We took a lightning strike that knocked out both of our recievers. I replaced the cables and LNB at the dish since both got fried. Still got error 771 on tv from both recievers. We tried a friends reciever on our system and it worked fine. I then called tech support at directtv and told them it was very obvious that both recievers had input problems. These are leased recievers $6.00 a month for each. I was told I may have to buy new recievers. They said that they have to send a tech out at $49.00 a visit to check out my system.

I do satellite internet installs that have to be more precise than tv.

I may just cancel the service altogether with directtv. Wonder if a bunch of people cancelling service at the same time would get their attention?

If you do installs,why don't you do it yourself and save some money?If you could come up with the receivers from somewhere it would save money too.I'll bet those things are expensive.
