I cancelled my service with directv after they tried to almost double my monthly rate. I was told that I would have to pay a fee of $250.00 to cancel.
I received a bill in the amount of $246.00 which I refused to pay. Since my debit card was on file with them, they told me that they would just remove that amount from my account. I called my bank and informed them of the threat and that I wanted to close that card. Today, I noticed that DIRECTV charged my new debit card.
When I called my bank to report card fraud and asked how did DIRECTTV get my new account number, I was informed that any company can call VISA and get an account number. If that is not fraudulent, then what is.
