Direct TV

I signed up for $29.99 and taxes for 150 channels, I insisted that the representative makes sure of his offer because I did not want any surprises in my bills. My bills started coming at $34.99 and taxes. When I tried to explain it to them, they thought I was trying to be smart and get a lower price. I had the confirmation number and the name of the agent, but they didn't care. Now the reception on most of the channels I watch is really bad, I called customer service, and they said a technician has to come out and there will be a one time fee of $79.99 or I can choose to pay $29 at first and 5.99 for 6 months. So I guess I'm gonna have to be paying a higher amount than I was offered, and not able to enjoy my shows for 18 months...

DirecTV stole money from me.

On 03/12/08 I returned 5 receiver boxes to DirecTV after I moved and canceled service with the company. Two weeks later (03/28/08) I was billed for these receiver boxes erroneously ($272.22). I immediately called to figure the situation out, and was told by the first representative that I would be credited within 24-48 hours for my unnecessary charges. I asked this representative how their company could still bill me after I clearly returned the items, and the woman said, "Well, the departments are in different areas, and don't communicate." ?????? Ridiculous. I then waited 48 hours and called back when no refund was posted. The next representative I spoke with told me that it would in fact take 10-14 business days, clearly a different timeframe, was very rude, and no matter how much I asked to speak with the "finance dept." I could not speak with them, and even the management would not let me speak with them, nothing was changing. I asked how I was supposed to believe that this was a true timeframe, since the first was different. They assured me everything would be fine. This morning makes 14 days. Surprise, no money refunded. I called only to be told ONCE AGAIN by representatives that the time frame is actually 6-8 weeks, although my charges were made by mistake!!!! I immediately requested the management, I spoke with Yesenia, who has now assured me that she is working to make this refund happen within eight business days from today. ??? I don't know what to believe or who to turn to. I feel as though this is illegal since I have returned the items they charged me for, and they have admitted fault.

point of the story is,,,, *** *** service.

Now my husband has to climb up the roof and take it down himself (hopefully he doesn't fall. :(

Ripping me off

I have been billed an early termination fee by DirecTV for $236.00. A feeI I do not owe. We subscribed to DirecTV service on Aug 31, 2005 with a one year contract. We also subscribed to the NFL Sunday Ticket (football program to view all football games $250.00) I had a DVR receiver box stop working in Oct 2006, so I contacted DirecTV to see what my options were. I had two DVR receivers in my home. One in the master bedroom and one in the family room. I asked the representative if I could get a new DVR. Her reply was "yes", I would be sent a mailing box to return my defective DVR and I would be sent a new one. Before I agreed, I did not want to change my equipment if it meant extending my contract." She said, "that was not the case." I said, "Are you absolutely sure? because I will be changing to the new Verizon Fios service in Dec 2006 after the football games were over." She told me there is no extension of my contract.

Anyone who gets a new receiver or upgraded receiver that will put them under contract is transferred to a third party who restates what the customer service agent has advised the customer. The customer has to agree to the terms verbally over the phone before any order is placed.

they did the same thing to me man... same *** thing.

Direct TV- Lying about special offers, costs and procedures.

I was invited back to Direct TV with a special offer- lots of channels and free movies for $39.99 per month for a year. All I had to do was download the 'form' mail it in and I'd be all set. I spent 3 months making phone calls and sending Emails and no one at Direct TV was able to materialize the form. They even promised to send me one; that never happened. They promised 'credits', but it would take 6-8 weeks minimum to activate them. They are trying to charge me $59.99 per month, and after lots of arguing, I discontinued service. They told me they can raise the price any time they want, and that they're going to bill me for the early disconnect ($3-400). I don't know how hard they'll fight for it, but I'm not planning on being too easy to get along with. I was lucky, and got signed up without giving them a credit card number, or I'd be out $190 plus when it should have been about $120 for the first 3 months. STAY AWAY from these liars!!!

I am paying 110 chops a month just to watch excrement in Australia. Extra $7 each if I want to order new release movies.

Sounds like a good deal you have.

I had Comcast cable and internet and was happy.

One one fine day, the Sales Prom guys from Direct TV called me and spoke about there promos which were sounding soo sweet.

They said I can get the HD Channels (Including HBO, STAR, etc) for one year by paying just 55$.

Then I signed for the same.

Got the connection installed. When I got the first bill it was mentioned that the free HBO, STAR, etc was only for the first 3 months. I felt cheated. When I called up the Customer Service and asked them whts the norm for cancellation, they said I have to pay only the cancellation fee of $15.00.

But now after 4 months when I am requesting for cancellation due to bad satellite signals, they say that I have to pay the early cancellation fee of $400.00. This is rediculous. Also when i contacted the technical support saying the TV is not picking up the satellite signals, they are telling that I need to sign a protection plan by paying an amount for their technicians to come and fix the issue. I feel cheated again. They have given me a service which is not working now and when i ask them to fix it, they are asking me to pay for it.

I want to get rid of the Direct TV connection and go back to Comcast. Comcast is much much much better than any other service providers.

Direct TV - Lied about defective receivers

FYI - All of Direct TV's HR-20/21 model HDTV DVR receivers are defective. Customer service will lie and decive the user about this, but I found out the truth - ALL are unstable and contain program bugs. The company is working on a downloadable software fix but NO date. They will do what they can to keep you from knowning this and will send you a remanufactured defective reciver. While you can ususally watch HD, you won't be able to record it. I called for weeks and was endlessly told to reset the box, got a replacement receiver, upconverters, endless tech instructions. But it was all while DIRECT TV knew that ALL recivers were defective. They said "A new dowload was coming" and asked what time zone I was in and that it was coming soon. NO. There is no current download. They have NO idea when there will be one.

The Direct TV story

When the problems started

I had a TV go out and did not replace the unit for several months and direct TV cut the service to the unit. I had the service restarted and just ignored the fact that the unit was not operating even though I had paid for the service. A few months pass and my receiver failed though I think the card was the problem. Direct TV sent a replacement receiver thought this was a great service. However Direct TV failed to disclose my contract was extended or that the new unit was now considered leased. (I was looking into a job overseas and was trying to figure out what kind of commitments I had) Direct TV informed I was under a new contract since one of my four receivers was replaced. I'm sort of suspicious now and wonder if Direct corrupted the receiver to extend my contract? I would hope this is not the case. Anyhow I was not stopping service yet my account Direct TV cut a few days later. Called direct TV they said they waived the lease commitment -- though I'm still not sure why an inquiry would cause a service to be cancelled? Since DTV cancelled/reestablished my service DTV is still billing for the replacement receiver -- I called Direct TV they said they fixed the problem -- of course it showed up on the next month's bill.

I addressed the fact that I owned the receiver that was replaced and this receiver should show-up as an additional receiver (I owned) not leased. We never came to an agreement on this point. DTV main point is that I received the information in the mail after the receiver was replaced. I told them that the leased receiver and extension of the contract should have happen-up front. They also told me that I was told up front -- Which they did not happen Since DTV records call -- I asked them to produce the recording -- I knew what the answer was going to be. I asked for my old receiver back since I did not own this one I wanted my original equipment back -- Of course they were not willing to send one back -- I knew that answer just wanted to here the excuse. .

1. Direct TV stopped my account because I made a simple inquiry

2. Cancellation caused additional billing on my account.

3. A receiver failed circumstances are suspect

4. Receivers was shut down even though I was still paying the bill

5. I was entered into an additional year contract with out this being disclosed up front.

6. The receiver I owned is now leased -- But I cannot get my equipment b

Unauthorized billing after I had moved & shut down my account - - and a refusal to give direct account information such as, "Please give me a list of charges to my account over the past 3 months" - (those 3 months occurring AFTER I had shut down my account & moved!). NO REFUNDS given, even now after 5 months - - and NO indication that the will be returning my money (over $600) to me. HOURS on the phone, time after time, with No SOLUTIONS. After as many hours on the phone as I have spent, I very strongly suspect that their well-trained telephone personnel is TRAINED to CONFUSE. They count on these tactics, I believe, to deter people from following through and bringing issues to resolution.

:( *** Directv, I have been with them since 1995 and they just lost me as a customer due to their contract installers they hire out of prison. These thugs show up late 3 times and want me to postpone install each time. Go back to the hood and take Direct tv with you.

Wrongful Collection

Direct TV is working with me but this company was very hateful this morning by phone. Time 10:15 June 18, 2008. I contacted Direct TV right after and they told me it was not a problem they would be working with me as previously discussed during my off time from surgery in May....I would love to nail this company because they are the very one giving others a bad name.....Direct TV told me it was noted in my record and there was not a problem and if the company called back refer them to Direct. Sincerely, Barbara Sue Terry

When you signed up for the service "you" went into an agreement with them. They can charge up to $480 for early termination.

It states this on their website! You should have read the terms before you signed!

When this goes against your credit, then don't be complaining because you can't keep your end of the bargain up. Obviously you are an ***!

DirectV, No!

I still do not have HD service, Customer Service is 0, you talk to 100 people you have to repeat your case, they have notes but nothing is being done. Thye say I owe them money because I cancelled. I only had service for 10 days; I did not cancel. They were not able to install my HD dish! First they said I owe them $980+ !!! Did not get any bill or bills in the mail. If you think I'm making this up, I don't blame you because it's unbelievable! Nightmare! What's next? I still don't have service, no one is listening! Run! If I am you and you do not have Direct or have nothing to do with them, you're great! Keep it that way! Don't go near DirectV, run for your life ! This is unbelievable. Got new TV and all but no service; next is they'll say I cancelled. Giving them 10 days, if not,

Direct tv applied unauthorized charges to my debit card

iv had dvt and loved it untill i moved i did everything i was suposed to called the movers conection and the instaler came out to my new place and could not get a signal from the satalite so he said he would tell customer service ther was no line of sight and that should override my early termanation of contract fee $150.00 since they could not provide me with service cuz thats not my fault. then customer service tells me the instaler reported to them that he was told by my apt mng that he could not put the satalite up and that because of thay they would not wave the fee.

i said im not paying that its your job to uphold your part ofyour contract and they took my debit card info that was on file from me paying online and charged 219.00 to my back acount without my knowing and without the funds being there. when i called and complaind they said due to the loss of my acount they have to charge something to make up for it and it was not ther falt that i chose to move to an area that they could not get a signal at. so even if they cant get a signal for you they will just use the you chose to move excuse to make you pay. luckily i had money set aside and i caught it the day of and was able to put the money in my acount but now i cant pay for my other bills so make sure to always read the fine print....

witch by the way iv not been able to finde to double check ther ignorant policy.

DirectTV unauthorized credit card charges

I entered into a two agreement with DirectTV ad after 20 months, the DVR became defective and needed to be replaced. DirectTV sent a replacement. After a total of 27 months I canceled my service and got charged over $204 for an early termination. DIrectTV automatically renewed my contract when they replaced the DVR previously. They never notified me of the extension or requested my approval. Maintenance service is not included in their contract commitment and must be purchased separately. Because of their inability to comply with their original contract term of two years, I was being charged a penalty. They also have an endless supply of "Supervisors" to read a script that this is their corporate policy. BUYER BEWARE. D|O NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECT TV.

Even after 12 years, an additional

fee for early termination. Just try to return the inferior DVR they pass off

for TIVO.

Pay the $145. or go to collections.

Pittiful, and they still send promotional advertisements offering $50. for each new sucker you will betray.

I feel ripped off

Dear Direct-Tv I am writing this letter in regards to the fact when i called for the service that i only asked for one receiver at the time and i told the representative that i wanted to try the service for a while before i got the other receivers and he never told me that if i did not get all the boxes at one time that after the installation the other boxes would cost me 69.00 a piece plus 80.00 for the technician if i had known that from the beginning i would have gotten the other one for 4.99 a piece so now i feel like i have been taken for a ride because the representative did not explain to me in full detail what the next step would be had he told me that at first i would have gotten everything done the first time i did not find out about how the set up works until i called in on sunday 4/27 but i just got connected on 4/26 and i do not think that it is wright for me to have to pay almost 400.00 to get my other boxes because the person i spoke to did not explain things to me correctly.
