Directv - Cable Service Review from Mansfield, Ohio

Directv sucks! Their sales department peoe will tell you anything you want to hear to make a sale. Tbey make the sale and then make you sign a 2 year contract to ensure they have you by the balls! They are a monopoly along with the couple other large cable/dish companies. I pay good money only because there are a few popular channels that i actually watch which are in the bigher priced packages. To put the icing on the cake i cant tell ya how many times they have called and interrupted my supper just to offer me free hbo, cinemax etc. We have already told them we dont care about this promotion. Its ALWAYS the same *** promotion! Of course their is NEVER another promotion to offer something id actually be interested in!

Be mighyt careful of the so called "free" promotions for there is nothing free with DTV! There is always a big price to pay such as extending your contract or putting you in a higher monthly priced package.

DIRECTV BLOCKS SOME DVR PROGRAMMING FROM ANY FAST FORWARD FUNCTION!

This is a real Directv policy. I'm 10 days new to Directv - having switched from DISH. I can confirm that DISH does NOT do this. SNL episodes on Directv are blocked from any fast forward and I expect this 'Network kick back cash grab' policy to cascade to other shows. I called Directv today to ask about this issue and the first rep I spoke with said there was no such policy. The tech guy in follow up though did say the policy was in place but - when asked - said there is no available listing of other shows affected. LOL let me register my shock and surprise!!. Directv does not want to advertise their back room cash grab - certainly not to prospective customers before the contract is signed.

Directv looses connection at any time

I've called directv on numerous occasions asking why I keep loosing my connection on three TV's while the main still operates. They keep telling me I need to tell them about a number on the screen when there is none, I keep having to reset main tv to get all to work again. Have not gotten anywhere talking to company, how can I get help with this matter? It's a problem that I'm having a hard time with, and I hate being locked in with a company that is not providing the service that they say they would, now with 100 words is there another way to get these people to understand?

You send everyone a few crumbs to watch for a few days. We then are offered a special deal for 3 months. Your rouse is: When we change back after the 3 months, you no longer have what we had before and you whittle down the package we had. Of course there is nothing we can do about it. Direct TV did the same to me. They charged me early termination fees.

I removed the billing from my account as was still charged. Now they are trying to charge me again for 5 more days. 55 dollars. The reason I cancelled in the first place was because they added 19.32 for insurance we told them we did not want.

I never got that money back as well. I bundled with AT&A, they added a Frontier IT service that we did not want. 15.95. I never seen the rebates 300 for the bundling.

False advertisement. I am fed up, I has a customer for 9 years. I will never go back. I recommend cutting the cord and going with Sling TV.

20 bucks a month and well worth it.

Directv - Cable Service Installation Review from Amelia, Ohio

Direct TV instructed me to cancel my current time warner account and then told me an install was not possible at my location after a 10 min visit.... i live in a trailer park. I can accually hear my neighbors footsteps if im quiet enough. BOTH of them on either side and 25ft across the street have this brand, company, and techs. I even offered to have any limbs removed as did my neighbors with the obstruction in question. I hope its not me but im pissed and IM NOT EVEN A CUSTOMER YET. *** it then dish network is more but they were polite and willing to do what it takes to satisfy me. Im not even hard to satisfy. I offer coffee and assistance if needed to any tech ive ever used.

Directv - And I thought Comcast was bad!

The DirecTV rep at Costco promised us that all the channels we wanted were in our package and even told us about extra ones that came with it. We even had him write things down to make sure. We get it all set up and we find out that almost ALL the channels we were promised we don't get, like we got only 2 channels that we were promised and even lost a bunch that we had with Comcast. Call customer service to complain and we were accused of trying to SCAM THEM for free channels! Then customer service tells us that the reps don't technically work for them so they can and do say whatever they want to get people to sign up, DirecTV is not liable. They are well aware of this, but take no responsibility for it and make no effort to stop it. To get the channels we were promised was several tiers up and A LOT more per month. They even confirmed that they would rather lose us as customers than honor the reps promise and we were still required to pay the HUGE cancelation fee. We contacted the BBB to get out of the contract due to bait and switch and discovered that this is actually a really common complaint and problem with them. Then we were finally able to cancel and because we did so at the beginning of a billing cycle we were told we won't owe much. I checked the website several days later and the website said we only owe $18. No other amount listed, just the $18 so I clicked pay and when it refreshed the page it said it had charged my bank account $94! They have no cancel payment button on their website (every other online pay I have EVER used does). I called customer service to have them cancel it as I had JUST done it so it wouldn't have started going through. They confirmed I only owe $18, but said "oh well, we can't cancel payments so you will be charged the $94. ALL we can do is start the process to issue you a refund in 6 weeks on a Visa gift card." A GIFT CARD! All because they don't want to cancel the payment, but used the excuse they can't. I was transferred to 3 people who all still tried to hard sell me in the middle of my complaint! I finally explained it like this "imagine you are at the store and the cashier and register say you owe $20. You swipe your card expecting to pay $20 and are suddenly charged $100! Then when you complain you are told yes, you only owe $20, but oh well. Nothing I can do. Maybe we will send you a giftcard in 6 weeks. How would YOU feel?" Then when I cancelled they told me that in 7 days they would send me labels and information on how and where to return the equipment. I also got an email that said that if I don't return the equipment in 7 days they will charge me. So, they plan to send me the information and labels when it's too late to not get charged? I switched because Comcast has horrible customer service and I thought it was the worst cable company, but they never flat out lied to me, accused us of scamming them and stole from me.

Watch the account they have on file for you because they may be trying to charge you for non-returned equipment. It may be wise to send the boxes back on your own but be sure to send them insured so they will have to sign for them. As far as getting your money back DTV does not like to return any money.

Directv in Lexington Park, Maryland - IT Technical Support has no IT Technical knowledge

I tried to provide them with as much information as I could regarding the technical network problems that were occurring. They kept on asking for the error code, which I had already been told meant to check my internet connection and that I may have a broken wire connection somewhere. I know for a fact that my connection was fine, sense it was wireless. The HR22 is assigned an IP address through the DirecTV SWM system. When the CCK is connected, which is needed for online access and On-Demand, my internal router is now the DHCP server and tries to assign an internal IP Address to allow gateway connection enabling an Internet Connection. Because the receiver has already been programmed by the SWM, it now will not allow an Internet Connection until a complete RESET is performed using the red button on the receiver. Once RESET is performed (and after waiting the 20-minutes, which DirecTV refers to as a couple more seconds) for the system to come back up, then hooking up the CCK again, I am able to program it for internal router connection and internet connection. Since have had the CCK, some time during the day, DirecTV resets is, which again allows the SWM to set the receiver to the default IP, which now has caused the entire RESET process to have to be again performed. When the situation is explained, the so-called "tech support" personnel ask for error code and state "the possible fix for this is a Genie Receiver, which I am eligible for free upgrade". Woohoo! And also costs an additional $10.00 more a month, otherwise I could get another DVR receiver, but that will cost me $198.00. I think the only choice is to cancel DirecTV. What a shame, I have their most expensive package, was an NFL Sunday Ticket customer for the past 8 years, and have always been a customer since the beggining of the RCA DirecTV system.
