Directv in Summersville, West Virginia - Lied about the service i bought and pricing

I contacted direct about a bundling package. Internet and television. They gave me an extremely good price at 66.99 for 24 months. I asked several times if the price was for the 24 months no hidden prices no step ups. They assured me it was. When the technician arrived I was informed I had not received the internet package and it would be additional monies. Upon contacting Direct they were no help and I was hung up on. They admitted they had charged me for installation of both products. I am owed a credit!! Direct is Nothing but crooks.

Directtv has offers only satellite tv service and does not have internet or phone service these two must be provided by another company and are billed separately.Direct does not tell customers this and leads them to believe DTV has all three services until after the customer has signed up and are under their 2 yr contract.The $69.99 is just for one year,the second year your bill will most likely double in price and also if for ANY REASON you change or upgrade ANY equipment this extends your contract for another 2 yrs.

If your DSL was too slow you should have upgraded.

That's your fault. I bet you were treating him like he was a POS liar and when the tech got pissed you scatted like a cat to hide and let your wife handle the situation herself.

THIS COMPANY WILL RIP YOU OFF! 1ST RIP-OFF: THEY SCREWED ME OUT OF A $200 GIFT CARD THAT WAS PART OF A SUBSCRIPTION OFFER.WAITED 12 WEEKS FOR CARD, CALLED THEM UP ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID I HAD MISSED THE APPLICATION DEADLINE (BY ONE DAY). I SAID WHAT APPLICATION AND THEY SAID I HAD TO SEND IN AN APPLICATION WITHIN THE 12 WEEK PERIOD TO APPLY FOR THE GIFT CARD. THAT WAS COMPLETE NEWS TO ME; I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION THAT THIS WAS NECCESARY! 2ND RIP-OFF: HAD POWER SURGE LAST NIGHT AND RECEIVER BOX WOULD NOT GO BACK ON. WENT THROUGH ALL THE RE-BOOT STEPS TECHNICAL SERVICE TOLD ME TO DO BUT WOULD NOT RE-BOOT. THEY SAID OK THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR A NEW RECEIVER BUT I HAD TO PAY A $20 SHIPPING FEE. I ASKED FOR SOMEBODY LOCAL TO JUST DROP ONE OFF AND THEY SAID THAT COULD NOT BE ARRANGED AND I HAD TO PAY THE SHIPPING CHARGE. THEN TO RUB SALT INTO THE WOUND I HAD TO GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD NUMBER OVER THE PHONE BEFORE THEY WOULD SHIP. AND I SIGNED A 2 YEAR CONTRACT WITH THESE A**HOLES...DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. SPREAD THE WORD!!

Hate to tell you this but you more than likely just extended your contract for another 2 yrs by ordering the replacement box. Also, you gave them your credit card # remember this gives them the right to put charges on your card any time they see fit. It's in your contract(in the fine print) The same goes if you give them your bank acc #.

Directv in Spokane, Washington - Money Taken without authorization

Last night while attempting to get my rent off my bank card, I was told my account has been overdrawn and that DirecTV had taken $804.44 out of my account. This is all because according to them, it was authorized because we cancelled services before our 2 year contract was up. Here's the problem, we were renting a home in Portland Oregon, where services were originally rendered. And the owner of the house let it go into foreclosure, and we were forced by the Sheriff's Department to move out leaving 90% of our possessions inside the house, and not being allowed back into the house to recover anything. They have not tried to contact us until about a week ago when we got a bill in the mail after we submitted an address change. They never called us, or tired to do anything to contact us. We called both the corporate offices and CS and neither one will refund our money, all they keep saying is that they won't refund, it is a valid debt, and they collected on that debt. (How is it a valid debt if they removed the money from my account without authorization?) All in all this whole thing has been a nightmare, and because of this companies shady and underhanded techniques my family may end up in the streets again because of them removing money that they did not have the authorization to remove. I am trying to get my bank to reverse the charges, but am having difficulty doing so as they tell me that DTV must send them a fax and a letter saying that they were the ones that took the money out of my account, and that I did not authorize the transaction. (Which we all know DTV will not do.)

The $804.44 sounds excessive,they must be charging you for the equipment too. I don't understand why you had to leave 90% of your possessions in the house,the Sheriffs office usually sets all the items outside of the house.If you have the equipment,call Direct and ask them for a prepaid lable and boxes to return their equipment,if they do this,get a tracking # from FEDEX to prove they get the equipment and they will have to return the money for the equipment which will be around $400.

Remember, whenever you give anyone your bank account # or credit card # this gives them authorization to debit your account. Most places are honest and will only use this info for the original charge but DTV is another story..Sorry this happened to you..Good Luck

One problem with your complaint, you DID authorize them to access your account. It's in the customer agreement that apparently most people can't be bothered to read.

You thought you could just stop paying and suffer no consequences? I realize it wasn't your fault you had move, but still irresponsible to not contact them at the time.

Directv in Miami, Florida - Very upset with this policy

Me and my wife are moving to a new location. I already have several things under my name so we decided to get directv service under her name. After we set it up we waiting after taking a day off and nobody came. So after we had to call they told us the acc. Was on hold. Are you ready for this?? The account was on hold because when my wife was living with her sister, her sister put her email and somehow her name was tied to the account. Hmm ok thats fine lets try to solve this. After numerous calls and speaking to "supervisors" we finally were told that because she lived there they couldnt do anything. Oh yeah btw she was SIXTEEN when this happend. The only way they could allow us service is bye us bringing a bill in her name at that time. Are you kidding me ?? So I have to find a bill from 6 years ago to show you. Well needless to say she was 16 , she had no bills under her name. Well that was the end of that. They gave us no other solution. I worked for directv for a year and my entire family has it. I can gaurantee that mot only are you loosing me but my father uncle and mother in law are cancelling service. Tha k you for your help and just get in case you were wondering, you have the wooorst supervisors handeling situations in your company.

Directv in Taylor Springs, Illinois - Placing the dish to close to electrical wiring

Direct Tv technican placed the dish to close to the electrical wiring going into my home. Amerem CIPS noticed it and sent me a letter stating there is a "regulation' that the dish has to be so many inches away from the electrical and I had to have it fixed or they turn off my service. When I called Ameren Cips to find out about this, they told me Direct TV does this frequently and they will probably expect me to fix their mistake. When I called Direct Tv, sure enough they want me to pay 49.95 to have this corrected and they were the ones who made the mistake and placed it there, I didn't tell them where to put it, they are the professional that should know their job. I asked for two different supervisors and they are rude and hateful and basically said it was my cost. I regret switching to them and I will be changing back to dish as soon as my two years is up...

A little story about my experience with Direct Tv. My story starts when I signed up with Direct TV and they offered me free NFL Sunday ticket. I told them that I was not a football fan and had no interest, they told me that I would not be billed for it and it would be removed. After a couple of months I realize that it is still on my account and I called back to have it removed. After being transferred several time I was finally told it had been removed. I sign up for direct pay and paperless billing so I did not notice that they had put it back on my account for the start of the following NFL season. After a few billing cycles I realize that they had been charging me for it and I call them to have it removed. I was bounced around to several different people and was told they would remove it and credit me back for two of the months that were charged. I waited about a month and it was never taken off my bill so I called back. This time I spent TWO HOURS being transferred to SIX different people. The first person told me they would credit it back right away and he apologized for the mix up. The second, third, fourth and fifth person informed me that because the season already started it could not be removed and I would have to pay in full. After asking to be transferred to the cancelation department so I can cancel my service all together the final person promised me that they would credit my bill with $25 if I did not cancel. It has been two months and I am in the process of selecting another provider but I have kept their service for two months and they never even gave me the $25. Direct TV has hands down the worst customer service I have ever received from any company or service in my life. This is only one of my multiple horror stories about dealing with Direct TV and I urge anyone that will listen to not use their service.

Directv in Walnut Creek, California - Stole money without my authorization

Direct tv took $590 out of my account without my authorization. Plus cost me lots in overdrafts. So I called them they said they don't need my permission cause my credit card on the file so they can without me knowing. They said they would refund me back $214 on march 23 today is march 25 calbank still not credit yet. Not the first problem. On top of all this *** they been charging me for NFL ticket. I told them they made a mistake and too fix it. They never did. So I got charged monthly for this and I didn't even want it. So I got screwed again by these idiots!!! Do ever go to them for sadilight tv because most likely they *** you over like they did too me. What ***. All I can say is I'll defiantly keep on Letting people what they did too me with no reguar!!! Ya I'm a pissed off ex customer. Thank god they sucked anyway. Always the same *** on and never changed.

They did the same to me but for $750.I have contacted an attorney about a class action lawsuit if interested I will give you her name and number.They need to be held accountable.

If DTV took the money from your credit card, you can dispute this amount and the money will be returned to your account but you will have to to either close the aocount or change the # where they cannot get it. you can also dispute the charges with your bank and the people at the bank will explain what you can do.

wanted new service payed pass account bill still no service. Tech. was here on 3/21/13 setup everything then get a call about pass bill payed it 3/21/13 still no service saying its not showing in system yet how can that be giving western union and you guys the same account you gave me what is really going on can you guys please update you all system check western union web saying it has been sent.if not showing by tomorrow 3/26/13 no thanks one less thing on credit hope you guys really get on the ball why i have to wait.......

DirecTV Early Cancellation Penalty

Have used DirecTV service for the last six or seven years. Neighborhood trees grew up into the satellite signal path and programming became corrupted. Had three of DirecTV service people over a two year period out to correct the problem. At first viewing was improved but the last time there was no improvement so I cancelled service. I was charged for the service calls. I was also charged an early cancellation penalty ($220.00) when I cancelled service. The excuse they used was that the trees wasn't their problem and then change it to one of the early service calls had included a new DVR (it has been returned) so my contract was extended two more years. DirecTV can't provide the service but I am penalized. Buyer Beware!
