DirecTV is terrible

The DirecTV website is down so now they want to charge me five dollars just to order a pay per view movie. That $5 charge does not include the cost of the actual movie. What is wrong with these people. Their own site is down and they want to charge me extra for that. You would think they would apologize for the site being down and then order the movie for me free given the service issue. Nice job DirecTV. You just came up with a new revenue stream. Mess up your own website so you can make more money. I can't wait to cancel my account.

Directv in Goose Creek, South Carolina - Direct TV

I paid on my ex's Direct Tv account a couple of times. When failed to pay his bill Direct TV billed my debit card without my authorization. They claim that when ANY debit card is used the information is kept on file and can be billed at any time WITHOUT your authorization. They claim this is disclosed when you make the payment. I have never heard of this before and I have looked on their website and could not find any reference to this policy. Now I am out over 700 dollars and Direct TV refuses to refund the money even though I do not have an account with Direct TV and they can provide no proof I ever was ever informed of this policy. Bottom line Direct TV practices blatant fraud and now one is stopping them.

You will have to dispute the charge with your bank. Tell them it was an unauthorized charge and you don't even have an account with Directv.

You may have to be persistant, but they are obligated to reverse the charge. You are not a Directv customer and are not bound by their terms and conditions.

So have they offered to refund the money? I'm dealing with the same thing here.

I'm a single mom with three kids and when I tried using my debit card it was rejected for inadequate funds. I called the bank and was informed that I had a debit in excess of 350 dollars for DTV. Shocked I informed them that it had to be fraud, I've never in my life had a DTV account. I then called the number supplied by my bank to DTV and was told that since I was not a customer it could take up to ten days just for them to investigate the issue!

Meanwhile, my three children and I were stuck in subfreezing weather in a truck with little fuel two hours from home. Noone with DTV seemed to care that they took every single dime I had to my name, that my children and I were stranded with nothing, and even had the audacity to tell me that I needed to calm down. Thankfully my oldest son had two Christmas gifts he couldn't use and asked if he could take them back to get his money and at least put gas in the truck so we could get home. No, I did not have anyone tell me when I swiped my card months ago to help a friend that I could be liable for all future charges...

No, I'm not going to go track down the individual who I helped to reclaim my money that was taken... Yes... I will fight DTV and may even sue them for damages to my credit since I have been forced to be dilinquent on a a couple of bills.

I've thought about contacting local television stations and showing all the faxes I've sent DTV, my debit card company, and all the responses I've recieved from each, none from DTV and three from my card company telling me they are investigating this and working to refund my money. DTV on the other hand continues to "loose" my call when I call them and I've yet to recieve an incident number or anything to that extent.

Directv in Richardson, Texas - Direct TV Debited my checking account for installation and services I had cancelled.

I ordered new service for a new home with Direct TV, but they could not install the dish because there was no signal. The appointment was cancelled the same day and the account closed but 12 days later they still debited my account for the installation and a month's service totaling $187.95. When I called Direct TV customer service they refused to refund my money for 30 days! It was their mistake yet they insisted on keeping my money for a month. I would suggest you do NOT sign up for auto pay with this company or expect any customer service.

DIRECTV

I have been a customer of Directv for 13 years. I have not always been happy with the service; but, the last two years I have been extremely unhappy. I live in rural Oklahoma. Zip codes and phone service cross counties here. My home sits in one county while my address is out of the closest town which is in another county. Two different times Directv changed my locals. When I would call, after getting a run around, I would be switched back. Two days ago they again switched my locals. When I called, they argued with me about what county I lived in based on my address and the Nielsen Media Research. I called the FCC and filed a complaint, I also sent an email to Nielsen. I am a grown woman and know what county I live in and in which county I pay property tax. I have spoken to Directv at least six times in the last couple of days. The last representative basically called me a liar and laughed at me. That was the final straw. I will be checking with Dish Network to see what they can offer.

Directv in New Zion, South Carolina - False representation

My husband and I called in to enquire about getting direct tv and was given false information concerning what channels we would have for the 2 years. We were both told buy a lady named marie that we would have the movie channel for the entire 2 years and would not have to pay any other monies. She said that it was part of the package that we got. She also said that the call was being recorded and I was glad about that because they could go back and hear exactly what was said. She did this so that she could get a sale and we are truly angry about it. They called to welcome us to direct tv and I spoke to customer service to make sure that this was correct and they told me no that we had to pay $45.00 if we are to keep the movie channels after 3 months. I then talked to the supervisor on call and she said the same thing. She did not try to make things right after knowing that the representative had lied just to get us to sign up. Directv are theives

I was a loyal customer with Direct TV for around five years. When our equipment stopped working for us, I called repeatedly for assistance and received inconsistent answers and impolite customer service. I decided to switch to another provider that could provide the service promised. Direct TV informed me that I would be charged an early termination fee despite the fact that I had signed no new contract. According to them, the upgrade to new equipment constituted a contract renewal. They sent me one bill, which I intended to pay, but, without any follow up, they drafted $130 from my checking account without notice or approval two days before Christmas. Directv in Brooklyn, New York - Taking advantage of disabled during holidays

billing department after i called prior to major back surgery that i would disconect and return equipment and reconect and pay to date to start up when i got out of surgery i called prior so then they just took on december 19 205.00 without any notice i want my money back they were dead wrong and im a disabled person to boot way wrong and i feel they not only ruined my xmas i had no xmas money for the kids please respond like i no direct tv is really about i called and was responcible you didnt care to document when i turned boxes in they said they would when i went in so i did my part all that send reminder i was in hospitall having major back surgery 3 discs thats y i disconnected didnt no how long recovery was to be i cant beleive this has happenned please respond 5625074119 my number

Call your bank and ask if they will reverse the charges on DTV.Some banks will do this for the customer pending their investigation.If the bank does replace your money,you will need to close the account to prevent DTV from recharging. I believe I'd look for another tv service because DTV is the Dirtiest company one will ever deal with and they have a never ending list of scams they use and comes up with new ones every day. Sorry this happened to you, I am wishing you a speedy recovery Good Luck!

I called DirecTV about the 29.99 special for two years,and after listening to their BS for approximately 20 min. I was told the final cost per month would be $57. The ad says and I will quote it ." 29.99 per month for 12 months after instant rebate special lock in two years of savings, over 140 channels plus HD included with the little + behind the included free professional installation in up to four rooms plus free for three months HBO stars Showtime and Cinemax new free Genie upgrade the most advanced HD DVR ever connect up to four rooms then at the bottom of that in the smallest letters that you could possibly see additional equipment required additional and advanced receiver fees apply plus lock in your savings for two years. Now when I called up they said all no that doesn't work that way but 2999 is per one room no HD no DVR matter fact you have to pay five dollars a month for the box to run the TV.if I have to make my own my own antenna I would never ever go to this highway robbery place called DirecTV jam in Fort Lauderdale

WHILE LOOKING AT MY BILL I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A FEE FOR THE NFL PACKAGE FOR $32.99 SINCE JULY. I GET EBILLS AND AM GUILTY AT NOT REALLY PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT IS ON MY BILL. I JUST NOTICED ON 12/24 THAT THE NFL PACKAGE HAS BEEN ON AND KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS. I CONTACTED DIRECTV AND WAS INFORMED THAT WHEN WE BECAME NEW CUSTOMERS LAST YEAR THIS WAS THE PROMOTION THAT WAS CURRENTLY GOING ON, AFTER 1 YEAR OF SERVICE DIRECTV WOULD AUTOMATICALLY ADD THE NFL PACKAGE TO MY ACCOUNT. HE THEN INFORMED ME THAT THEY SENT ME A FLYER IN THE MAIL STATING THAT IF I DID NOT WANT THIS PACKAGE TO RETURN THE POST CARD AND LET THEM KNOW. I DONT READ JUNK MAIL AND IF IT SAID NFL ON IT I WOULD HAVE JUST THROWN IT AWAY SINCE NO ONE IN MY HOUSE WATCHES FOOTBALL. THEY NOW TELL ME THAT THEY CAN ONLY RETURN $30 OF THE $196 AND CANNOT CANCEL THE PACKAGE UNTIL THE SEASON ENDS SO I WILL CONTINUE TO GET BILLED UNTIL FEBRUARY. Yeah, this is something every company does in order to slip one by us. Cable, dish, DTV - it doesn't matter.

They offer promotional packages of premium channels for a limited time. If you do not cancel those services you will be charged for them once the promotion ends.

It's written in the print. I know you said you don't read the bills many companies count on that.

So you can't get mad at something you could have stopped.

All you can do is suck it up learn from it and read ALL your bills. You may be getting ripped off more than you know.

I wish I could agree with you on their failure but DTV ha been doing this for many.many years and getting away with it,it seems Money talks where they are concerned. And no one can seem to pass up a so called "Good Deal" As far as giving the best deals to new customers,they do this because they know they have the customer at their mercy for 2 yrs.It is a win-win situation for DirectTV.

Go to walmart or amazon and check out the Roku Player read the reviews,this is what I have and I love it! No more cable for me!
