Directv in Doylestown, Pennsylvania - Hidden contracts

When we first got direct TV we made a two year contract , when I had 7 months left of the contract I moved and without knowing they renewed my contract for another two years. They did not explain this to me however, they just said they were transferring the box from the old house to the new house. Never did they say anything about renewing the contract. I was trying to cancel my direct tv the other day when they told me I couldn't because I had still my two year contract after I moved. Now I will have to pay 300 hundred dollars because I was not notified of this hidden contract renewal .

We live in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We've had DirecTV for more than 2 years.

Recently, they cancelled CBS and the Weather Channel (very imporatant during hurricane season) and failed to televise the last game of the NFL on Sunday ticket. Because NFL Sunday ticket is a package, they offer no credits. They do, however, on their web site advertise that you won't miss a single minute of an Sunday NFL regular season game.

We switched to Dish and when I called to cancel DirecTV, yesterday, was informed they renewed our contract in November.

When my husband spoke to them in November, they indicated because we always paid on time and they had dropped CBS that we would be getting a $10 discount through April. We never received the discount.

The rep yesterday told us the call in November was a verbal renewal of our contract for 2 years and we would have to pay a steep disconnection fee.

Directv in Columbus, Ohio - Direct TV added a $5.99 per month protection plan without my authorization

Anyone has problem with Direct TV, they added $5.99 per month protection plan without my authorization. This will end up in a class action Law suit. They also charge you extras without asking you. They tell you up to 4 receivers free, but they charge you for installation on the 3rd and 4Th. I call them several times and every associate tell you a different story. They try to avoid answering by email and they ask you to call the 800 number. I should have stay with cable, I have nothing but problems with this company. Looks elsewhere you come Way ahead.

Directv customer service is awful

I have been a loyal customer of DIRECTV since 2006 and I have never been treated so horribly until I spoke to your billing supervisor (“Ed” located in South Carolina ID# tpcl458836). I called regarding a billing issue because I was previously told on 1/14/13 by another representative that my account would be credited $15.00 per month since I was “loyal” customer and I was unhappy with the current increase in my bill. This was has been the normal routine for years since DIRECTV is interested in keeping me as a customer, which I appreciated. However, on 3/1/13 at approximately 8:20 pm eastern time, I spoke to your billing department and they have completely let me down in the way they dealt with my billing issue. In fact, your customer service representative suggested that I wait until the 14th of each month and incur a late fee just to get a credit of $10.00, which makes absolutely zero sense. I asked your supervisor to refer to the previous notations on the account because this is what I was told and he said he is not able to refer to these notes. At this point I knew that this supervisor was not willing to assist me in this issue. Needless to say, I was very infuriated and asked the supervisor to cancel the service and give me the information for the corporate office to file a FORMAL complaint. He then provided the information and stated that the service will be canceled effective “today” 3/1/13. I have always tried to remain a DIRECTV customer throughout the years, however based on the one individual’s actions; I choose to deal with Comcast and CANCEL this service with DIRECTV after 7 years or service. I will also be sure to spread the word about the terrible customer service I received. Thank you.

Directv in Rapid City, South Dakota - Lied to me+ over billing

They lied to me saying the gal did not know what she was doing. They added a year onto contract than raised my bill more than double. Told them to unhook me than they say they will bill my credit card for the monies because they say even if you don't have automatic payments that they still will take the money from your credit card. So *** them I cleaned my money out & closed that banks debit card. Now I have have trouble with these *** people many times over 20 years with them. I belive the service personal screw things up for there own job security knowing if they did things the right way they would not need so many employes. It is a bunch of lies from them for years. Don't ever use them you will spend hours on the phone pissed off with no good out come at all. Over the years have cost me more than 700.00 in loss because of there lies.

Directv in Memphis, Tennessee - Will Not Refund!!!

I had to move-direct tv said I had to either cancel service for $220 or pay full price when it wasn't being used so we cancelled. The next they called and were willing to work with us so we scheduled an installation. They also said the $220 would be refunded at installation. The technician was unable to install. I called direct tv and they said they could not refund because I had lost all my "loyalty points and incentives" when I cancelled. I was never told about these points and incentives. I was under the impression that if direct tv could not install-it was their problem.

Directv in Colorado Springs, Colorado - False and misleading advertising and promises

With in 30 days of subscribing to Direct TV I received a monthly rate increase from the contract rate. This practice is the result of intentional false and misleading advertising practices that appear to be originating at the highest i.e Executive level. Simply, sign up new subscribers, offer great initial sign up bonuses and rates since it doesn't matter what the initial cost, they will simply raise the rates the first month and continue to do so regardless of what the "contract" states. People need to get on the band wagon and find an attorney group that wants to take them on. Game on baby!

Directv in Baltimore, Maryland - Rude customer service rep

I am have been separated from my now ex husband for almost three years. Now divorced for a year and a half now back into the what was the martial home. Which is now the sole property of mine. For some unknown reason he refused to have the service cut off and allow me to have new service placed in my home and now has an outstanding bill for non payment. Which was the company fault for not allowing me to disconnect his service when I attempted too. Now the customer service rep is explaining to me that it is considered a marital debt. Your company refused to cut the service off when I asked for the service to be cut off and to allow me to start me to start service. But now your company wants to make me responsible for his bill. He has his boxes, which he is responsible for yet I am being penalized for his spiteful actions. I am divorced as of Nov. 18th, 2011 and separted since Oct 20th,2010 and will not be held responsible for his debts. Your company needs to take a closer look at your policy concerning this matter as well as your rude customer service rep who I did not nor should not have had to explain the details of my life to have service connected. I am sure that someone in your company has an ex spouse and you don't feel you should be responsible for their past due bill(cable bill.) Maybe if I didn't have a 6 year old son I would have gave the name back and maybe not have this problem but I doubt it because they would still tried to hold me responsible for a past due bill at this address. I have refinanced my home and started a clean slate from my past and your company is attempting to sabatarge my credit and success. Oh and when I asked your customer service for her supervisor she left me on hold for 25 minutes until I decided to hang up. I understand that your company has millions of customer and can stand to lose a few because of unsatisfactory service or an issues such as mine but I just had to express my dissatification with this situation. Sincerely Ms Turner PS: Your company ran my credit and approved everything as well as charged my credit card for the projected installation of yesterday date. Which your company called and canceled. After waiting for a week to have it installed. I would really appreciate if someone reviews this issue.
