I was a loyal customer with Direct TV for around five years. When our equipment stopped working for us, I called repeatedly for assistance and received inconsistent answers and impolite customer service. I decided to switch to another provider that could provide the service promised. Direct TV informed me that I would be charged an early termination fee despite the fact that I had signed no new contract. According to them, the upgrade to new equipment constituted a contract renewal. They sent me one bill, which I intended to pay, but, without any follow up, they drafted $130 from my checking account without notice or approval two days before Christmas. This is unethical business and, in my opinion, nothing short of theft.
