I had called set up service with rep name Joe. Got everything checked out credit everything good all required for me to hold dollar on card ok. Could not find had to call back meanwhile im calling back had a couple of questions had to ask but one of question was does direct tv take prepaid debit cards was told yes ok find my card call give rep my card number not going threw cause its a prepaid card even though was told it would be ok called back 2nd rep tried my card again same thing put me on hold ask his supervisor what can he do he told if I have a close friend or relative that let me hold the dollar on their card my mother did had her on three way so the rep knew it was my mother's card ok he gives me my id number everything date set for tech to come I call check the balance on my card my card is telling direct tv charged the dollar both times so I called questioning it with rep told her I had my mother use her card for the dollar hold she asked if I was on my mother's account I told her no why would I be on my mother's account she goes on to tell me that she has to cancel the account cause im not on my mother's account I tell her no she will ask to speak with supervisor.he gets on the phone saying the same thing if I could not use my mother's card why wasn't I told that the first rep I talked to when giving my card number is the one who said I could do it I had to call my mother to see if she would do it for me had to talk to a different rep you don't get the same one on three way I told him it's my mother's card he took her number gave me my information Id number Tuesday was my appt date for tech I even called back to make sure direct tv is not going to charge my mother's card everu month for my bill and still wasn't told I even asked if I can pay my bill every month with my prepaid card even though it would not hold the dollar was told yes then hear the balance on my card called direct question about if your system was saying it was a prepaid card how is it it my card is saying you did charge I was told cause you ranned it then other BS I was told by supervisor that y'all record calls good he said he will listen to them I asked him to please do so you will all so her me clearly state I had my mother on three way call I said it's my mother I think that this is utterly BS I should have been told and the thing about my card is ***

Directv in Tampa, Florida - This is the worst experience I have ever had!

I live in Tampa Florida(where it rains every day) and every single time it rains we lose our service. I have spent so many hours invested in a movie only to have the service go out and miss the end. My time is valuable and if this company doesn't recognize that then they are not for me. How can they market to this region knowing that they are not able to meet the needs of the customers. It's just irresponsible! I have called customer service way more than 19 times in 9 months and do you know what they say to me? YOU CAN WRITE A LETTER to and address with your complaint. I asked repeatedly if they had a customer review option on their site and they said NO, you can write a letter... Seriously, how are they getting away with this? I have never encountered a company so irresponsible in the industry. This is my warning to anyone thinking about getting Direct TV, DON'T DO IT! I used to have Verizon, which cost more but they are a mazing! Never a problem in 4 years and socially responsible. I'm going back.

Directv - Unilateral contract renewal and demanding a $300 penalty or cancellation fee for canceling service

After being a Direct TV customer for about 5 years, I requested to replace one of three receivers in my house with a DVR. They sent me the DVR and I promptly returned the access card that was inside the earlier receiver. I cannot recall agreeing to a renewal of a contract neither can I remember that they offered to charge me a discounted rate in lieu of a renewal of the contract. This was in March 2014. This month (September 2014), I cancelled the service as I was not happy with their programming. I was informed over the phone, that I will be charged a $300 fee for early termination. I disputed it immediately. So it appears that they UNILATERALLY imposed this condition on me when I requested a DVR. I have been paying a rental fee every month for the DVR so I do not need to agree to renew a contract. Legally, one cannot have a valid contract unless both parties to the contract provide some consideration. Our bargain was simple: I requested a DVR for use, and agree to pay a monthly rental. I know some people agree to buy it at $199 and not pay the rental. But I agreed to pay the rental. There was no other consideration and there was no other bargain.

Direct TV I signed up for new service on sep 27 2014 they kept me on phone 6 hours 15 different reps told me all's I needed to use is a visa debit didn't matter as to what card told me any visa logo card would work took my money and still don't have a account or a service date now I have to wait tell Oct 6th to wait for my 27.15 tax charge to be refunded name is Christopher shotmiller contact 239 344 6161 what a run around

Directv in Berkeley, Illinois - Remove dish

I'm moving and taking direct tv with me and @ my old address direct tv will not remove the old dish. So know my old landlord is going to charge me a fee for removing the old dish of $295.00. This is very dumb that they do not come remove the dish when you u still a customer. They should do that to show appreciation to there continuous customer. Directv - Making me pay large amounts of money because I cancelled their service

I called on 8/28/14 to cancel service. I was told that because they bill a month in advance I was paid up til Sept. 25. I agreed to keep service til that point since I was told it was paid anyway. On Sept. 22 I received a bill that was almost twice the amount I usually owe. After calling them I was told that I was only paid up til Aug. 29 and since I wasn't having my service terminated til the 25th I owed them money. They never came up with satisfactory answer for why I apparently owe them almost double than what I usually pay. Because of problems I've had with them in the past I wrote down everything including the name of the person I talked too. It hasn't done me any good. I don't know what to do. I canceled because I could no longer afford them. Now I have an even bigger bill to pay.

I switched internet provider and the Direct TV equipment didn't connect to the internet any more. I don't watch live TV. I either record the programs I want to see or watch TV on Demand. Because of the problem I had I couldn't watch onDemand (Direct TV on Demand works only through internet) and I couldn't use my smart TV features). Also the direct TV couldn't see my home network, so my two TVs were not connected and I couldn't watch my recorded programs in my bedroom. The technicians came to my place trying to solve this problem five times (one time the tech didn't show up, so I actually was taking time off six times). First time tech spent 4 hours in my appt., the next visits were about from 1 to 2 hours. Nobody could fix it. I called direct TV to cancel, I spent long time on the phone with the representative and finally he told me that because it's not my fault he will wave the cancellation fee of $235. Also I was told that my credit card will not be charged after the cancellation and I will receive the bill. They did charge my card twice in one month without informing me about it, and they did charge the cancellation fee. I was trying to resolve this problem with them, but this is absolutely useless. Their representatives located over seas and they repeat the same phrase over and over again, don't even hear what I am saying. I spent so much time with them on the phone and so much time with the technicians in my apt, that I am feeling sick just thinking abut calling them again. I have a feeling that representatives trained to say anything just to make us feel OK and just leave them alone. They have a recordings of the conversations, which never was used in any dispute. Why do they have them? All their representatives located in the Philippines, it is useless to talk to them, they don't hear you and just repeat the same phrase over and over. When you ask them to transfer you to american representative they just hang up on you. WHILE I LIVE IN AMERICA I WANT TO TALK TO AMERICAN REPRESENTATIVE!!!!! I feel like I don't want to have any TV or internet services, because I don't want to deal with the companies who don't give a *** about their customers and the only goal they have - to RIP US OFF.

Directv in Toms River, New Jersey - Had direct tv for 13 days.

Had it for 13 days and called to cancel was not happy with service,i was told we have 30 days to cancel.and they told me only 24 hours to cancel or i will be slapped with a 400 dollar cancelation fee that has to be paid all at once or they will take it out of my acct. I spoke with a manager and he gave me the run around and was very rude. i made a complaint with the BBB today. I do not know what else to do.I work partime and my husband is on disability.

We had Direct TV less than seven (7) days and have been extremely disappointed. Our AT&T never worked properly and we did have issues with the tv service.

Two days ago, we cancel AT&T. Today I called to cancel the tv service and was told we would have to pay $460.00 early termination fee when we thought we had 30 days. This is ridiculous.

What a rip-off. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau on Monday morning.

Complain to http://www.fcc.gov/complaints. I had very good results with them both times I made a complaints.
