I downloaded the program with payment, most channels dont come in, and when they do, its bad viewing

i paid 30 dollars for a direct tv program on the internet. hardly any shows come in, plus when they do, they stop and reload. i dont understand. i have a great operating system, windows 7. i want my money back and fast. i will stop payment of sort, if i can. it is called satelite direct. i realize now what a mistake it was to purchase the program last night. i purchased the program on the evening of august 9, 2010. the program itself does not have helpful hints on how to get the program to run better. i dont know what to do.

Directv lied about total price

After going back and forth, dtv offered us our same package but with new receiver at the same price. they lied. our first bill was a lot higher. then they refused to cancel our subscription. they are liars. horrible liars. when we made the deal, it was for a simple package that we had for years. however, we needed a new receiver as ours was very old and worn out. we are on a fixed budget. if they couldnt comply with our terms, we were going to call Dish or cable. they promised us the same deal with no increase in payment, THEY LIED. said we could cancel for 200.00.

Wow direct is the #1 thief

they advertise falls info and they are thief's. they send me all the contract after they installed the cable. and their customer service will talk sweet at first than after u r in . the catch begins. you cant cancel you r service for 24 months . and there is a fee of 400 and up for your cancellation . i called customer service 10 time and all of them give different info. and also they hit u with some rebet stuff you have fill out to get the discounted price. and that wont take in affect for 2 months . so you would end up paying the regular price for the first 2 months and and it would change after 12 months to regular again. plz rethink before u go direct tv.

Satelite DIrect TV is A scam !

Satellite direct tv is a complete scam, read the disclaimer, they wont reimburse you when you find out the product doesn't work on a mac or in Canada :( all they do is email you and say too bad. I tried working with the tech named Kathy Gibbons and she attempted to fix it a few times but nothing worked and it just took me back to the same screen over and over. DO not purchase this it is a waste of money and very frustrating.legally they don't have to give you your money back and they wont. sad!

Bait & Switch

Offered a 2 discounts - the second discount need to come from a different group. After I signed up for a 2 year commitment to receive 1/2 the discount the 2nd group told me the 1st individual did not have the authority to offer the 2nd discount. I suspect that this is a corproate strategy and suggest others be ware. Thus is my view this is a dishonest organization and I look forward to ending my relationship with them I would caution all considering doing business with Direct TV to be aware that, in my view, the company has a strategy to be dishonest. I tried to change my package with them on 4 occasions and was disconnected an the 1st three attemps.

Hung up on me when i inquired about a bill

I had to cancel my direct tv account and received my final bill already charged to my account - I called and spoke to customer service. they agreed that I was erroneously charged for early cancellation and credited my charge account for the 100 dollar fee. When I inquired about other billed items on my final bill the service agent could not communicate what these billed items were and she told me that she had credited my account for the early cancellation fee and that was all she would credit me for and hung up on me.She acted like I should be grateful for her credit for the bogus charge and she could not be bothered to explain the additional charges to my account.I was not rude abusive or in any way unreasonable and she hung up on me!!! I WILL PURSUE THE CHARGES TO MY CREDIT CARD AS AS FAR AS I HAVE TO AND I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS AWARE OF HOW SHODDY THE " CUSTOMER SERVICE " department treats people inquiring about their charges.

DIRECT TV A RIP OFF

Direct TV is a RIP OFF. I've had the service for over 3 years paid on time. But due to the price and service (always cutting off), I decided to cancel. WHAT A MISTAKE. almost two months after cancelling the service, without my knowlwdge debited my account $300.00. When I called, they said that they had every right to do so. I disputed the charge with my bank.. but now they are saying that i owed them for various services and converter boxes. I am definately informing the BBB of the less than medicore service... they really suck!!!

Direct TV Scam - No mention of 2-yr contract

Direct TV's advertising has in the FINE print on the BACK side of their flyers that the equipment lease term is for 2 years. However, they do not mention this to you on the phone AT ALL. I have a 1-year lease at my new house. I would never, never sign up for a 2-year TV contract. In fact, I wouldn't sign up for a 1-year contract either. But they slipped in this contract, which the installers brought to my house with them to have me sign, without any explanation. The contract reads "Lease Agreement", not "2-Year Lease Agreement", conveniently... and DECEPTIVELY. It was pouring down rain, windy and cold on the day of my installation. The installers were dripping in my doorway, so I didn't want to keep them any longer. I assumed the business of pricing negotiations and terms was already handled when I paid for my service subscription on the phone in advance of the install. The installers did not bother to explain the paperwork they asked me to sign. And I didn't bother to take the 30 minutes it would have required me to read it. I had already spent that 30 minutes and more on the phone doing precisely that when I paid for service. Furthermore, I did believe I was leasing the equipment. But not for two years. Most cable/satellite TV companies make you "lease" their equipment month-to-month, without penalty of cancellation, as long as you return the equipment when you're finished with your service. So, when I read the title of the paperwork I signed, I assumed that's what it meant. I just wanted to get these dripping wet guys out of the cold rain and out of my doorway. When I couldn't view my picture on my entire TV screen, I called DTV customer service for help. I called at least 3 times a week for the first two weeks of my service, without any knowledge of a contract. When they, and I, finally figured out that they couldn't make their service work with my TV, I informed them I wanted to cancel my service. That's when they informed me I had a 2-year contract! I was shocked! But even more shocked at their cancellation fee of $480! "For what?", I thought. Here DTV's service had cost ME money for two weeks with all my time and energy in phone calls to their service department... all the while I didn't even get to use their service in the way I had paid to do because I couldn't get a full picture on my TV!! I explained to them that MOST cable/satellite tv providers offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and that I had only had service (OR LACK THEREOF) for 2 weeks. They told me they don't have a guarantee for their service! It is now obvious to me that Direct TV prefers to keep you in a 2-year contract even if you are an UNHAPPY CUSTOMER WHO CAN'T VIEW THEIR SERVICE in the first place!!! Preposterous! Of course, this was all planned in advance by Direct TV. If they had wanted consumers to know about the 2-year contract, they would put it on the front of their advertisements to make it obvious and CLEAR to consumers... and to PREVENT these nasty situations in the first place. Does Direct TV really profit more from getting our cancellation fees than our potential "good customer service" reviews and thus longer-term profits in the end??? Direct TV, don't you know that customers are loyal, if you're up-front and honest with them! It's when you try to fraud them into 2-year contracts that they leave anyway and tell the world exactly how you pissed the off! Customer Service 101 taught us all that. Yes, I sent them a 3-page letter, which, of course, they never responded to... but that's just "par-for-the-course" customer service from Direct TV. Instead, they did as they've done to so many other NOW FORMER CUSTOMERS and charged the credit card I had on file... WITHOUT FIRST SENDING ME AN INVOICE FOR THE $480 CANCELLATION FEE. Isn't that illegal? Aren't any lawyers interested in doing a class-action lawsuit on these swines??? Good thing American Express is a GREAT COMPANY and credited me that cancellation fee right back immediately with NO questions asked! Perhaps they've been through this before with Direct TV.... Hmmmm.... Makes you wonder! Now I have to find out what's going to happen to my credit when I ignore their collection agency letters. I would attempt to communicate with Direct TV again, but I've tried that. I get no response. How surprising. I guess the only thing left to do is to go to the media with all of our stories. I'm game.

Same here we moved to Alaska and our property owner would not let us install a satelite. I like the tv service itself and would of kept it.

They billed my cc without my knowledge or consent for 370.00 which caused me to have 6 overdraft fees from my bank.

Now they say I didnt mail them my receiver and remote and are charging me another 120.00. I mailed it two weeks ago.If you get direct tv do not pay with a credit/debt card.

Guest

Try an online complaint with the BBB (it is free) this happened to me too. here is what I did: I filed an online complaint with BBB one against Direct and one against American Express for accepting charges after I had asked them not to.

I called American Express disputed the charges and the charges were reversed. I cancelled my credit card but I have read since then that you can call and report the card lost or stolen and get a new # and this may work. The BBB Emailed me a copy of the letter from American Express and it said they gave Direct a certain length of time to respond and the charges would be reapplied because I had given Direct my number even though Direct told me the number was for identification purposes only and would never be used. So Don't trust American Express!!

they are sympathetic to Direct TV and send out Direct TV flyers with their statements. I had been a good customer with American Express for years never late, always paid more than minimum.

Direct TV withdrew $500 from my bank account without informing me first, three months ago. Iv been on the phone ever since being passed around like a rag doll.

If it wasnt for my tax returns I would have been kicked out of my apartment and homless with a baby. Still have not seen my money, Im getting a lawyer.

But its unreal how it's not illeagal, your right, and why these issues dont get more attention is beyond me. Probably because the people they do this to feel like its normal or that its just one more case of bad service, which is also very disturbing to me.

Direct TV Dropping Channels

I had Dish Network and all was well. We live in a heavily treed area and in the spring a large tree about three blocks away caused our dish to not be able to be sighted to satellite. Tech tried with no luck. We switched to Direct TV and were happy with picture and service. Several months after we got the service, and a 24 month contract, Direct TV dropped VERSUS Network. They said they were getting ripped off and would not pay the high prices demanded by VERSUS. ALL Of their competitors still offer VERSUS as part of their packages. Direct TV forced me to take a higher package just to get VERSUS and then dropped it. When I called the first times, they said negotiations were in progress and they should offer VERSUS soon. No such luck. When I called about dropping the Direct TV service, they want a $260 penalty for dropping them. I told them I was very happy overall with the service, but the lack of VERSUS which I watched the most, was not acceptable. The Rep was very obnoxious and very surly. He told me that they had lost 1.5 million customers over the VERSUS deal, and would not offer any relief for early termination. If they change your package, you should be able to change or drop your service without penalty. I would gladly pay for VERSUS if I didn't have to pay for all of the *** channels that go into a package that no one watches. I have filed a complaint with the AG's office and we'll see what happens.

My son is really upset about you dropping all of his 25 favorite channels. Please put them back, or leave them there. I will have to drop you if you do not.

Guest

Direct TV is now talking about dropping more channels. I am not psychic but even I can predict that with these SFB decisions they will NOT be in business long.

They really need to extract their heads to get some fresh O2 to their brains so that they can figure out the reality of the repercussions of their decisions. Each time they drop a channel they lose customers.

DO THE MATH!!! :(

Guest

they cannot legally do this, they obviously think their customers are ***. We have legal contracts, they are breaking those contracts!

I have already written our State's office. You cannot change up a contract half way through and expect the customer to just suck it up.

not only that but my contact is up and they want the full $260.00 to cancel even my cell phone company prorates. I am dropping my service today.

Guest

we too will be forced to check out other options for our television viewing. We are avid followers of SOA, as well as Justified, and were shocked to hear about FX being dropped. I have been checking out other providers in my area, and will be placing a call if Direct TV does indeed make these changes on Nov.1.

Guest

To everyone who think dish has SOA it was dropped Oct 1st

Guest

I say we all call Direct tv on November 1 and cancel our subscription or at least complain and tell them it's in regards to their greedy business practices. The more people that pressure the better our chances to get fox back. About 10 of my friends that have Direct Tv and I are going to Drop them if this issue isn't resolved quickly!!

i think everbody should move over to dish network they are lot cheaper direct tv are the the biggest crooks in the satlite service :roll

DirecTV Fraud and Theft from Military Families.

My husband ordered the service and they never informed him that we were signing up for an 18-24 month commitment and told him we could cancel anytime. We stopped using them because the basic channels we were getting were rubbish and the movie channels played the same movies all month long. We left with a final bill of $89.97 and that was in August. It's now six months later and the bill is now up to $656.31 including $420.00 for not fulfilling our contract and it continued to rise until the contract is complete. I just spoke with DirecTV and they claim that even though my husband was not informed of this contract, once the installer brought the equipment and signed off on the work, that was our contract. They were rude and are falsely luring people into multi-annually binding contracts without telling them. This is theft at it's lowest level and I would like to be included to testify if criminal charges can be brought against them because they're doing this to all families and especially marketing to military families who often do not stay in one place for the length of the contract! I'm surprised the Marine Corps allows these criminals to operate on our bases, I'm referring to the insurance scams that ultimately led to soliciting being banned on bases.

We signed up for DirecTV in 1998. They had roughly 2 million customers and were a good company then. No contracts that I remember, $29.99 for the good package. We paid $380 for a receiver and dish, and did our own install.

Over the years I’ve seen them deteriorate in every way. The equipment is complicated, customer service is terrible, and the cost has gone up to $90. Plus I can’t even sneeze next to the thing without them extending my contract.

I added an old receiver in a spare room. It was one that I had stored in my basement, and figured I’d put it in my kid’s room. BIG HUGE MISTAKE I later found out!!

I hooked up an over-the-air antenna and quickly realized I could get 95% of what I watch (local television), for free, and in HD.

So I bought a DVR and canceled DirecTV. Figured it would be OK, since my last new receiver was over 2 years old. Well, they charged me $420 early termination on the 2nd receiver. Then immediately charged my credit card. Unknown to me, my contract was renewed on that old spare reciever, even though the CSR specifically told me there was NO contract on this receiver when I added it in September 2010 since it was owned.

I spoke with 5 CSRs before I actually gone one of them who understood that I shouldn’t be under contract. She put a credit on my account. But that takes 8 weeks to be refunded. So they’re holding on to MY money for 2 months!

I hate this company and would suggest nobody subscribe to them if don’t want to be shoved around by corporate bullying.

Hi! My boyfriend and I chose a promotion with Verizon that it contained the three services "for a month trial." The cable service was Directv Verizon as our area was not eligible to Fios.

When hiceron the installation of cable, (the box seemed used), we called Verizon to confirm Directv service for a trial month without a contract (that Verizon offered Directv) and they informed us they are only three diaz. Immediately remove send to services, cable service had just half an hour. In the following diaz where we get a bill that said we had to pay for a movie I never ordered nor manipulabamos cable system to order a movie and it deconectamos immediately. Appeared that he had ordered several times during the day and week.

We called Directv, they passed us to Verizon and Verizon did the same, we move to Directv, the final one of the representatives from Directv talked with me, called me and told me bad tania to pay. Again to send another bill where they charged us more for the same movie, with the dates changed, diaz matching service that we had another cable company. I had no sense what they were doing, like two people are using two different wire services. I went back and call this time were much bad but I would not be back.

I restricted the calls but the bills kept coming with the details of the diaz and hours of the movie different. After calling the copper companies and though the name of my boyfriend, I authorized the account I know by heart to the sun today. I told them all to the first billing company, they left us alone and not as Directv will pass the case to another collection company. This makes three years and are still sending letters, he damaged the credit to my boyfriend.

If anyone knows of a group that lawyers suing the company for fraud please send an e-mail to hon3yx01@***.com. My name is Ruth. Sorry!

if the English translation is bad, use google to translate from Spanish to English. Have a nice day!

Guest

Ted, There was probably nothing to sign except a work order after the installation had been done and then it just ask for your initials. The installer simply tells you it is to prove the instillation has been done but at the bottom in microfine print is the contract this is a binding contract acording to DTV even though you can't read it nor are you ever told of the content. Even if one knows to ask the reps lie to get you to sign a contract for 2 years.

Guest

TED, I clearly stated that my husband is the one who dealt with them and signed off on the work, so maybe you want to go after him while he's currently serving in Afghanistan. Though you claim you were in the service it doesn't give you the right to bully spouses. And since you have nothing but time on your hands maybe you could get them on a dictionary.

Guest

I guess you never read what you where signing did you .. I am retied USN How can if you are/where in the service not read what you are siging!?!?!?!??

YOU SOUND lIKE A TROLL !

! !

Guest

This is where we want you to respond to with your complaint. We are filing a law suite against them.

We need all of the public to support that has had a bad experience with Direct Tv Home Services. As soon as possible, we are going public with all of their corruption real soon.

Don't forget: fightdirecttv@***.com

Guest

I signed up for DTV's mover connection and had to sign a 24 month contract for a DVR. I didn't know I had to sign a contract until after they had my service already hooked up.

I cancelled the premium package as soon as the promo waws over. btw, they bill u for the first month of svc for the so-called "free" HBO, Showtime, Starz.

Hidden cancellation fee

I am totally dissatisfied with DIRECT TV service. Satellite constantly goes out. Have to pay extra to get ON DEMAND which is included in cable prices . They misrepresented there services and contract obligations. They stated they bundle services similar to cable providing phone, cable and TV . That was incorrect. They do not bundle a separate company was sent with an additional bill. And to top it off they have you locked in for 24months or you pay a cancellation fee of 480.00. I do not recommend this service and iwish I could return to cox cable .Cox prices equaled thier quality of service

DirectTV calls

I continually get calls from Direct TV to sign up. I have asked repeatedly to be take us off the call list. Today I have already received 2 calls and it not even noon. The second girl was very rude when I talked to her. I, again, asked her how I can get off their call list. All I got was that I was asking in the wrong way. She never asked my name or my phone no. and just hand up on me so I know I wasn't taken off their list again. How can I stop this harassment calls? Is their any agency I can report them too?

Direct TV won't admit to mistake and refund money

In February I called to complain about Pay Per View/Adult movie charges on my bill. I requested a complete block, wich means no one in the household can order these services. DTV did not follow through with placing the block. Four months later the ordering and charges continue. I know who in my household is ordering and why.. I dont need DTV to tell me why it's happening. I needed DTV to place the retrictive block like they said. Now they dont want to reimburse me for the charges almost $600. This is DTV oversight not mine. Not right at all

DirecTV Free Infomercials

Dear DirecTV: Although I don't have TV myself, I enjoy watching several of the programs that are exclusives of yours while sitting at my local watering hole. But the owner neglected to pay the bill this month, so you promptly cut off her service. Well, not exactly. I was surprised to find that you cut off only the worthwhile channels, but not the hundreds upon hundreds of infomercial-only channels. Television programming being what it is these days, it didn't take a lot for me to adjust to the free infomercials that you still deliver to the bar. That brings me to this. Since the infomercials are obviously free, can you hook me up so I can get them at home too? Now my buddy next door has a question for you too. Unlike me, he abhors commercials and avoids them like the plague. He's even installed an auto-mute device on his set that kills the sound when they come on (which is pretty often on broadcast TV). So when I told him that yours are free, he thought for a moment and came up with an idea. He wants to know if you have some kind of "sub-basic" plan that delivers just the actually worthwhile channels but NOT the free infomercials, for less money than your basic and other overpriced plans. He's ready to sign-up. Thanks. Paco Morratto

Right. And what we've learned here is that they CAN, IF they want to, turn the non-infomercial-ONLY channels on and off at will from their end.

So why can't we get a package that excludes the infomercials? We know they can do it.

Maybe it's because they would have to admit they are now delivering only a half-dozen instead of a half-gazillion channels.

Guest

I feel relieved.. I thought for a minute that my friend was a infomercial addict or something.

All her channels were infomercials only, so I feel much better now that I know she just didn't pay the bill. :grin
