Direct TV programming
If you have DTV's basic package and are not religious and are childless or not looking for juicers or food choppers(advertising for which you are paying) then, in my opinion, you are suffering from discrimination on DTV's part because, after removing religious and childrens channels from your viewing choices, you only have about 10 channels available. I would like to examine the possibility of bringing a class action lawsuit based on age and/or religious discrimination against DTV and their parent company, to provide equal program access. Actually after reading these sites, I'm sure there other malfeasences(or some such) that apply here. I hope there is an interested attorney, or someone who knows one, who is willing to help get something like this rolling. Incidentally, I Googled the web for DTV complaints and found: "Results 1 - 10 of about 1,300,000 for direct tv complaints. (0.22 seconds)". Conservatively speaking, that means there are at least 2 million pissed off DTV customers. My Gawd, people! It boggles the mind and nearly surpasseth belief! I'm sure the other cable/satellite, etc. type companies are doing the same so maybe we can get their attention too. Anyway there's no way I can post this on a million websites so if you're with me on this, you can help by posting this on a few of them yourself. Just think, if only one person from half of these 1.3 million websites chipped in a buck we would have $650,000 dollars. I'll bet that would buy some really strong legal assistance. Just food for thought. I'm not asking for money. That would require escrow accounts and other legal things. But who knows what a bunch of angry consumers united can accomplish? If you can help please email: henry-bird@***.com Please type "Interested Attorney" or "I can help" in the Subject line. Please just mail me if you can really help. With permission, I'll post short progress reports on this website if results warrant such. Porter

Direct TV bait and switch
Cable sucks but Direct TV is the most dysfunctional organization on EARTH. Direct TV / bait and switch / completely unorganized / departments have no idea who can do what!!!! 28 year Cable TV customer, tired of the channel sequence and high cost. 9/18/09 signed up for a "Choice Xtra Package" for $34.99 from a flyer I received in the newspaper. Called and spent and hour on the phone making sure I was going to get what I needed. Supposed to get a "free" HD DVR receiver and two extra receivers ($5.00 extra each) with two RF remotes (for the receivers) and was told to pay the installer for. These remotes were so the DVR and receivers could be installed in the same location and distributed with my internal network. Scheduled an install. Activated my rebate on 9/21/09. Unhooked Cable TV Friday 9/25/ 09 in anticipation if Direct TV 9/27/09. Installer gets here about 8:10 am. Immediately says that the RF remotes I ordered do not work with the non-HD receivers he is to install. Upon checking he also had on his work order to install a non-HD DVR. This is just the tip of the Direct TV bad service iceberg. I explained that the salesperson said that the remotes would work from other rooms etc. etc. Called Direct TV-hold for 25 minutes, they said I needed to talk with the installers to correct the problem. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they said they were busy. Talked with the installers, they said that they would go and get the equipment and that they needed and for me to call Direct TV to get any information about any changes in billing. Called Direct TV-hold for 20 minutes, they said that if I wanted to know any changes on the bill that might occur that I needed to talk to the sales department, they forwarded my call, on hold 30 minutes, sales department said that they could not help me and would not connect me to a supervisor. They could not connect me to anyone. Sales department hung up. Called Direct TV-on hold 30 minutes, they said the installer would have to verify with them, the installer was gone, waited for installer to get back. Installer called Direct TV-on hold 30 minutes, (he had my original order canceled and started a new order) set up for the HD DVR and two regular receivers. Installer told me to go to Costco and get programmable remotes and forget about the Direct TV remotes I talked with a Direct TV person and they went through the process of getting all new C.C. information, taking my social and verifying my credit, etc. etc. to make a new order so the installers could proceed today. They then informed me that my bill would go up $15 per month because the HD DVR was free but not the service for $34.99, (extra ten dollars) something that the salespeople never mentioned, plus some other charges never mentioned. They said that I needed to activate my rebate online before the install or it would not happen. We waited together to get online to my account and activate my rebate but it did not happen. I was told they were going to send me to a department that would activate my rebate over the phone. 35 minutes on hold, Nancy said she could help me as they could not activate the rebate. By this time the installer was working on the project making holes in my house. I was told that since I could not activate the rebate before the install I would have to pay $80.99 for the first two months or until the rebate was activated. I was then sent to a department and spoke with yet another dis-interested employee who would not put me through to a supervisor. After all of this I it was evident that I was taking a big chance on going with Direct TV, I had no idea what they might decide to charge me or what may happen. I knew for sure that if I called with a problem I would be shuffled around and around. I canceled everything. Over 4 wasted hours on the phone over two days with people who either were ill informed or purposely deceiving. My only day off this week. Here I am on Sunday, no TV, asked to pay more for direct TV than I originally paid for Cable and $36 more per month than the $45.99 Choice Extra offer I was quoted on 9/18/09. 5213**** / 5214**** Order 12944**** / 12967****.

Unable to get rebates that were promised
We have been trying to get our rebate since 12/29/09. We are referred to one place, then another. First, we got " sorry, systems error or permission denied -illegal parameter. Then we got invalid e mail address, then we got we are not even eligible for the rebates. WHY? The email system is horrible. I have been working on this for almost three weeks. I have been on the computer every day, called direct tv every other day trying to fix this problem and get the twenty-six dollar ($26.00) rebate. Does any one actually get the rebate?

I ended my service with Direct TV, I have always paid my bills on time and never been late. Direct TV went into my checking account using both my credit card and checking information without my consent and withdrew funds. It was not the withdrawl that upsets me it is the fact they used my personal information without my consent that makes me mad as ***. Who do they think they are. Not to mention the horrible service I recieved which is why I left. But it was not as if it was $100's of dollars owed it was $21.21, yet they can do what ever they want violate my privacy rights.

Beware of Direct TV Customer Service
In December 2008, we decided to try Direct TV again. BIG MISTAKE! We instructed Hector that w wanted NO extras and NO automated payments. We received in return problem after problem with the billings. Of course the first bill did not come until over 30 days after making the initial call...(too late for right to recession!)...first up was a price other than agreed to, then a protection plan we didn't want, customer service calls that said a credit would show on next billing and no credits received. The VISA gift card was a big JOKE! Nothing was received for our trouble of making sure everything was mailed as instructed, no phone numbers for this to be checked on either...No booklet was received about the 18 month contract and now we are stuck until next June with their equipment and lousy programming at a ridiculous price!

Unauthorized extension of contract period from due to HDTV box order
Like the other consumer, I was not advised of the extension of contract period form 18 months to 24 months until I called to cancel my service that I found out my HD programming added 6 more months in my contract. Now I called to cancel, they told me that an email confirmation will be sent to my email address on record, I do not have one. They refused to give me a cancellation comfirmation number. I really dont trust them in that regard. Are they going to play dirty trick on me again? I hope cosumer affair investigate the Direct TV's practice or class action should be initiated against bate and switch practice. Shame on you Direct TV!!

Direct TV is at it again
I was about to contact direct TV when I discovered this web site. For the last 4 days I have been trying to make some sort of deal with direct TV to upgrade my service without braking the Bank account. I want to get a HD TV hook up and need a new receiver and they want to charge me 200.00 dollars plus. Now they are having a new hook up deal were you can get the same 200.00 receiver 5 months free all movie channels free hook up for new customers. What about old customers who are loyal. Give us a little deal please. By the time I'm done this will cost me a fortune.

Directed tv sucks
They have the worst customer service of anyone I know. They are not helpful at all, just transfer you around. I have been trying to get a refund since August. But still after make 5 phone calls, no one knows why I haven't been issued a refund check, again I am told to call the billing department. Then I am put on hold for 15 minutes, talk to someone, am cut off, call back and try to get the same person and that person is on the phone with someone else so I have to start my story all over again...they suck!

Add in Sunday Supliment
In Sunday Det. Free Press add you have NCIS actors pointing a gun at a man's head. With all the gun crime, this add is in VERY bad taste and appalling. Think before you place this kind on picture in an add. Direct tv, Direct killings. This is really not appropriate in America. There is enough violence as it is, do not add to it in your add for entertainmet. Young children see this kind of advertisement and think that it is okay to point guns at other's heads and kill them. You should never place this picture in any add for your service. Stop and think what you are doing to our nation!!!.

DirecTV deceptively caused me to sign a two-year contract
If you like lots of repetitive, irrelevant, and disruptive commercials; programming with gratuitous violence and/or offensive sexual content; gossipy entertainment shows; polarizing so-called news shows; manipulative and controlling customer service agents; high prices; deceptive long-term contracts; installers who want to make sure everyone sees their ugly "Diwreck" TV satellite dish in front of your house; expensive monthly bills; a slow receiver box; periodic and dramatic price increases (after an initial lower introductory offer); then "DiwreckTV" is for you. If after all this, you still want to go with them, be sure to ask for the contract right away on arrival of the installer, or better still get it before hand (if possible). Read and understand every word before you let the installer do anything (i.e., do you really want a two-year binding contract?). Watch every move the installer makes (discuss the installation with him before hand, and don't be pressured into an installation you're not happy with -- no matter what). If you're okay going through such a nightmare just getting DiwreckTV setup, then you'll love what happens when you try to cancel your service. It might be better to just head down to your local pizza parlor and watch some TV there. Stay away from DiwreckTV: If you don't changes are you'll get worthless, time-wasting, commercial laden, programming; questionable installation; high prices, and terrible consumer service. There are only two kinds of DiwreckTV customers -- those who have been burned and those who will get burned. If you don't believe this then check out this link: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/cable_tv/directv.htm Bottom line "” stay away!

DIRECTV thank us for being a loyal customer and then changed our grandfathered package. Too many shopping channels and so many commercials on the few channels worth watching - they suck!
Both direct tv and dishnetwork make tons of money and will not scold the channel providers of excessive ads and *** promos. What a bunch of bs this is; welcome to monopolistic proacites and corporate america.
I feel you, pay more than what they told me it would be yet they gave me a *** service with bad signal and never sent anybody when I called them to fix it.
However, they have the guts to charge me extra for no reason at all... maybe I have to pay for the *** service they give, which makes no sense.
