Service with Directv has been going downhill over the years but this last installation resulted in so many problems, most of which cannot be solved, that I will definitely be ending service with them once the commitment is over.With the old genie system we had we kept on getting technical glitches.

We were told that we have an old system and that we really need to upgrade to the new system. This upgrade was supposed to be free of charge with a technician doing the installation which we were told would be an easy swap. Only after installing the genie and its clients with each of our tv's, the technician told us that the new system required HDMI cables from the new equipment to the TV and that DIRECTV does not supply cables long enough to do this and keep the cables hidden as they previously were. So we had to cables hanging from our TV's rather than fed through the wall as they were before.

Also, the technician disconnected the 3 cables that were in the old DVR but only connected two to the new genie. The third one was for our zone 2 system to be able to listen to sound throughout the house. We questioned him on why the zone 2 wasn't working and he said he didn't touch anything with the zone 2. We hired a 3rd party service and paid $188 for him to install the longer HDMI cables needed and to look at our zone 2.

The zone 2 had the cable just hanging there where the DIRECTV installer left it rather than plugging it into the new unit. My free installation cost me $188 and a few months of not having our zone 2 connected and with having cables hanging from 2 of our tv's. THE NEXT PROBLEM, we have less than half the space on the new genie system that we had before. We were told that the old system had a DVR for each TV and each DVR actually stored the recordings on that device.

With the new genie system only the genie stores data providing with us less than HALF the storage we had before. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF ALL, we can no watch the same thing on multiple TV's because the sound and picture between the TVs that have the client versus the one that has the genie is off by up to 10 seconds. Before you could have the football game going on in all rooms and wherever you're standing be able to see and hear from any TV, the delay is so bad it can be off and entire NFL play. We spend HUNDREDS of dollars for the NFL package and with the picture delay we can no longer use multiple tv's because it's too darn confusing.

ONE ADDITIONAL PROBLEM, with the new required HDMI cable needed for the new DIRECTV equipment, our older TV takes up to 4 minutes for the picture to actually turn on. Waiting 4 minutes for your TV to turn on is ridiculous. Can't believe how horrible this system is and all the problems with installation. After several phone calls with DIRECTV, each call taking 30 minutes to an hour, and getting hung up on at least 3 times after being on the phone that long, they offered me a $25 credit on my bill.

I am through with DIRECTV.Once our commitment if over or we move, I will never consider signing up with DIRECTV again.
