Not following contract with costumer

I am a direct tv subscriber I demand that sonlife broadcast be on 24 hrs a day.7 days a week. They need to be allowed to broad cast 24hrs a day 7 days a week, that's what the contract is for. Wednesday evening January 19 2011 you preempted the programing and I missed out on a Live service. This is not the first time this has happen. I am a supporter of sonlife broadcast and when you cheat them out of air time you are cheating your loyal costumers also. I trust that you will corret this problem as soon as possible. Thank You, Loyal Customer J W from Wisconsin

Sign you up, raise the rates

After hours on the phone going back and forth on rates and rebates we finally sign up for 2 years with DirectTV for my wife's elderly parents in another state. Less than 1 month later we receive a letter saying they are raising the rates $2.00/mo. They actually used the same tactic in my condo after the association switched over. Within 1 month of signing up, they raised the rates here too. This appears to be standard practice for DirectTV. Sign em up, then raise the rates after you locked them in. How is this even legal? Avoid them like the plague.

Request for L.A. news in our area

I am pleased with Direct TV however I was very disappointed that we do not have a Los Angeles news available in our area of San Luis Obispo. When I had direct TV several years ago in the San Joaquin Valley we had several L.A. news stations and I got use to watching them and enjoy them very much. I was recently told by a Dish TV user that they now have Channel 5 KTLA from Los Angeles and it seems like Direct TV could also provide some sort of L.A. news???? Kathleen Keller San Luis Obispo, CA.

Mutiple phone calls for credit reinbersement

my account was terminated two days earlier than discussed with a direct TV customer service rep./billing dept. representative without proper notice. that led to a withdrawal out of my bank account for a past due bill and equipment charge that threw my account negative.my direct TV account was terminated on 10/12 and my bank account was charged on 10/17. that is a five day time lapse for direct TV to receive their money. it is now 11/17 and my bank account has still not been credited for the equipment i was charged for that i returned and direct TV received on 10/20. I have made over 30 phone call to direct TV wondering what is taking so long and have gotten a different answer on how processing and procedure works every time.I have badge numbers and i.d. numbers of two out of about forty people that could actually help and explain what was happening. I am on my third 3-5 business day wait after one 7-10 day wait plus a week for good measure. many billing reps.(the only one a customer is allowed to talk to)have told me i would have to wait 6-8 weeks for a refund knowing *** well they were wrong. i would have to hang up, redial and pray i connected with someone not only in the same country, but who actually knew how to do their job. I have burnt up many cell phone minutes getting the run around and wrong answers meanwhile my bank account sits idle because of all the overdrafts that i cannot have reversed until the credit from direct TV reaches my account according to the claims dept. at wellsfargo. I am looking into legal action due to the incompetence and the lack of care to a customer once their account has been terminated(2 days early according to a verbal, recorded for quality assurance purpose, agreent). direct TV received their money in 5 days, why wasn't my account reimbursed within a week of them receiving my equipment in good condition. this letter is for someone in the corporate division of direct TV, not one of the many *** who just go through the motions over the phone. i was told that complaints go to the corporate division which i was not allowed to get ahold of either. a response is in order or at least an explanation as to why i still have not received my credit. my e-mail is chrislanerd@***.com or cell# is 763-744-****. i would like a response sooner than 5-7 business days. date:11/17/2010

I paid a directtv bill online for a relative using my debit card. (just helping them out).

Well this person cancelled their directtv account soon after and didnt get their equipment back in the aloted time. So directtv debited my account for 394.52!!! and I wasnt even the account holder.

So after hours on the phone talking to countless people and re explaining the story over and over I still havent received my money back. To me thats the same as stealing, I'm not even the account holder and I certainly didnt authorize them to debit my account for one of their customers.

Charges and channels. I can't keep on paying this bill if it goes up again.

You are very expensive and keep going up for long time users. The 150 channels are the only one with HGTV, FOOD, DIY, games, and so many more that are the only ones I watch along with my hometown channels and I have to pay extra for them. I have complained several times and you keep telling me there is nothing you can do. I am a 68 yr. old widow and have to work to pay my bills, it is getting where I am going to have to guit you because my bill is getting close to 100 dollars. Please try to help us oldies out with the expense or give us more choices Thanks

Direct Tv - Into Collection before Statement

Middle of sept. 2010 I canceled my direct service and sent the equipment back (they got it) on 9/18 statement, a final bill of $1 amount due and paid it - 9/25 statement, shows $83.09 credit no payment due - 10/18 statement, $84.09 credit no payment due - 11/18 statement, shows a Programming Adjustment on 11/15 for $244.09 less the credit leaving $160.00 amount due - I recieved this statement on 11/22 so I called, only to find out it went to a collection agency on 11/19 three days before I recieved the statement - I went as far as I could by phone only to find out that they did'nt know why the statements were incomplete, there was no one else to talk to and "the accounting office is just a Big Machine that prints out statements" - I guess the machine opens my envelopes and enters in the data too - what kind of Programming Adjustment for $244.09 could I have recieved with no service and no equipment for 2 months - I'm in collection over a bill I never recieved and all they can say is "thats unfortunate for you" - Is there no one to talk to - How can we stop this company from being a legal bully - Retired Jim with no Christmas this year - Thanks -

You can write a letter to the collection agency and dispute the charges with them. They, within a reasonable amount of time have to show proof of said charges. If it is true about Direct TV not having complete statements as to the charges, the collection agency will have to stop attempting to collect.

Write to your state's attorney general and tell them your story. They'll kick Directv's butt.

DirTV

DirTV furnishes you with a remote control. I could not remove the batteries from the remote. I thought the remote was defective. They said the warranty expired on the remote. I said it was defective and since batteries do not have to be replaced more than every six months or once a year, there would be no way I would know the remote was defective. The representative said in any case, I would have to pay $15 dollars for a new remote. I asked to speak to the supervisor; I waited 15 minutes and hung up because I decided to call the representative who signed me up for DirTV. He said the remotes have a problem with removing batteries. He told me I could come in and he would show me how to remove the batteries. He also said he and other representatives have told the company to fix the problem with a new design for the remote but received negative response. He also said everybody calls to complain about this problem. I had to have my oil changed today so I took the remote with me and my mechanic tried different ways to get the batteries out and found a solution. Does DirTV know that we have gone to the moon but they cannot make a remote control with simple battery removal.

Overcharges, lies and undisclosed increase in contract period

Duped by DirecTV. I took their NFL package which first appeared on my September 2010 bill. I was told I would pay that rate until the March 2011 bill. I wrote it down so I would know when to expect a change. Now they insist it was a 5-mo package which would at least take me through January, right? Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan is 5 mos, yes? No, they bumped my bill up for January after only 4 payments. On top of that, when I had an additional box installed in October, they started a new contract date without telling me. My 2 yr committment set to end in June now runs to October. Subscribers will one day see a class-action suit when DirecTV being ordered to pay back all these overcharges.

Matter of fact, there is a class-action lawsuit! Usually I don't support those, but this is one company that deserves it.

The lawsuit is identical to the debacle you (and I) face. Down with DirecTV!

Direct TV bait and switch

Direct TV is hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a company! They tell you one price then they add on a bunch of fees. After you sign an agreement with your final price, your first bill will be double. They will claim they haven't processed your rebate yet because you didn't complete it 6 weeks before requesting your service. I literally called the day after installation to cancel, and was threatened with a $450 early cancellation fee! For one day of having the service! They will try to do anything they can to keep you in service even if it means hanging up on you so you have to keep calling back. Don't give up....don't let these people threaten you! I think it is a disgrace that they can talk about their "excellent customer service" on their site. Even if the people were nice (which 80% of them are not!) every policy Direct TV has seems to be aimed at seeing how much extra money they can try to trick and threaten you into paying. Not customer friendly at all!

Smart Circle and Direct TV

I got a better TV today and came home and tried to hook my direct tv equipment up to it. I thought nothing of it because with Comcast I could do it myself with no problem. Of course when I tried to turn it on it said it was searching for the signal. I called the number (through Best Buy) thinking again, like cable, it could reset. I spoke with someone named Chris who informed me that I will now have to have a service call for which I will be charged because I "moved the equipment." I am absolutely irate about this. I do not recall ANYONE ever telling me this. Yes, I paid more for Comcast, but they didn't have these hidden service fees not to mention the aggravation of the whole thing. I DO have a service call schduled for Saturday and I feel I should NOT have to pay for this. Unfortunately I just started with direct tv but the minute the contract is up I WILL go back to cable where I won't have these issues again. Extreme inconvenience and hidden fees. Never again.

You're dumb. When you sign an agreement, read it.

There are no hidden fees. They're on the contract you signed. You inconvenienced yourself.

Learn how to read instead of complaining on the internet about a company that didn't cause your issues to begin with. The issue is you.

I can't believe that Costco and Direct TV (2 reputable companies) have anything to do with a company like Smart Circle. They are by far the worst company and group of people I have ever dealt with in my entire 58 years on this planet.

And the kicker is they know it, as I dare you to try and find out who they are, where they're from and who is responsible for the terrible service you get. I have emails from people using Costco, Direct TV and Advanced Communications in their salutations. Ask someone on the phone and you will NEVER get them to say they are from Smart Circle or tell you who is ultimately responsible for the inferior service and customer care.

Shame on you DTV and Costco for involving yourself with such a disreputable entity. Shame!!!

ur a dumd *** u think you pay an electricain to put in an outlet in your bed room than you can just move it to another room daaa

Guest

You guys are a bunch of idiots. If you do your research and actually listen to what is said to you when the sales rep sold it to you, you would know what to expect. Also, if you do your research, Directv surpasses any tv service provider out there.

Guest

Like clock work every six months they raised the price. After I complaned they would lower the price a bit.

For those that did not complane=more money=more money=more money. I am no longer a direct tv customer and am much happier not having to deal with their BS.

***CONSUMER WARNING: Trust me, stay clear of doing business with DirecTV and Samrt Circle. I was sold a package at CostCo which was to include $180 CostCo Gift card, Free NFL Ticket; Free euipment and Install: 1-HD DVR, 1-HD Rcvr, 1-Stnd Rcvr.

First, they scheduled me to arrive between 8a-12p and showed up at 2:30, they wanted to charge me an extra $75 to add a second Stnd Rcvr, then the Tech walked off the job and went to the next appointment. RUDE! A Smart Circle Supv called back, we worked outa solution, and agreed to give it another shot - BIG MISTAKE! They wanted to charge me $60 for connecting a samll WIFI box to my DSL Router via one simple cable.

$60 dollars for something that takes 10 seconds to connect!

It's a bad deal for all consumers! :(

Added unauthorized charges to my bill

Direct TV added a $5.99 per month protection plan without my authorization. Also they did not clearly explain that I had to go on line and register rebates, resulting in $20 overcharges for my first three bills. They did agree to remove the $5.99 when I called and instructed me how to go on line , set up my account, then apply for the rebate. They advertise over 200 channels, but a large number of these are duplicate, or strictly promotionals for products I have no interest in. The list of free movies seems to be the same movies over and over again.

I am sick and tired of watching reruns on the game show ond on the 278-280 channel I would like to see whose ever is in chared fired, if then can not do there job, and now they want me to write a less 100 words, I could go on and on about how bad they run there co. If I could not do a better job I would not have to be fire i would not take the co. money, and I would leave the co.I am thinking about canceling and going to dish network how about that.

No Service Due to Snow

My satellite dish is covered with snow and has not gotten a signal for over 24 hours. I called Direct TV and they said that they do not send service techs out in the snow. Why even offer a product like that in a snow region if you can not service the thing. My two choices are to climb on my roof and clean the snow off my dish or wait until the snow melts. They will not give me a credit for days without service because I have a DVR and can still watched my taped shows. I wish they had been upfront with me when I signed the contract instead of telling me that they have the best equipment that rarely is affected by weather. This is only the first snow of the season so I am expecting a long winter without tv.

You could always contact the Better Business Bureau.

Direct TV also charges you a cancellation fee should you choose to cancel due to lack of signal due to weather.

I have not had any signal for days due to snow and they told me they do not send service techs out in the snow.

What is the point of paying for service that I do not have? They are a horrible company and I will be letting everyone I know not to sign a contract with them.

Guest

You should have read the contract before you signed it. If you want to cancel and don't want to pay the fee right away, make sure you close your credit card account first because they are going to charge it right after you cancel.

They can also charge your debit card and bank account too. Watch out!
