Espn by itself, is $7.50. In an ala carte situation, the owner of Disney(ESPN) has said it will be $20 by itself.

Local channels and sports are the two most expensive sets of channels there are. For 20 channels(including locals), you’re looking at a closer to $60-$80 bill. Even more if it does not include the shipping and spiritual channels.

They pay to be carried and subsidize the regular programming. The bundles allow for bundle pricing, which means significant amount of money saved.

Directv - DirectTV and AT&T Lies!

In December 2016, we signed up for DirectTV/AT&T and was promised an awesome deal - TV with HBO, Showtime, Max; home phone, internet and two years of Football channels at $140-150 a month. Now I'm being billed for everything. They have shut my service off twice in the last three weeks because they issue me a credit and then take it away and then shut off my service to extort more money out of me. I now believe that their people knowingly will promise a customer anything and then write what they want in the work orders so you have nothing to fall back on.

Directv - Rate Increase forced me to dump Direct TV

I have been a loyal Direct TV customer since 2003. For the past several years Direct TV would increase our Sat TV rate to the point where their Choice package was costing us $121/month for 3 TVs. Each year I'd call them and "negotiate" a price reduction that was in the $65-$75 range. That would last for a year then I'd have to pay a month at the higher price before I could "renegotiate" fro another year. Each year the negotiation took 20 minutes or so of my time and the exercise was never fun. This year the price went up 40 $121and I waited 2 months before I called only to be told that I had not built up enough "loyalty credits" to qualify for anything more than a $5.00/mo reduction. I had the DISH web site up during the conversation and I warned them the the DISH price lock for 2 years was appealing and that I might switch. Still nothing. Ultimately we decided a change was in order and went with DISH. The really sad part was that we had added a TV receiver back in the fall and they used that to charge me a $340 contract cancellation fee. To be fair, their customer service rep had her hands tied with restrictions on the offers, but was super nice and tried to be helpful by offering to convert my cell phone service (not happening) and reducing my channel content (ludicrious) to get a lower price. Apparently AT&T is trying to squeeze as much as they can from the customer. DISH has an offer that saves me $840 over the span of 2 years for the exact same service. And... when the price goes up 2 years from now, I'll still be paying $25/mo less. Looks like I'm getting the last laugh AT&T/Direct TV. It is unfortunate that the Direct TV apple has fallen far from the tree since the AT&T takeover. It's pretty rotten now and I'm glad to be rid of them!

I was changing from dish to direct because the dish Network receivers kept going out. Direct told me they could give me the package and add a TV to my bedroom for what I was paying dish, which was $80 something, well the first few months my direct bi!LL was $79 and this month it jumped to $139 they said my discounts had expired, why didn't they tell me this up front. I am very pleased with the reception and service but I'm disabled and when bill just all at once double it makes it hard. This is America why can't we just be honest and quit trying to rip everybody off.

This is typical behavior with Direct TV, they agreed on a special package with me to give me movies and agreed on a price, she told me there would be an early termination fee if I removed the movie package. I told her that as long as the price stays at the amount she stated then I have no problem staying with them until my agreement ends in 8 months.

She told me that this price was locked in for 12 months, I said no problem then. I got that price for one month and then they bumped it up by just over $20. Nobody was prepared to honor the price they gave me and told me that if I remove the movie package they would bill me for early termination, at which point I told them to collect their equipment, I am done being lied to and cheated.

I returned the equipment and was then billed $430 for early termination and for none return of their equipment. I got no response from my letter to their corporate HQ, they are a terrible company to deal with, they lie to customers to get them on higher paying packages and then bump the prices up and charge the customer if they terminate the contract, a verbal contract is just as law abiding as a written one when there is a meeting of the minds, we both understood what the offer was and what the price was and it was locked in for 12 months, not one month, do not sign up with Direct TV, you will be sorry if you do.

I ordered Choice package over phone with an operator for $60 a month just to get local CSNBAYAREA to get local Golden State Warriors games and two weeks in to my new service I find out I don't have it. Call customer service and they say I have the entertainment package "wtf" I said I didn't order that and they say no problem we can upgrade you to choice package for $76 a month. Wait a minute hold the *** up !!!!!! I am not paying more than what is advertised when I ordered it. Talked to supervisor, manager and all these mother *** refused to give me the proper customer service. I want somebody's HEAD !
