Because I was moving, I canceled my Direct TV subscription in early September 2007. Direct TV charged my credit card for the full month of September.

I called, and they quickly admitted I was owed a refund of $40+. I gave my new address and was told it would take 8 weeks (?!) to get my check. Nine weeks later I called back- no check had been cut. An oversight, I was told.

Direct TV would get right on it. But, the check wouldn't come for up to 8 more weeks. Five weeks pass, I call again to check the status.

Direct TV tells me that my account has a zero balance, so, clearly the check has been sent. Four more weeks pass, no check.
