DIRECT TV SUCKS

Direct TV is the worst possible service to work with. My roommate was stuck in a 2 year contract, that she was unaware of... her boyfriend signed up over the phone (no signature) and used her account. Long story short, we have moved to a building that doesn't allow dish on the roof. Direct TV has been nothing but RUDE to us and won't let her break the "contract" they are *** and their customer service is awful! She is sitting on the phone with them across the room from me while I type this and I can hear them yelling at her! If you are wise, do not use direct tv!

If they have your room mates bank or credit card#,tell her to change these asap or close the account. Some apt complexes does not allow DirectTV due to bad experiences with DTV in the past

Guest

You know the dish doesnt have to be on the roof...and your room mate should have her boyfriend pay to break the contract. Mount the dish on a stand and put it on your balcony. If you arent facing south then you may have complications.

Wish I wouldn't have signed up for Direct TV

We have had Direct TV for three months today. We are very disappointed. The technician who came out was aggressive and angry, yeah really. He told us he wasn't allowed to even touch our roof, then he bolted the satellite dish right through the roof, which is where my husband went when he came home(through the roof. My college age son was home and insisted the man was on crack... If that wasn't bad enough, every time it rains hard, or the wind blows alot, we have no tv. This Spring we had 47 tornado warnings, and everytine the weather was active, we couldn't even watch to see if we should take shelter. We have learned to use the internet for severe weather info. Also we hate that there is no local weather channel like we had with Fios TV. The main weather channel sucks for local info. We are so very sorry we have atwo year contract. VERY BIG MISTAKE!!!

New receiver

I have had direct TV for about four months, and it is one problem after another. Husband got a new TV for fathers day and we wanted a new HD box to replace standard. They wanted 99.00 for box and 50.00 processing fee, plus charge me monthly for the service. What a rip off!! 150 to use their equipment. I was complaining about the cost of Cox. Not no more! I guess I am willing to lose 400 dollars just to get rid of Direct TV! So Beware out there. Stick with Cox there are no hidden fees. Direct TV sucks all the way around!!!

Charged me $863.00 on my credit card, and I don't even have Direct TV

On 3/31/11 by mother stopped by my house and asked if she could use my credit card to pay the initial set up fee to Direct TV as she wished to have their dish installed at her house. We called the company from my house, and after a very long process we had things set up and a visit was scheduled. They were quite confused about why my mother's phone number was not the number we were calling from. After explaining it at least 3 times, we thought the matter was settled. All they had to do was swap out the dish that was already there and put in theirs. A very simple job that did not require anything but the dish swap. The day before they were scheduled to do the visit to set her dish they called me. Again - I went through the process of trying to get my phone number off their records and my mother's phone number on it. I swear to you - 2 hours later they called me again to reverify the site visit and I went through the whole thing again, and again, I was assured that it was taken care of. The day of the visit 4/3/11: the man doing the installation called me to verify that someone would be home because the number still wasn't changed and he thought he was calling my mother. I gave him her number and verified the directions to her house. About an hour later he called me again to tell me that he was running late, because he was still using my number and still assuming I was her. She did finally get it installed, and she patiently explained to them that they needed to get her phone number on the file. In May I received my credit card bill. On it was a charge dated 4/11/11 in the amount of $862.66! I called them immediately and was told by customer service that they could not find that charge anywhere in their files. Therefore, I had to complete the dispute form they would email to me, and fax it back. Within the hour I had that done. This is day 10. I've called twice today and have been told that the finance dept. would call me back today. They haven't called. My credit card has not been credited. I don't know where to go from here. Yes, I am very, very pissed!

directv stole money from someone that they have no contract with. they did the same thing to me.

I dont need to take it up with their customer, they need to find and bill their customer. Its not my problem if they make bad decisions who to provide service for. I am not responsible for other peoples bills. If I paid with western union they would not have stole money from western union to cover their customers bill.

If I paid with a money order they would not have stolen their fees from the money orders bank. and if I paid cash they would not have taken more money out of my wallet. But they have it all setup where they can steal from credit cards and debit cards. they need to go find their customers and stop stealing money from people they have no contract with.

anyone who supports them is supporting liars and thieves. think about that before you say anyone owes anything so someone else should have to pay.

Guest

But she doesn't. All they did was switch the dish out.

Absolutely no other hardware was used.

And according to Direct TV, no such charge appears anywhere on her account. I called 2 more times today and still, no-one knows what's going on - not even the supervisors.

Guest

obvious your mother owes them the $863 so get it off of her.

Direct TV Scam

I am military and moved direct TV claim after offering me a special for 12 Months I was sent an agreement for 24 months which they claim I failed to read. I will never sign a 24month agreement as I moved a lot. Now they are charging me over 300 for 18 months of unused service. This is rediculous! I do my reserch I had Direct TV as a special for 19.99 per month I did refer a friend along with the special. I don't make alot and this is why I'm careful when chosing these luxury items. I am so angry, and fustrated. I paid every bill on time directly comming from my checking account and now its about $380 that they now want to charge me. Then I had the account on hold for the last 6 months which was advised by another service agent and when my 12 mark is reached I can be released it was a lie. The lady claimed I had a 12 month special with a 24 month obligation it makes now sense. I am so angry!!!! and broke!

Direct TV can't fix a problem

First I had to get the state AG to send a letter because Direct TV lied when I signed up. Numerous problems since. I have had the same problem with no signal twice. Each time required a technician. Each time the next date available was four days for a technician to show up. Totally unacceptable. I hate my cable company, but am switching back. They can't get anything correct. I leave a phone number and they cannot even get the number correct when I call back. Typically, a call for service takes 15 minutes just to get a human on the phone.

Direct TV & Sams Club-Won't honor $100 referral program

We signed up for Direct TV at our local Sam's Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. My brother has Direct TV in another state and gave us his account number and told us we could each get $100 if we say he referred us. The account rep for Direct TV confirmed that we would each get the $100 referral in about 8 weeks on our bill. I had him write this on our contract. Well it has been over 10 months and we have not seen a dime. When we call Direct TV they said we must go through the company from Sams. When we talk to the company from Sams Club they make some calls and assure us they will take care of it, but nothing has been done. They are not honorable and will say anything to get you to sign up. I am totally disgusted by their run around.

Sure you could have just used your friends account number when signing up online but you would not have received as many discounts. Your friend just wants his referral money.

Compliance is very important to Smart Circle. You will find dishonest people in every business. The story about the secrete shopper experience is not something that Smart Circle would condone. The dishonest business owners are always removed.

There is no need to use tricks and gimmicks to sell the DirecTV product. The sales reps that have to resort to that kind of conduct are not genetically capable of doing sells as a profession and should pursue other careers. Please take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others for your short comings.

I will not sell to people that are only price oriented. DirecTV is sold on value. BMWs, Mercedes, Audi are sold on value. DirecTV is a premium service. People have cable and dish network because they are economically driven.

People always bash Smart Circle because they do not understand how business in general works. They have never run a business before or lack an understanding of what marketing companies do.

Have a great day!

Everyone who took time to find a complaint on how your service from direct tv is lacking due to a 3rd party setting you up.

I challenge you all to look up your competition complaints. You might realize you received the lesser of all the evils. Not only do you receive more HD channels than all the competition if you have HD tvs. DTV prices are better using Smart Circle at a retailer, and that person who signed you up puts everything in writing.

I think consumers need to start being grateful for the chance to get a upgrade and save money.

I read plenty of negative reports on both Time Warner and Uverse services. More and I mean alot more than DTV.

Reality check.. 9-10x you received a way better value than what you had in the past or what you currently were thinking of changing..

Bottom line stop whining about the small stuff.. No one is perfect, but DTV is way better than the other choices. Whether you get it from corporate or a retailer.. btw the retailer gives you a better deal..

your welcome

Guest

Your absolutely right!! Let me give you more info.

The people working in SAMS are "authorized retailers" for DTV. They dont actually work for them. The company is called "SMART CIRCLE" but every little branch off it creates a new name, for example I was under Don bankhead for BF Circle- Bankhead financial.. I use to work for them but I found out quickly(by my 3rd week) that its a huge scam! Pyrimid scheme!

We were brought to an office for "training" they bold face lied to us about everything from pay to what we tell our customers. Every morning we had pep rallys where they would tell us the rules and compliance. Then tell us how to get around the rules to scam sams club and best buys paying customers! They tell us if the customer dont ask then dont tell them.(ex: 24 months contract)I was secret shopped by my employer and cussed for telling my customers the truth.

I am not a scam artist and I think they should all be kicked outta sams and best buy. Shame on Sams Club and Best Buy for letting this go on!

But since they are making 300. for everyone the reps sign up I seriously doubt they will stop.

Direct TV lied again 12 month vs 24 obligation

After dumping Direct TV because they kept raising our rates, I made the mistake of signing back up when we moved to a new location, and were promised a $30/ month rate with only a year obligation. Direct TV again employed Bait & Switch marketing, which is illegal, but hard to prove. After the installer left, there was a piece of paper sent saying that we had a 24 month obligation. When confronted with this on the phone, I get the smoothly practiced line of "we are so sorry if you were misinformed, but our policy is...""...and there is nothing we can do about it" Well, the thing to do about it is dump them, and pay only what you were quoted by the representative, and NEVER do business with them again. It is a corporate culture of deceit and lying to the consumer that you are faced with, and no accountability between what the sales person promises you and what the corporate billing office does. I'm in the same boat... it's total BS but yet they continue to get away with it.

My bill doubled without warning and I got the old "Well YOU signed up for the agreement". I guess your salesperson's deception is my fault, huh?

The EXACT same thing happened to us!

Directv services

Directv promised I would receive "local" t.v. channels when I signed up - I went over this w/the rep on the phone before agreeing...she assured me the tech would do that when he installed the system. When he arrived & we discussed it, he said it was beyond his control, that Direct assigned those channels. I have yet to be able to receive my local t.v. channels (10 mi. away); instead, I am forced to receive channels from 60 mi. away. It's a concern w/bad weather. Have sent a petition w/signatures from neighbors, as well as a letter.

Direct tv keeps charging us for services we have not ordered.

Direct TV charged us for a sports ticket which we had not ordered. Calling the 800 number was a nightmare. First of all, I had to talk to an inanimate object. I hate having to listen to all the annoying auto-options. When I finally was able to say, "Speak to a representative," I was put on hold for over 30 minutes. Listening to 30 minutes of constant bad elevator music and DTV infomercials drove me up the wall. Once the girl finally answered, she was polite and helpful, but by then I was too upset to be nice back.

Don't TRY DIRECT TV

I was a Direct TV customer for more than 4 years. We cancelled the service - long after our initial contract and then mailed all the equipment back to them. They continued to charge my credit card. I called and was told we did not fullfill the contract even though the contract states differently. We NEVER made a late payment and returned all equipment in perfect condition. Then turned my over to a *** obnoxious collection agency - meanwhile they continue to send me "special offers" to return as a customer. NO thanks. Never again for this useless service. Do not be fooled by Direct TV.

To DTV Bad.....

This is totally your fault. You suspended your contract but then 'forgot' about it.

DTV doesn't know what your situation is or that you are no longer at the address. They restarted the service, per your direction, as you agreed to the 6mos suspension.

Grow up and pay your bill. Your ruined credit will be a far bigger problem then paying back $200 or whatever it is.

Guest

Too many big companies are doing this - treating customers - good, paying customers - like ***. Wake up America!

Refuse to be treated like this.

NEVER FORGET. Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECT TV or any other company that does not treat you fairly.

Guest

Direct tv used very dad business practices. We had direct tv service for 14 years.

When we moved to another state, we called to have service disconnected. They said that we didn't need to cancel service, just place it on a 6 month vacation hold. We told them we didn't want to do that because we weren't sure if we'd be getting cable or satellite. They insisted and said don't worry you can cancel later if you need to.

With many other moving issues to deal with, we just said ok. Then we forgot about it. After about 8 months they sent us an email with two months of billing charges. My husband called and they said we would need to send the equipment back, which he agreed to.

Then he went through being transfered, disconneted and put on hold forever! He tried this on three different occasions. We finally got in contact with a customer service rep. which told us we are liable for those service charges.

Which is rediculous because we haven't lived at that home for a year, and they know they haven't provided service there. The home hadn't sold and remained vacant. They tried to transfer him to get a return shipping label and once more he was put on hold forever and disconnected. Now we are being persued by a collection agency.

How crazy is that?! Seems like people are there 24/7/365 if you want to buy something, but it's impossible to get help when you need it!

Direct Tv

The average victim of the 29.99 a month 250 channel scam it started Nov13th 2010. At present they state that I have an outstanding balance of almost 800.00. I got an empty box in the mail with my statement yesterday. For 8 months I fought with them getting hung up on over drafted on my credit card and got screwed over twice on the refer a friend program one in which my neighbor was going to have 5 recievers installed they never showed, Thank-god for him. with 80 or above statements monthly since I stated i let them dis-connect services on May 25th. I am just curious since i have been billed for this equipment and my gut tells me its staying there if I should just keep it for the sum of almost 800.00. Anyone with advise or a number to help with the class action suit im ready!
