DirecTv sends software updates periodically, & frequently, these updates result in sketchy failures of DVRs to properly record. Payment of a monthly service fee will not help you. Technicians & customer service employees cannot help. Perhaps a software patch will be issued in a few weeks, perhaps not. Until that is done, your DVR problem will continue. After we had technicians in our home 3 or 4 times the reception issue seems to be resolved but the dvr does not work properly and the incoming caller id is unavailable. My husband is visually impaired and relied on that feature to try and identify wanted or unwanted calls. Upgraded equipment but tech took two DVR receivers that should have been left here. We realized he had taken them and called immediately. I have well over 200 channels.I only view 10. The others are info commercial, religion, foreign language channels, paid movie channels. It's the overwhelming info commercial channels that really get to me. You have to scroll through 30 info commercial to find your channel of interest. Report them to the FDC (Federal Trade Commission) There had been countless complaints against DirecTV. They are greedy liars. Called 3 times to get service on my iPhone...I already have an account with Direct TV. I couldn't do it. They have my iPhone number and I could use a code for them to access tv services to my phone... Why do they need my access card, e-mail, password etc.I never could accomplish what I set out to do,so I am partially paying for a service I can't access.

Since taken over by AT&T this service is terrible. Im considering going back to Dish! All it takes is cloud cover and the satellite goes off. Its rediculous. I had a repair done and my picture quality has been dusty since. Very angry

Decent service. But the recordings will delete themselves, even if they have no been watched (most frustrating thing!! You had those recorded for a reason!!!). Loses signal way easy, like with just a simple cloud in the sky. Would not recommend getting direct tv!!
