I have been a loyal Direct tv customer since 2005- I have always had the same package and a few years ago I upgraded to premium channels to the tune of about $145 for 2 receivers which is pretty steep but never complained until now... I have never had any issues with my service or complained about the fact that every time there is a storm or blizzard or some other quirk I lose reception when I need it the most, until now.

A few weeks ago my tuner#1 (basement receiver), went out so I called and after 35-40 mn. of pushing this button or that, they got it restored yipeee right? so I thought. 3 days ago it went out again (the same one in the basement my upstairs one is always spot on), so I called and about 35-40 mn.

later was back in business...so I thought, until yesterday it shut down on me again. I called customer service and after almost 1 1/2 hours of transfers and button pushing I was informed that they were unable to restore my HD channels until my bill, which is not due until the 21st is paid in full and since it was after hours I had to wait until this morning to have a 0 balance due. It's paid in full yet my downstairs receiver is not picking up ANY of my HD or premium channels I'm paying for so I called tech support- I spent about 40 mn. with the first rep before I was mysteriously cut off.

I called back and spent about 1 hour 45 mn with another rep pushing buttons and being put on hold 9times with NO results. Finally, the rep comes back on line and tried to tell me the reason it wasn't working was because I'm not signed up for their HD package which is $10 more per month and he pushed a button and lo and behold my stations were back on- whoo hooo right? NOT! He then told me that the only way I can continue to receive the stations I've had downstairs and STILL have upstairs, is to upgrade to $10 more a month!!

I was outraged- are you kidding me?!? I said No and he said that he would have to turn them off then- and DID!! I pay for BOTH receivers- always have, and BOTH have always worked, now they are trying to tell me that my basement receiver can no longer access the same channels I had until a few days ago and still have upstairs?!? What a crock!

I am furious and have documented the entire experience on speaker phone!! I am turning them in to the BBB and also filing a claim against them- it's so cut-n-dry it's not even funny- if anyone is interested perhaps a class action law suit against these crooks!! They are charging me for 2 receivers and services yet are only letting me use one. They both worked sine 2005 until a few days ago - IF I need to pay $10 more for what I already have- it's an obvious scam!!!!

I'm going to make my story experience with them KNOWN- I'm going to let EVERYBODY hear for themselves how Direct tv treats loyal customers and I'm taking legal action against them and switching to Dish!!!! DTV is the WORST!!!!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.
