According to a Direct TV Rep. Direct TV can cancel any channel or channels at any time. Section 1 of the agreement on their website, not the agreement I signed, gives them the right to cancel channels, it also gives the customer the right to cancel service if he doesn't like the loss of programming. If the customer has not completed the agreed term of service, 12 or 24 months, then the Rep. says that the customer will have to pay the early cancellation penalty stated in section 5 of the agreement.
The Rep also said that Direct TV could drop any number of channels it wants, 1, 10, 100.....and the customer will still be obligated to pay the penalty if he doesn't like the reduced service, and even though some of the channels Direct TV drops would cost $10 a month to add outside the purchased package, Direct TV will not even reduce their fee by the $10.
It seems that when you enter a two year agreement with Direct TV you get whatever "package" they want to deliver. Just think if you were having a 3 bedroom house built and then the builder decided he would only build a 2 bedroom, but he would still charge you the same for a product you don't want, and fine you if you told him not to build at all.
