $$$

I called Direct TV to notify them that my father passed away. I was given a sales pitch about keeping the service. I said no, we are selling the house. The representative said that we would have to provide a death certificate to prove that we weren't trying to get away with not paying the early cancellation fee. Really??? I have returned the equipment, and am now getting harrassed about almost $400 for equipment. My father died in a head on car accident and we don't have the autopsy report necessary for a death certificate. I just spoke to a representative that said that she could not prevent the phone calls and emails. I would just have to put up with them until I provide all the necessary information. They are the only company that has given me any hassle. What a sad way to run a company!

Yeah, we had the same problem when my mother-in-law died in a house fire. We called Direct TV and they also tried to sell us the service...

really?! It's not in our name, how can we keep it? And they said they could not stop the service or automatic payments coming out of her account until they had a death certificate... they never got one, and they didn't get to continue to charge her account because the government froze the account and took their money back (she was ex-military) PS...

we told them it was a total loss house fire and they still wanted thier equipment back. Really?? *** ***. It burnt to a plastic puddle of goo.

PS, no we are not paying you 400.00+ for something that wasn't ours to begine with. They are so ***...

they never got a penny out of us. Good riddance..

Do not open the bill when you recieve it. Simply Write on the bill and any other items you recieve from them "return to sender - Reciepent Deceased"

I called to continue process could not get in touch with same rep was told credit check had to be run again and I no longer approved for no deposit now I needed 200.00 deposit. my husband tried and same thing happened to him. I asked to speak to supervisor and no supervisor was around to help out. Direct tv has sucky people working there and their set upfor taking information down is unprofesional and very unfair. I am going thru almost the same thing. I have asked direct Tv to send me a return box and they keep on denying to do so. I explain to them I will not return it because of the problems they are having with the post office,

Guest

I'm having the same issue going on close to a year now on five separate occasions. On two occasions they said trash on three occasions there were supposed to send call tags.

I finally got call tag for genie but they said they never received it. After several people they finally said oh it shows coming in but not being received. They actually credited me for the genie but still I have this dinosaur of a DVR that they're supposed to send call tags on but never do. I just received my second bill from a second collection agency and it just goes on and on.

Never throw away anything they tell you to throw away because they will stick it to you you just have to be extremely patient. They should be sued for fraud and hopefully one day that will be

Its kind of ridiculous that DTV offers free Nfl package, all movie channels and dvr for free to NEW CUSTOMERS. But cant offer anything to a 15 year customer who pays his bill on time. Lousy customer service and loyalty service.

I've gotten the notice to listen to some guy tell me they might have to drop certain channels--it's just a matter of money, I'm thinking--DTV wants to charge a LOT and give you minimal service, so. . .I'm just waiting out the remaining months on my contract so I can get my cable back!

We have your account information and all fees were due at the cancellation of your service. You had multiple charges against your account and we charged you the correct amount.

I'm sorry that you did not pay your bills on time.

We will never pay you a red cent. Good luck to you.

Guest

If you have the tracking # for the boxes you sent back you can prove they got them by calling whoever took the boxes and checking the #'s.If you do not have tracking # and sent them via Fedex call fedex and see if they have record of picking up your boxes or call whoever picked them up and ask them to check

Guest

Ask your bank if you can dispute the charges and reverse it..some banks will let you others will not but it is a shot Good luck n getting the $180 back or any amount from DTV.

DIRECT TV CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS

Updated by user Oct 07, 2011

I RECEIVED A GENERIC E-MAIL FROM DIRECT TV, NOTHING MORE THAT A FORM ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND NO CONCERN FOR MY ISSUE…….NO CARING FOR A LONG TIME CUSTOMER. I CAN\'T WAIT UNTIL MY 2 YEARS ARE UP SO I CAN GET COMCAST.

Original review Sep 06, 2011
2-3 weeks ago Direct TV hooked up three Vizio TV's. Two are working fine but our new 55" TV had given us problems soon after the installation guys left. The TV works fine and has a great picture my problem is the Direct TV remote control does not always turn on the TV when I click the on button. The other two work fine….I have called Direct TV at least 20 times and get a run around advising me the problem is the TV? They finally set out someone who DID NOT CORRECT the problem. I sent a complaint E-mail to Direct TV that acknowledged my E-mail? One day I will be a former Direct TV customer.

Misrepresentation of contract

On January 15 2011, I contacted DirecTV satellite services to review my account. The purpose was to determine whether to continue service with this company after having been a customer in good standing since 2003.

Disclosing that I was considering switching to another television service provider (cable/satellite) if I could not receive similar offered/advertised services from DirecTV, that others were offering, a verbal offer was made by the customer service agent, as follows:

1. swap out of a standard receiver with an HD-DVR receiver for 0.00 (I agreed to pay a delivery and handling fee of $19.50 + $1.50 tax to total $21.50 before the end of the call by credit card)

2. free DVR service for 12 months if I agreed to a 24 month service agreement and kept at least 2 receivers active on my account for an additional 12 months

3. free professional installation

4. maintain my current pricing plan with no increase in my monthly billing fee for 24 months unless after 12 months I opted to continue receiving DVR service at which point I would be charged an additional $7/month; if I opted to not receive DVR service, I would be required to send back the HD-DVR receiver and continue to have, at least, 2 receivers active for the duration of the service agreement (12 more months)

Once the details of the verbal agreement were stipulated, I asked that this be emailed to me for confirmation. Upon receipt of the email, I agreed to the "Terms and Conditions" (Exhibit B) that were available, as instructed by the DirecTV representative, by direct hyperlink in the email under "Other Important Details To Remember", "terms and conditions of your order", "as stated in your agreement" (see exhibit A)

On January 20, 2011, the installation was performed and my wife, who was not privy to the verbal stipulations, and the "Terms and Conditions" agreement, signed what she believed was merely a confirmation that the installation had been completed to her satisfaction. She also agreed to the inclusion of a "service contract" that was "free for the first 30 days."

Dispute:

As stated above, the final point of the contract/agreement was that there would be no increase in my monthly service charge. However, upon receipt of the February statement of charges for services from DirecTV, the DVR service had not been credited and an additional $1 was added to all receivers active in my home. The previous months bill (January 2011) was $86.93 and February's bill is $100.29, an increase of $13.36.

Obviously, the terms of the agreement we not respected and institued by DirecTV. If I had not reviewed the bill before my wife paid it, I believe that DirecTV would have interpreted this as a binding agreement through payment of services.

I contacted DirecTV customer service (800-DirecTV) by telephone. I spoke with a customer service agent (CSR), a supervisor (Ashley), and finally a manager (Dennis) in an attempt to reconcile the discrepency.

Ultimately, after some very heated dialogue, numerous long periods on holds, transfers, and lengthy explanations, I was able to get the agents and the manager to agree that the DVR service was to be credited for 12 months, that the service contract was not part of the original contract thus had to be removed, and that I reserved the right to cancel the DVR service at the end of the first 12 months as stipulated in the verbal conversation notes (only within DirecTV receipt but confirmed as existent by the DirecTV agents) and the "Terms and Conditions" received and reviewed by email on January 15, 2011.

However, what remains in dispute is the increase in the monthly "Fee" for additional receivers that increased from $5/month to $6/month. Both Ashley and Dennis, state that per the "Customer Agreement" found on the DirecTV website the company reserves the right to increase fees at any time. They also stated that notifications had been sent to customers about the rate increase. However, when I asked for them to reproduce that notification they could not and one stated that it was sent out over 2 months ago and another stated probably 2-3 weeks ago. When queried as to why this rate increase was not disclosed upon my negotiating of a new "Service Agreement" I was told, "well, we can go to lunch and when we come back things have changed". I spent a considerable amount of time reviewing old DirecTV emails I received to see if there was any containing a notification of a rate increase to no avail. Regardless, since no disclosure or representation of fees were introduced into the agreement by the original CSR, I argued that what ever increases occurred were not legal since we had negotiated a contract and agreement which clearly stipulated that there would be no changes i.e., additional charges, applied to my bill. Dennis argued that the Customer Agreement clearly states that the company reserves the right to increase its fees; I argued that the contract was null and void. He stated that I could cancel the service at which point I asked, "and how much will I be charged?" Dennis stated that per the Customer Agreement the company had the right to charge up to $480 however he was willing to take partial accountability for the lack of clarity between what was sent to me in email, and via hyperlink within that email, and the DirecTV website Customer Agreement. For this discrepancy, he would only charge me $5/month for twelve months and then $6/month thereafter for additional receivers. Understanding that this would be considered a "settlement of the dispute", I declined the offer.

Resolution:

Please assist me and the many other "customers" enslaved by DirecTV through these one-sided binding agreements. Fair and ethical practice establishes trust and a culture of justness. It is obvious that DirecTV uses deceptive, false, and misleading business practices. In addition, DirecTV forces its CSR's, Managers, and Supervisors, as well as it "Professional Installers" to commit collusion; the only time customers sign documents is after the installation is completed, not before, as stipulated as necessary in California contract law (http://www.lectlaw.com/files/bul15.htm). These documents contain "fine print" that attempt to nullify any and all previous agreements except the ones that benefit DirecTV and its affiliates. The signing of these documents is misrepresented as only to "certify that the installation was completed to the customers satisfaction," when in reality the document is much more. The document to be binding must include the stipulation of all previous verbal and written agreements,

"1623. Where a contract, which is required by law to be in writing, is prevented from being put into writing by the fraud of a party thereto, any other party who is by such fraud led to believe that it is in writing, and acts upon such belief to his prejudice, may enforce it against the fraudulent party." Can not find account

When you pay for MLB package they do not tell you that there are black outs of certain games. If there are blackouts why am I paying extra to see the games. I still have that problem but now my wife called because she rented a movie and the signal was not good. During the movie the picture kept looking like a jigsaw puzzle that you had to put together to see what the picture was. My wife called Direct TV and they said they could not find our account with any of our phone numbers, our address, or the number on the actual box that they put in our house. Of course my wife said since you can not find our account I guess we do not have to pay them. If you are owed money how can you not find the person that does not owe you?

Direc tv is ***

we have had direc tv for quite some time and decided to get at&t uverse because it was cheaper and you could get all channels including the hd channels. we called an cancelled direc tv after we got the at&t hooked up.

they said they would send us boxes to put our equipment in to send back. they never sent it so we called about 2weeks later to see why they haven't sent the boxes and they said that they would get them sent out. by the way they owed us almost $50 because we cancelled in the middle of a billing cycle and they won't send us that check unless we send the equipment back.

now they either want us to pay to have it sent back which was suppose to be free or they want us to keep it and pay $8 a month on something we aren't using and have tried to send back to them. what is up with these people!

Don't send them anything, and don't have any more conversations with them. If they want their equipment back, they can come and get it. Count that $50 as lost, because you'll go nuts trying to get them to pay it, so don't play their game.

Direct TV Directs IT upyours

Illiterate, contradicting, deliberately annoying DIRECT-TV salepeople. James: I informed him that I'm a potential new customer, and he replies since you already had service you'll have to call in, I'll be glad to give you the number; And then CUTS ME OFF - GOODBY Great salesmanship, the MANAGER must reflect in his staff. Another salesperson: I inquire about delayed 3 free months of premium channels, she says yes, sure, then probably then I never heard of this before, I'll connect you to a supervisor then hangs up. I inquire about payment options, and she says monthly is OK, PERIOD. Then I ask about services - details regarding packages - she informs me, then she states that you don't gett that with certain payments, yet didn't mention this previously when I asked about payments. We are past - no fast - becomming a third world, we are an eighth world. Explanation: third world people postmigratorily established around 50 to 75 thousand years ago, mankind originated in Africa about 200 thousand years ago (I've heard several varying estimates all DNA based - oddly enough)so prorated or extrapolated that makes Africa about eighth world. And we are absorbing and de-evolving at a tremendous pace. Go Devo! Go James!

Direct TV and Door to Door reps are frauds

I had a rep come to my door and change me from dish to direct TV, I told them I was moving in 3 weeks and wanted to wait, I was told we will move you for free! When moving day came, I called Direct TV, it was not free it was $50. I talked to a supervisor who took care of my bill but I still had to pay the $50. When I called to pay the $50, had to wait til payday, I was then told I had to wait 31 days to be reinstalled. I waited on the phone for and hour and 45 miniutes for a supervisor named Donna to tell me, you can't get something for nothing wait your turn and stop being a baby, her exact words! I then called back got Heather, who I told I would not be using their service they could eat the $500 early cancelation fee, and I would go back to Dish. Dish was installed in 48 hours by the way. She said she would send me the boxes to return and waive the fee. I got a $0 bill, but no boxes, so I called. they sent the boxes to the old address and asked if I would go get them!!!!! then said oh you ow $349 for early cancelation. No I don't! Now I have to wait another week for the new boxes, and 30 days for the new bill to be sure I am not charged for cancelation. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told to get online and email them. How are they number one in customer satisfaction, I am not the only one they have done this to?
