DIRECTV is deceptive and unethical - don't give them your money
Last year I signed a 2 year directv contract under one of their promotions at Costco. I was told by the directv employee that the first year would be around $55 and after one year, I could call to cancel the football and lower my tv package in order to maintain a bill around $50-$60 per month.
However, when I go online or call to lower the package, it turns out the cheapest package available is $81. So, I went back to Costco last weekend and talked to the Costco/directv rep and he showed me their pricing plans that listed the second year of the package could be a โfamily planโ priced at $45 per month. Theyโre still selling the same thing with the same deceptive tactics. I took pictures of their pricing plans and their โVIPโ phone number.
You call their โVIPโ number and it is useless. You have to call ATTโs generic 800 number and survive all the automated prompts to talk about pricing. If you get through, the people at ATT are equally useless. Theyโre all based in off-shore call centers, and you get bumped from customer service, to loyalty/retention, to supervisor and after 90 min, not one of them has the ability to do a single thing to correct things.
Not even an apology.
NEVER EVER EVER USE ATT or DIRECTV.
The business model is unethical and deceptive. Give your money to quality companies that don't rip you off.
